"I could do it when I was little but I recently I bought a hoop thinking it could make my workouts more fun. But now I can't do it. I can't keep it going for more than a few turns before it's on the ground. What am I doing wrong? I've even watched a few beginner youtube videos and tried a couple of their ideas. No luck.…

I just saw Boar's Head and Sara Lee both have low sodium meats at the deli counter. Just ask the worker to cut them thicker for your needs.

Which is way good b/c Hostess just filed for bankruptcy.

So, the other day, I tweeked a South Beach dessert recipe. I made a Chai Spice ricotta cream dessert. 1/3 cup part skim ricotta cheese 1 Splenda packet 1/4 tsp almond extract Sprinkles of the following spices: cinnamon, ginger, and allspice. Let it sit in the fridge for at least 24 hours. It was creamy, but still has some…

Has anyone thought of this from a physiological point of view? Many of the responders commented that they don't get the endorphin high. Maybe there is some biological truth to this? We are all unique individuals. Those of you who do not like exercise, but continue to do, must be getting little to no endorphin rush. Those…

As a kid, I always mixed in canned/ drained peaches or pineapple with some chopped nuts on top. I have also had it with cinnamon sugar (or splenda) sprinkled on top. Lastly, I have mixed it with jarred salsa and have eaten it with tortilla chips. I have also seen but never tried mixing it with diced tomatoes and cucumbers…

I would ask yourself why you hate it. Bored? Do 10 minutes per machine. Do 3 machines and you already have a 30 minute workout. Time constraints? "Working out for 20 minutes at high intensity is better than 1 hour on the elliptical reading a magazine." (quote from Jackie Warner, personal trainer). Or do weight lifting?…

Can I throw out one other suggestion? I make the Tastefully Simple Chocolate Pound cake with 1 cup water and 3/4 cup of yogurt. OR with two mashed bananas. I have not tried this with store-bought cake mix yet. I love that it can be low-fat and you can change up the yogurt flavors. However, my biggest concern is the sugar…

I like the South Beach Diet desserts from Phase 1 of the book. They are all ricotta cheese based desserts and then you can choose to make the mocha, vanilla, almond, or lemon variation. I too could use some other under 100 calorie dessert ideas too. Oh, I also happened to run across a little slideshow on www.webMD.com of…

Back in September we were all Gung Ho on following her plan. Did anyone stick with it? (I didn't.) But, it is definitely something to revisit. I wonder how long you have to try something before you start seeing results.

Would love help. I was trying so hard to lose 5 pounds. Instead, I have gained 5 pounds. I seem to weigh more when I work out than when I am not.

I have been reading her book and somewhat enjoying it. The hardest part to read was the part about what not to eat, which looked like half of my current food intake. Probably why I've been at my current weight for 5 years. I would like to try her diet, but I am very nervous about slipping and it's effect on my food bill. I…

A Marie Callender's Chocolate Silk Pie- as much of it as I could wolf down.

I am trying to follow the Fat Flush Diet in the book "The 40-30-30 Formula" by Gene and Joyce Daoust. I have done their Regular Plan before and was successful in shedding belly fat. It is normally a 21 day flush and I am trying to find the willpower just to make it to one week. I am not been 100% successful so far, but I…

I ate frozen grapes tonight after I finished my salad. They really did cleanse my palate well. I would have reached for chocolate in the past. I have also heard the water advice from a herbologist.

My tricks from over the years: Drink water before and during the meal. Slow eating. Smaller plates. I try to sense when I am 80% full. I think about how I can use the leftovers. High fiber vegetables and eat them first. I tell myself that I am saving room for dessert later. Good luck.

Do you have a blender? Steam cauliflower for at least 11 minutes if you have doing like 1/2 a head (and yes, it will smell). Then, in batches, blend it with a tad of unsalted butter and splashes of fat free Half and Half (or milk). Sprinkle a little salt and pepper. Since you are doing it in batches, you will have to…

I had had that same hypothesis a few years back. However, this year, I have been watchful about not eating extra, especially on workout days. I, too will feel extra hungry after a long workout but I don't want to sabotage what I worked so hard for. Now,if I could just lose the fat around my hips and middle, I would be so…

I am so glad that you posted this question. I have been wondering the same thing for awhile. I was recovering from a cold and couldn't exercise, but lost almost 4 pounds without exercising. Now, that I have returned to my ususal activiites, I see the weight creaping back on. I was wondering what was happening.

You just made me feel a lot better. The biking shorts were originally $100, but I bought them on the clearance rack at REI, so they were not too much of a clearance price. While trying them on, I did notice how ultra comfortable they were and I do plan on attempting a long bike ride this summer before I have foot surgery…

I agree with the previous poster about Black Eyed Peas. I also like some oldies but goodies: Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles Rock Island Line by Johnny Cash (you will run faster by the end of the song) Scarecrow by John Mellancamp Also, any Irish reels by Gaelic Storm or Beth Patterson. There is just something about a…

Did they even have a pledge sheet or a clipboard? Most people go door to door or ask their family/ friends. Sounded fishy to me.

In our martial arts class, he has us hold plank (on elbows) for 15, 30, 45 and 60 second intervals. It is a good way to develop strength and endurance for this exercise. Also, look straight ahead and try to focus on a spot on the wall. Good Luck.

Currently, I am reading Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential. Highly recommended if you ever worked in a restaurant or with food in some capacity. Before that, I read The Help by Kathryn Stockett- truly amazing book. Didn't want to put it down, didn't want it be over.

On Monday, April 4th, A&E is having an update show for Heavy. It will be interesting to see who has maintained, lost more and/or gained.

Thanks for the suggestions. They all sound yummy and now I have a new use for my frozen mango (if I just buy a lime).

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/HealthyLiving/video/lose-weight-around-the-clock-13155977 I saw the above excerpt on GMA this morning from Dr. Oz. I think it is worth checking out. I have heard this advice about exercising before eating breakfast and I actually used to do this with running, but I got away from it. I think I need…

I have to be honest, I was skeptical when I first read your post of squash tacos. However, I just read the reviews on www.allrecipes.com for the squash tacos and now I have to try them. Did you see the recipe for Southwestern Spag. Squash where the author put black beans in the dish. I bet that would be good in the tacos…

I am a Zone Bar consumer myself, with an occasional Clif Bar thrown in the mix. I was introduced to the Zone Bar while on the 40-30-30 diet. The Almond, Raisin, Biscotti bar is my favorite. They are yummy. However, they do have 220 calories per bar. So, I usually only eat them on workout days or as a full meal replacement.
