  • Many years ago I had a boss who was also the father of a friend, so yes, he was old enough to be my father. I think I must have been about 23 and he was close to 50 (big age gap). I knew and liked his very nice wife but he was a dog! Well, anyway, does anyone remember that old song that said "if I said you had a beautiful…
  • Being in "denial" only hurts you. I've had diabetes for somewhere around 10 years and have tried EVERY DIET KNOWN TO MAN! For me, the only thing that works to control my blood glucose levels is eating low carb. After just a few days, if you're doing it right, you do not crave sweets (at least I didn't). Some people can eat…
  • Thanks for the recipe. I can't wait to try it. Low carb is definitely the way to go. I find it hilarious to read the different posts from the non-low carb people. Especially the one from someone quoting that "regular" pizza only has 36 carbs!!! and to just eat a slice of pizza! That's more carbs than I eat most days.…
  • I have to agree with Mustang_Susie when she said that sex was a gift from God for a married couple. My husband and I waited 4 1/2 years until we married. He has always been my best friend. We've been happily married now for 31 years. Sex in and of itself is not the usual reason a couple has problems. It usually comes down…
  • Since I'm trying to lose weight and stabilize my bg counts, I'm aiming for 20 carbs per day but am satisfied with anything under 50. I'm never hungry and sweets just are not tempting me anymore. I'm trying to get my A1c down below 6.0, which is the main reason I'm constricting carbs so much. I focus on meat and almost…
  • Shari, I can appreciate what you're trying to do. My A1c was 8.3 six months ago and 8.1 a couple of weeks ago. Because it was still way too high, my doctor also started talking about EXTRA meds (I'm already taking a lot). I found this site which helped me find some helpful links. Since starting on mfp I've noted that my…
  • Hi! You might need to focus on the amount of carbs that you're eating. Since keeping track of my own 'journey', I've found that the calories pretty much take care of themselves as long as I watch the amount of carbs that I'm eating. I try hard to keep carbs below 50 per day. Hope this helps.
  • You are doing great! You look great too. I'm waiting for the day that I can say I've lost 50 lbs. Keep up the good fight!
