Getting nowhere except frustrated
I have been a frequent on/off user of MFP for many years now. My weight has fluctuated within a 5-7 pound range for all of those years. However, within the last few months (since Jan. 1), I have made a more conscious effort to eat more proteins and less gluten (truthful replaced with rice) and have increased the number of…

Detox & Metabolism Teas
Do you believe that teas for detox and/or metabolism really work? I bought box of detox tea. I'm only consuming here and there, one cup per day.

What if I just want to lose 1 pound?
So, I'm thinking I need small goals. Luckily, I have returned to my pre-Halloween weight, but now I would like to start heading towards my real goal weight. I feel like I have been sitting at 125 lbs for 2 years now and would just like to see 1 pound leave at a time. I do Zumba once per week, walk to and from work 3 days…

Saving room for alcohol?
I should start out by saying, I probably have one alcoholic drink per weekend night. However, I am not sure how to "manipulate" my calories so that I don't go over my calorie allotment. How do you balance this? Do you exercise more? Eat less? Drink extra water to flush it out? Or just go for it and not worry?

Exercising while watching Biggest Loser
I always find such motivation while watching BL. Tonight I am hula hooping while watching TV. What about you?

Historical Treadmill
So the next time you think you can't go another minute on the treadmill think of this: As stated on American Pickers TV show: "Some 19th Century British prisons forced convicts to spend up to 12 hours a day on a treadmill to grind flour and corn." Have you seen this episode?

Let's see if our group has a favorite brand. Which shoe maker are you currently wearing as your running shoe?

Weekend Warrior
After having a not-so-good running week, I am so happy that I was able to tackle a tough workout this morning. I biked a tough, hilly course this morning for 1 1/2 hours. Then, finished with a slow jog for 10 minutes. I have a 5K in less than 2 weeks and a triathlon in one month. It's tough going.

Hydration Test
Hi All! The following information was shared with all of the runners at a recent race that got cancelled because of the heat. I thought it was interesting and appropriate to share with the group. According to the Fox River Trail Runners's handout the following is a guide to hydration. "If your urine pre-run is clear,…

Virtual Running Club as a Group
Hello. I just wanted to let MFPers know that there is a group on this site for people who enjoy running/ jogging. It started as a thread and seemed to gain popularity. Based on that, I started it as a official group. We would love to have more people join in the conversations and offer advice, suggestions, motivation, etc.

Are you street?

Do you ever use a treadmill?
When I was returning to running, I would get my "base" running started on the treadmill. I found it easier to track my pace and miles. I would also force myself into sprint running as well. I know most people "dread the tread". But, I really did enjoy it. I enjoy running outdoors too, but I see advantages to treadmill…

Virtual Running Club
Hello Fellow MFP'ers- I need some accountability to get in some jogging this week. I want to try especially hard this week b/c the hot weather finally broke in the upper Midwest. So, if you log any jogging or running miles this week please post here too. This way we can give each other pats on the back. State how many…

I am missing my starches!
Since I started Boot Camp this week, I thought that I would add a Low Glycemic Diet to go along with it. I am not scratching all carbs, so I still have energy, but I didn't realize how badly I wanted a piece of toast with my eggs, a tortilla for my turkey and some pasta with my salad. Ugh! If I can go 40 days without a…

Exercise Clothes
Have you ever spent more than you wanted to on exercise clothes? I usually try to get away with buying cheap. However, yesterday, I REALLY splurged on a pair of padded bike shorts and now I am having buyer's regret. I haven't cut the tags off yet, so the thought of returning them is still lingering. What about you?

Heavy on the A&E channel
I tend to like all TV shows like this one: Biggest Loser, Thintervention, etc. I was so impressed by the ex-football player from GA on this past week's episode. He really rose to the challenge, but what was the coolest thing ever was when he fulfilled his promise to run on the treadmill one minute for every pound he lost.…

Morton's Neuroma
I am looking for others who may have had surgery to remove a Morton's Neuroma. For those who are unfamiliar, it is a ball of nerves between the third and fourth toes. It becomes inflamed and aggravated with tight shoes and/or lots of activity in shoes. My becomes aggravated after biking and running and sometimes walking. I…

Earned my Yellow Belt
I started martial arts back in October. My sons and I have been training in the Kyuki Do form. Last night, I finally earned my Yellow Belt. It felt so good to have reached this goal. I would highly recommend martial arts as a way to get the whole family involved in a fitness activity.

I channeled my inner warrior.
I think I had one of my best martial arts classes today. I was so focused in class and I did not let my children distract me. This focus led me to harder, higher and stronger kicks and punches than I have ever had before. It's a shame that my children do not love it as much as I do. Does anyone else here participate in a…

Magazine article?
I was just curious to how many of you found this website through a certain magazine geared towards parents. I know I found it in the February issue and I am so glad that I did.

Do you ever go to bed hungry?
Now that I am logging in my daily intake of food, I cut myself off from eating because I am near or over what I should be intaking. Last night, I was still hungry, but refrained from eating and tonight I am hungry again. I woke up in the morning starving and ate right away which is not like me. Do you ever let yourself go…

New to this board
HI. I am a SAHM of two young ones. They keep me busy as well as the house cleaning, etc does. I try to get to the gym at least 3 times per week. Most weeks are good, but others are only okay. What is great is that I take Kyuki-Do lessons with my boys two times per week. I do not count those as my gym workouts. I have found…
