I am missing my starches!

Since I started Boot Camp this week, I thought that I would add a Low Glycemic Diet to go along with it. I am not scratching all carbs, so I still have energy, but I didn't realize how badly I wanted a piece of toast with my eggs, a tortilla for my turkey and some pasta with my salad.

Ugh! If I can go 40 days without a cookie, why can't I go 3 days without a bread?

I'm low carbing too- it gets easier!
This muffin has really helped out my bready cravings-

Also I just found out (through a low carb forum) that boiled diced celery is a good pasta substitute, I had some with alfredo sauce the other day- loved it! I'm going to make tuna "noodle" casserole with some tomorrow. Joseph's flax pitas have only 4 net carbs and are really tasty. Microwaved cheese slices make good crackers...
Those are my best tips for you. Good luck!

    Maybe your body needs it.

Starches aren't inherently bad. They are a complex carb (NOT simple carb), just the most basic. Your body needs carbs, even the starches, in order to function.
Maybe try reduced starches (only a few a day) instead of none. And go for the whole grains (whole wheat bread, brown rice, etc). They have more nutrients, a whole lot more natural flavor (needing less butter, jam, etc), and fill you up longer than refined.

Try Miracle Noodles: no carbs, no calories and no fat. I just ordered some and they came in today. I tried them and they are very good and filling.

Ezekiel spouted 4:19 (?) english muffins and bread are low glycemic index. That is what I eat for my bread because it is low glycemic index and a low sodium. I buy it frozen in the health food section.

I found great tortillas. I am definitely not low-carbing, but I like high fiber... which is why I got them. I wouldn't low carb. It doesn't suit me. I have cut back on breads and pastas, but I would never give them up altogether.

Ole Xtreme wellness High fiber low carb tortillas. I get them at Sam's club. They have 12 g of fiber, 5 g net carbs, 8 g protein, and only 71 calories each. *LOVE* them. They're really soft and delish.

I am trying to follow the Fat Flush Diet in the book "The 40-30-30 Formula" by Gene and Joyce Daoust. I have done their Regular Plan before and was successful in shedding belly fat.

It is normally a 21 day flush and I am trying to find the willpower just to make it to one week. I am not been 100% successful so far, but I don't want to "blow it". I have never missed bread this much.

You know they say that when you can't have something, you want it even more. Maybe that's just what I am gong through.

I do appreciate all of your suggestions for Low GI carb choices. I will definitely be on the lookout for those when I start to add them back in. I also thought that saying it out loud to others in my boat would also help me find the willpower.
