Eat at a calorie deficit.
-
This. It all comes down to choices based on your goals, and remember...you never have to have it all. You can share a treat with someone else too, or simply eat half and save the rest for tomorrow.
-
Yep. It seems to me food type provides nutrients that can either help or hinder us when it comes to satiety, energy levels, and meeting macros and micros.

This sounds interesting. Tell me more, please....is banana batter just crushed bananas, or are there other ingredients?

Weekdays it's oatmeal (either steel cut, organic, or Irish) with peanut butter, fruit, and almond, coconut, or cashew milk, homemade mocha. Weekends it's French toast made with homemade bread, fruit, sugar free syrup (simply because I've never liked the regular syrup), bacon, and homemade mocha. For me, breakfast is my…

Nope. Set your calorie goals up in MFP, stick to your calorie deficit, and you will lose weight.
-
Nope. Food type is preference only and has nothing to do with weight loss. Calories in/calories out does.

Says you. Lol. Nice try. ;) Exercise is wonderful and I love it, but I don't excercise to ßuppoty my eating, I eat to fuel my body for exercise. Likewise, if I'm sedentary or chose not to exercise, then I would need to fuel my body accordingly. And your blanket statement about those who say all calories being created as…

The bold part is not 100% accurate. I'm 53 and my skin has bounced back over the last year. I've seen quite a difference. However, the caveat is that I weight lift and have been doing so for years (thought it's just been heavy weight lifting for about a year and a half).

Welcome, Em. Congratulations on your weight loss thus far! Elasticity of the skin as to do with many factors, including genetics, how fast/slow you lose you weight, whether you did any resistance training while losing weight, and probably countless other things. I believe the tidbit about soy/tofu and fish oil supplements…

Ignoring? Preconceived notion? Right. ;) Weight management happens in the kitchen. Once you have the food issue under control, you can reach your goals whether or not you choose to exercise.
-
What?
-
I run....and I'm 53! :)
-
Fit your desert into your calorie goals.
-
Missed that part. :) That is too soon to tell anything at all.

Then you were more active, or you just think you were eating more. No matter what type of diet you choose, your must eat less calories than you burn to lose weight. It's science.
-
Yes I did ;) My share is not ridiculous, and it is in line with the path the conversation has taken (read prior comments). If you (you in the general sense, not you personally) don't learn how to create a calorie deficit through food first, then how will you keep the weight off if you find yourself unable to exercise? My…

Did you get a chance to read his whole scenerio? He was struggling with medical issues and did not exercise for quite some time. In that situation, if you don't want to gain weght, you eat less.
-
What? LOL! It's not about what happens to the calories. It's about exercise being 100% not necessary to lose weight. If it were necessary, then people who can't exercise would never lose weight. If I want to lose weight, I need to eat less food. If already exercise, which makes my TDEE higher, then I still need to eat less…
-
You need to eat less. Keto is not a magic diet.
-
And everygody I know does get the stinky pee from asparagus. It has nothing to do with genetics.
-
But, lack of willpower is the reason people overeat. Some of the things you mentioned in your post are wonderful tips to increase willpower. ;) Listening to our bodies is what got many of us overweight in the first place. :)

You won't gain weight unless you eat at a calorie surplus. You will lose weight if you eat at a calorie deficit. Do you weigh your food and log every single thing you eat? Do you ensure that you are using correct entries? It might help if you open your diary too. If you are weight lifting, you would not eat those exercise…

Drink water and accept that water weight happens. Don't get hung up on the number on the scale.
-
Nope, I wouldn't say a word. Not my business. They need to to figure it out for themselves.

I tried to eat a snack in the middle of the night once just to see what it was like, but it did nothing for me. I'm glad I'm not a night eater. The only way to get control of something is to tell yourself no. When you get up to go the restroom, walk right past that fridge and simply don't open the door, and go back to bed.…

I am sorry you had all the medical issues, and congratulations on overcoming them. You gained weight because you took in too many calories. Had you eaten less, you would not have gained. It's science. You did not have to exercise to lose weight. Getting to a "good fitness level" does not ensure that a healthy weight will…

Just keep going! :) You can do this! Keep in mind, though, none of us get to choose where the fat leaves first, last, or whenever.

Before I gained my 33 pounds back, I bought a size 6 at Ann Taylor Loft when I knew that I wore a size 8. I try those pants on now and they fall off me. I think Ann Taylor is very much into vanity sizing.

Chris, you would continue whatever exercise suits you. You just go into MFP and change your rate of weight loss. For example, if you goal was to lose 2 pounds a week, you might want to raise it to lose only 1 pound a week. When I first started my weight loss journey, I lost weight quicker than what I had set my goals for.…
