Earned my Yellow Belt

I started martial arts back in October. My sons and I have been training in the Kyuki Do form. Last night, I finally earned my Yellow Belt. It felt so good to have reached this goal.
I would highly recommend martial arts as a way to get the whole family involved in a fitness activity.

Awesome!! Way to go! I love martial arts! I have a 1st DAN black belt in Tae Kwon Do and am now training in Goju-Ryu Karate and hope to test next year for my black belt in that style as well.
Martial arts is so amazing for discipline, fitness and fun. And I love that no matter who you are, what you do, how old you are, you can succeed in martial arts.
Congrats and keep at it!0 -
Way to go. Keep it up. Martial Arts is awesome. I do Muay Thai Kickboxing and love it. I have been at it for 3 years and I am a red belt. I laid off for 9 months and put on 40 lbs. I have been back at it for 3 weeks now and lost 20 lbs. This time around I plan on watching what I eat. I want to lose the other 20 lbs plus an additional 50.
It is awesome that you do it with you kids. That is great bonding.0 -
I couldn't agree more. I have so much fun learning new things that I don't realize until after the class is over that I am sweating profusely and my muscles are screaming at me. I am studying a Mixed martial art of Krav Maga, Jui jitsu, and Tae Kwon Do in case anyone was wondering.0

Congratulations!!!
My daughters and I did taekwondo for a while.. one is a camo belt and the other is yellow. It is a wonderful activity for everyone. They decided to take a break since it was interferring with school and grades but they will resume over the summer break.0 -
awesome for you!!
My kids are involved and I've had half a mind to join..but I doubt they have a gi my size, and if they did I'm sure I'd feel like a pillow in it - even if the belt fit. So that's a fitness plan for another few sizes down!!0 -
Well I was excited to see a post about Martial Arts... I started 3 weeks ago doing Tae Kwando and I have to say I love it! My kids take the Juniors class and I do the adult classes. We go 4 days a week and come Friday I am a little depressed that I can't go for the next 3 days. We are very lucky where we live because we are trained by one of the best martial arts instructors in the nation. I typically burn anywhere from 350-400 calories each class which is 45 minutes (10 minutes of that is usually pattern work so not as intense). Somedays are definalty harder than others but I have to say the worse my body feels after my workout, the happier I am! GOOD luck to everyone on their weight loss challenges!0
