Yeah-- I am trying to redefine my goal from doing what "works" to what allows me to feel good and enjoy my life. It can be tough to find that balance between putting forth some effort and turning a "lifestyle" into a job. And you are right- injury does NOT help. Not at ALL. I am cheering for you, though! Hang in there!

Awww shucks! As always, happy to help. That evening snacking thing is a b**tch and a half, man. You might want to look at some low carb sites and find recipes for "treats" that are sugar free (but not low-cal) that will fill you up. That is what works for me. It has to be something REALLY delicious though, so it feels like…

It is!! :)

I have found that having a really high calorie day every once in awhile keeps me from stalling. My body is probably like WTH?? and this is a good thing-- keeps the ole' bod guessing!

Thanks so much for these. I will be checking them out this weekend!

If this happens to me I will cry. :'( I LOVE coffee!! <3

HI! I am new, too! Everyone here is super nice and supportive! Welcome!
-
YAY! Sounds like you have a good plan! Keep up the great work!

Thanks!

I am the same as ^^ this^^.

Just sent a request. :)

Super! I appreciate the welcome, the tips, and the links. :) Having VSG (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) helped with the hunger somewhat-- but I do still get hungry and the cravings can be maddening if I am eating too many carbs. I am not real big on fake sugar-- I will admit to adding a little to my coffee and drinking the…

I agree about the slippery slope but I have not been real successful with avoiding sugar. I end up eating what I planned and then sugar on top of it. At least this way I make sure my calls are super low for much of the day to avoid weight gain when I "indulge" in the evening. I understand it isn't ideal, but at least I'm…

I have not gotten used to it yet-- but I drink coffee and that helps. :)

Ok-- so yesterday I did not eat "dinner" until 7pm-- I had 4oz of chicken and a slice of bread with 1 Tb of butter on it (about 400 cals). Then about 90 mins later I had microwave popcorn (about 5 cups), a large whoopie pie (two cake rounds with butter cream icing between them) and 2 large handfuls of peanut butter M&Ms…

My natural instinct is to say (in my head of course) "Hold that thought-- because every other time I have lost weight, I gained it back-- this will likely be the same"-- but I am FIGHTING that instinct! When I have that thought, I correct myself and say "I am doing great today". So I have at least stopped projecting that I…

You have gotten a lot of good advice about the weight related stuff-- I wanted to address smoking. I found myself smoking a lot more when I was losing as a way to avoid eating. I really struggled when trying to quit-- if you do decide to "pick up" again- I recommend vaping. I have not smoked a cigarette in over a month…

I totally agree with this. For me, the "game" of maintaining is all about finding ways to keep my body from deciding that at 1200 cals per day I will GAIN-- that is effin CRAZY. I do NOT want to have to live eating only 1200 cals a day for LIFE. Yuck. So I am lifting weights and doing cardio and mixing it up with regard to…

Super progress!!

Hey! Welcome back!
-
WOW!! Big changes! YAY!!
-
I bet that is an awesome feeling! I am looking forward to getting to "good enough" one day soon. :)

I thought this, too-- but it was not just that their goal kept changing-- it changed in such a way that the distance to the goal was always the same. For example, if the goal was "three body sizes" away pre surgery-- then it was still "three body sizes away" when they chose their ideal figure 6 months post op--- even if…

I thank you both-- I receive so much help and encouragement being a part of this community-- if I am able to give a little back, I am thrilled!! :)

Super! You have done really well from the "git go" so I am not surprised that maintenance was a smooth transition. Yeah--- THIS^^^---exactly! Why focus on the few who may criticize instead of the oodles of folks who love and support me? This made me LOL. I appreciate your support and friendship here at MFP. :)

SUPER!!! I loved that feeling the first time I traveled after surgery!
