  • I really love Irish Breakfast, Chai, and Peppermint. If I eat anything with the tea, it's usually one of my muffin recipes (e.g., Coconut Flour Blueberry Muffins or Paleo Banana Chocolate Muffins). BTW, I am not paleo, but I like baking with coconut and almond flours, as they provide higher fiber baked goods.
  • This Thai Peanut Chicken slow cooker recipe from Slender Kitchen is one of my favorites. Easy, delicious, low calorie. http://www.slenderkitchen.com/slow-cooker-thai-peanut-chicken/# BTW, I don't use the reduced-fat peanut butter the recipe calls for. I use regular peanut butter. It adds only about 20 more calories.
  • When I eat cereal, I love Barbara's Cinnamon Puffins. 1 serving (2/3 cup or 30g) has 90 calories and 6g of dietary fiber. I also like a lot of the Kashi cereals. I especially like the GOLEAN Crisp! Cinnamon. Why, yes, I really like cinnamon.
  • You can push through when it's muscle fatigue. But as the above poster already pointed out, knees and ankles are joints. You should never push through joint pain. Ignoring it will only make it worse. With regards to getting rid of it, what the above poster said. You need to figure out what is causing it and correct that.
  • Dead lifts are my favorite exercise, followed by skull crushers. So I do them pretty regularly (but do mix it up). I see other people at my gym do them (albeit not the majority), and my trainer is a big fan of them. But I can imagine that there are places where they are unusual.
  • First picture was taken in April, 2013 while on vacation. Second picture is approx. 32 pounds lighter, taken on March 15, 2014, after finishing my first 5K!
  • You can add me. I've got a public diary. I'm 5'5" and when I started on this journey last year, I was 202.7 lbs. I'm now down to 161.8 lbs. Because I'm 2x your age, my daily caloric goal is a bit lower than yours.
  • The Creative Zen X-Fi supports Bluetooth, and it's about USD 100. The Samsung Galaxy Player also supports Bluetooth, but that's closer to USD 200.

  • As somebody else already said, yes! Vis a vis WW vs. MFP - I started this year using WW and lost my first 20 lbs on that. The rest I've dropped using MFP. I switched in June. What I like better about MFP is that it gives you better control over your macronutrients. WW does calculate the point value of foods by taking into…
  • Rock on!
  • I echo the people suggesting you see a registered dietician (RD) for this issue. An RD will be able to assess your food intake, measure your macronutrient levels, and provide sound advice on how to tweak your diet.

  • I've lost 27 lbs. since January. In terms of low-cal breakfasts - Does your canteen serve porridge? That's a really good and filling low-cal breakfast. 1 cup of cooked porridge has about 150 calories. Adding some fruit to that won't add that much more in caloric content and will pump up the fiber content even more. Eggs…
  • I either add fruit or make my own vanilla yogurt by adding vanilla extract and a packet of Stevia.
  • Hi. I have Crohn's too, but have never been on prednisone, which I'm assuming is what you are on. I'm on another corticosteroid - Entocort - which seems to have fewer of the negative side effects of prednisone. I don't get the moon face or weight gain on it. Have you spoken with your GI about other steroids? Or, due to the…

  • I am officially now hungry! I love steak and kidney pudding, bubble and squeak, Ploughman's lunch, and shepherd's pie (in fairness, I prefer a cottage pie). I also love a curry, and although I can get it in New York City, not as good as in London. Yum!
  • I've had Yorkshire pudding and Eton Mess, but never the UK version of toad in a hole. In the US, toad in a hole is an egg cooked in a hole cut out in a slice of bread, which I've had. I used to spend a fair amount of time in London and finally tried brown sugar in coffee. As an American, that seemed so weird to me, but…
  • If you're seeing a lot of doctors, and they aren't concerned, I guess just monitor it a bit longer and see if the weight loss levels off. I assume your blood work is OK on the non-IBS related items. By which I mean that your C-reactive proteins and/or ESR (sed rate) are likely elevated as a result of intestinal…
  • Hi. I'm 5'5". Started the year at 203, now down to 175. I log every day. Please feel free to add me as a friend.

  • You have IBS and Diverticulosis, lost 21 pounds in 24 days, and your doctors aren't worried? I have Crohn's Disease, which is a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, so not dissimilar to what you have. May I suggest you get a second opinion? It may be that you are losing weight so quickly because you aren't able to absorb…
  • I'm just under 5'5" and I eat around 1,400 calories a day. I am working with a registered dietician, and she and I discussed what I was most comfortable with in the range between 1,300 - 1,500 calories a day to lose approx. 1 lb. per week. I find 1,300 calories too restrictive, but am pretty comfortable on 1,400. I don't…
