What our weight does is always the result of how much we are eating. Since you are not losing weight you are eating at maintenance which means, setting aside any medical conditions that need attention, you are eating more than you realize. How are you determining that you are accurate in calories in/calories out?

No food is good or bad, and unhealthy is the perception. Negative self talk is bad, though--you didn't ruin your progress, you took a temporary shortcut. ;) Seriously, give yourself a break. :D

You do know that for you to gain 5-7 pounds you will need to consume 17,500 to 24,500 over your total daily energy expenditure on a consistent basis-right? So, divide that by how many days you are on vacation to get a daily average of how much you would end up eating/drinking over. That's being realistic. You said you…

[fill in the blank] is fattening. As if eating said food really will make you fat.

Please let us know how it goes. :)

You don't have to log or weigh a thing if you don't want to, but you do have to eat at a calorie deficit to lose weight. For me, logging and weighing food is fun, takes little time, and helps me to stay on track to maintain my weight. My portion control meter has pretty much been broken my entire life, and I don't expect…

Please call tomorrow and make that MD appt. What you are describing is not normal, and you need medical attention asap.
-
Do you mean it's not an acceptable source? If so, I agree. Peer reviewed articles work much better.
-
Sure, it works for you and other people, but not for everybody.

Oh gosh.....been there, done that. I thought I could not do anything at all while fat, much less date. I mean, why would anybody want to be with me, the fat girl? As if all of my attributes were hidden just because I was fat. Fat was the reason I put up that wall between me and men, and even between me and other people.…

Cool beans, kiddo!! Congratulations on job well done!

Oh....this is a joke post. Thanks for the good giggle. ;)

Yes, because they have calories, and calories add up.

Isn't that a comedy TV show about zombies? The pro is that it's probably pretty darned funny since Drew Barrymore is in it, and the con is the fate of the neighbors of people who are on the Santa Clarita diet. :open_mouth:

There is no magic in low carb. ;) It works for some people because it keeps them satiated enough to maintain a calorie deficit. A calorie deficit is required to lose weight, but how you get there is completely individual. Mr. Bundles, I love your name!!! If you want to lose weight, I suggest eating the foods you love in…

I always break it down, and I weight the foods separately. I will either use a recipe builder to make a recipe or I will just enter the foods in my diary. So far, so good. Winging it is what led to my weight gain because my winging it barometer is broken beyond repair. :D

@marniehecknauer, welcome! No matter what you've done in the past, the only way you will lose fat is to eat at a calorie deficit. I say listen to your son and start tracking every single thing you consume. If you track your macros in such a way that a certain balance will keep you satiated so that you stay in your calorie…

Good idea. My grandmother used to use the empty milk cartons for food garbage.

This is scary. :D

Have you done a search at Pintrest yet? They are full of creative ideas. Reuse smaller plastic containers Reuse large Plastic containers. Reuse huge plastic containers

That sounds good. Still, if you're having headaches and migraines, I'd go to the MD.

I have not read all of the replies, but I do have some tips: 1. Drop the trainer because she has no idea what she's talking about. There is absolutely no reason to do a detox because: a. Detoxes don't work, they are a fad only b. Your body naturally gets rid of toxins all by itself. If this is not happening, you need to go…

You betcha! We're not gonna lead you astray.

Google and similar search engines provides lots of inaccurate research. Food does not speed up metabolism.

As to the bold part: it is not okay for someone who is already close to a normal weight. Also, just because you chose an aggressive goal and succeeded does not make it okay.

Why are you trying to lose 20 pounds in 8 weeks? You know you will lose muscle mass and gain the weight back.
-
Thanks for sharing this. It's important that you get professional help from someone who specializes in BED. I also agree that Overeater's Anonymous is a great group to provide support. :)

What is the purpose of losing muscle mass along with fat prior to a vacation and then gaining it back during your vacation? I don't get it, I really don't. Why not just set some reasonable weight loss goals and then eat at maintenance during your vacation?

What qualifies as a binge for you? What is unhealthy food to you? It's not good to demonize food. If you are a weekend eater, eat less on the weekdays and save calories for the weekend.

I eat everything in moderation, sometimes eat too much of what I love, but I have a problem baking cookies because I love the dough and freshly baked cookies. For this reason, I don't bake often, but when I do I plan in the dough and the cookies.
