That must feel great!

This. It took me about four attempts to run 1km without stopping. I managed 2km three weeks later, after a terrible spell of hot weather and not being able to run outside, but then 3km only four days later. After this I got a bit of advice, which was never to do less than 3km, because I now knew I could do it. Something in…

Congratulations!

So you should be - that's great!!

When I started reading I wondered whether you were perhaps going through some hormonal 'stuff', or just having to re-adjust to eating less/differently. but your last couple of sentences changed my mind. Do you still have a support network, or a GP you could talk to?
-
No, me neither. I must have a long-distance runner fighting to get out of me! Yes! Yes, actually, I do. I seem to get very bound up in all kinds of silly stuff like the fact it was slow, or that my parents don't 'get it', or that a colleague at work always bangs on about how he's gone quicker and further...but you know…

10km (6.2 miles) on Monday. It's getting a bit silly - three weeks ago I was jumping up and down because I'd done 3km. I think I'm just doing it to show my brain that such things are possible, so it will shut up when I start doing speed training :D

I'm a UK size 11. Which they haven't invented yet.

Mizuno Wave Inspire 9 Outside on really quite bad pavements. Anything between 2-6 miles. I overpronate - my joints are a bit weird! 5', 142lbs

I usually see whether they make eye contact, and if not I don't bother. Only one person ever has! I'm sure one bloke I met on Monday was doing Zombies, Run because he looked stressed out of his mind :D

This was just great...

I started pretty much unable to do anything. I worked out that a run round the block was exactly a kilometre and started out trying to run that without stopping. It took three or four attempts and then on 1st July I did it - before going out later that evening and doing it again! I had real trouble breathing and didn't…

Thanks for reminding me - I missed it (ironically because I was doing exercise :D).
-
Running six miles without rain assistance :D
-
Protein shaker!
-
Oh heck...does that mean that beanz meanz gainz as well!?
-
LOL, thank you - if you've accidentally done 9.2 then 10 should come just as easy ;-) I was expecting the Oxfam 'crew' to turn up at my house after I'd finished. It would have been so tempting to open the door to them, still red-faced and sweating, and say something like, "Try me". :D

Don't mention the whoosh :ohwell:
-
You need to start logging and stop giving into temptation before trying something like that, I fear. Then you'll find you don't actually need anything like that!
-
This sounds doable! I'll start with the first, smaller one and then have a go at doubling the second running leg...erk xD
-
Bumping this one...

Ran 7km yesterday, so I've now hit: 31st July: 2km 4th August: 3km 9th August: 5km 16th August: 7km My target was 5km, and I thought it was going to take me months and months (and I thought I might end up entering an 'official' one to get there)...um...
-
Congratulations - I'm glad I've read this, as I've gone from 2km to 7km in less than three weeks and couldn't quite believe it!
-
Yes - my own mother! I think she just hates the idea that I might achieve something without her input, as she's had nothing at all to do with me running.
-
Would the tapeworm thing not be easier?
-
Protein shakes immediately after exercise stop my muscles aching. And I can't deny that taking calcium/magnesium helps me sleep, which seems to help the weight come off more easily. It could be my imagination, but...
-
Well done! It is a good feeling!
-
That's bizarre...I had the same thought two seconds before scrolling down and seeing your post...
-
Yes. I know someone of your height who completes half-marathons in about 90 minutes. I know how you feel, however - I currently remain stubbornly slow!!
-
Please, please get your gait analysed and get shoes fitted by an expert. I overpronate and it was the best thing I ever did - and not just for my running!!
