Most doctors don't know a whole lot about nutrition, so patients with dietary issues should be referred to a dietitian. The way to lose weight is to eat at a calorie deficit no matter what type of diet you choose. Low/lower carb works well for some, not so well for others.
-
I don't buy this. Any excess food over her TDEE will cause weight gain, not just the carbs.
-
Also, try doing some abdominal exercise. I find that helps me. Nope on these two. Gynecological issues and birth control have nothing to do with belly fat.
-
Sorry, but you can't spot reduce., and there is no magic diet that can get rid of it. Whatever there is of your belly on a five foot five 116 pound person is genetics.
-
But, Josh, you are talking about being terrified of carbs here, talked elsewhere about not wanting any rest days from exercise, and you are very thin. Certainly, it is your business but you are on here sharing with us, which opens the door for us to comment. Lots of people are voicing concern.
-
And, is your illness cured with this?
-
What?
-
I posted my previous question before seeing your answer. Please push for further testing with your regular doctor.
-
Have you been to the doctor?
-
Really? Can you please share some of your research?
-
I can't tell you how many years I have been eating a banana with my breakfast. My weight loss has not been hindered, and I'm not dead yet.
-
Josh, if your avatar picture is current I am concerned because you are very thin. If it is not, I encourage you to post a current photograph at your healthy weight.
-
Um... nobody is mocking Josh.
-
Still, this would not affect weight loss as long as she's in a calorie deficit.
-
No, days off are important for me for both mental and physical health. You really need to get help for your issues around food and being frightened allowing yourself rest from exercise.
-
Why not just eat real food? There is no reason to deprive yourself. The only reason that Herbalife has been working is because you've been in a calorie deficit. In other words, it's the product has not magic to it. Eat real food within your calorie deficit and you will lose weight. :)
-
Nope. On the other hand, please share your research on this.
-
This is 100% unrealistic, and probably really bad for your body. Why do you want to burn 1500 calorie at the gym? Your profile says you gained 40 pounds, why I presume is what you're trying to lose. Well, to do this all you have to do is eat at a calorie deficit. Exercise is just an added bonus, and trying to hit a certain…

Josh, I am very concerned, and I don't believe I've interacted with you before. Is that you in your picture? If so, you look way too thin. What are your goals? Are you trying to put on weight instead of lose? You are scared of carbs, or certain food types, indicating that you are assigning food a certain power over you.…

It does not rev up metabolism either, and it does not balance hormones. You were most likely experiencing natural fluctuations because the only way to lose weight is to eat at a calorie deficit.
-
It doesn't matter as to wight loss when you eat your last meal. It's only bad if eating right before bed interferes with sleep or gives you stomach upset.
-
Also, @hotfroggymama, I see you've lost 20 some odd pounds of 40 some odd. Why are you doing this odd drinky thing?
-
But, the only way to lose weight is to eat less than your burn. Therefore, the medications don't cause the weight gain, overeating from the side effect of medication does. No, there is no reason to avoid state cardio. I'd like a peer reviewed study backing up your claim that steady state cardio reduced BMR over time. In…

No kidding! It sure is. :)

There is no such thing as a weight loss miracle, especially when it comes to any weight loss plan that is endorsed by Dr. Oz. The only reason you are seeing this concoction all over social media, etc. is because those mechanisms are being used to sell their product(s), or to promote the social media itself. There is no…

I love being a geek!

With all due respect, your posting is filled with sweeping generalizations. Weight loss does not live a box, and we are not cardboard people who all handle weight loss the same way. The only requirement for weight loss is a calorie deficit, but otherwise you are wrong. 1. Lots of people have lost weight because they bought…

I don't know you, but I am very proud of you and support you in making necessary health changes. Always love that chair that's your motivation!!! And, I feel you 100%! I remember when I was really down on myself for being 220 pounds. Because of my weight, nobody liked me, they didn't want to sit next to me, my family was…

Nope, not my thing. I do, however, like cold purple grapes on my salads.

Nowhere do I advocate not paying attention to your macros/micros/nutrition, so you are right- that's not what I'm advocating at all. ;) No, telling someone to eat what they've been eating just less of it is not bad advice in the context of weight loss because the only requirement to lose weight is to eat less calories than…
