  • Holly, Of course the website says that, they want people to buy their product. I've heard body wraps make a person feel good. However, any fat loss is going to have to happen in the kitchen. By the way, there is no reason to detox your body because your body is already a keen mean detoxing machine!
  • No problem. :) However, the iissue is that too many people think they have to practically starve themselves (as in not eat enough) to lose weight. How is it that you are eating 1200 or less when you exercise and run marathons? That is not properly fueling your body.
  • I'm not sure what your reaction means. Care to clarify? While Trigen pointed out some examples of why he believes below 1200 might be appropriate for some people, it's still remains true that for most people 1200 is too low.
  • I question whether her calculations are accurate, though. Inaccuracy is the number on reason why we think our metabolism is screwed up.
  • There is no riddle to this. Your calorie balance is not really what it shows above, otherwise you would indeed be losing weight much quicker. With your loss of approximately almost 7 pounds in 3 months (that about 2.25 pounds a month), you are eating way more, meaning some calculations are not correct. That's a good thing,…
  • Wait a minute. Why would you say going below 1200 calories is healthy, when that is below most people's BMR, the amount that sustains a person who is sedentary? Please give examples.
  • Three years ago I was where you are at now. I started out by setting my goals to lose at 2 lbs a week, which was 1200 calories a day. At first I did not lose much because I was not weighing and logging food and eating way more than I realized. Once I started weighing and logging food, I started losing weight too fast. I…
  • Welcome! Carb cycling works well for some, not so well for others. There is certainly no magic to it. Just find the program that is right for you because you can stick with it. Remember this: no weight management program is right or wrong, it's all about the program that is right for you to reach your goals. :)
  • Perhaps you missed this part: You are missing the point. A tumor growing anywhere and causing weight gain is more the exception than the rule. The number one cause for weight gain is eating too much.
  • But.....you do realize that if one gains weight from a tumor that it's the tumor and not actual fat gain, and tumor is not really going to make them obese? If the tumor causes an increase in appetite, then sure.....if that person eats more calories than they burn they will gain weight, but it's from overeating. One gaining…
  • I've was obese up until I was 40, so I know every single excuse in the book regarding getting fat and staying fat. The bottom line is that you don't catch obesity, you cause it by eating too much food. The number one reason people gain weight, or can't lose it, is because they eat too much. Any other reason would have to…
  • I really feel strongly that this is bad advice because we know nothing about Jeremy (the OP). We also are not his doctors and should not be making any type of diagnosis. Also, paleo, low carb, low sugar, high protein, or any other diet type(s), is not magic. Eating at a calorie deficit is required to lose weight. If you…
  • Fruits and veggies have carbs. No food contributes to weight gain, just an overabundance does that. I love my carbs..... :)
  • I cooked mine in the crockpot while I was at the gym this morning, and now I have oats for the entire week!! I'm sooooo happy!
  • Get a new chiropractor. He's full of it. I, and millions of other people, eat oatmeal on a regular basis. In fact, I eat it every weekday morning for breakfast. Continue to eat your oatmeal, and.....enjoy!
  • Hello Holly, Your friend needs a new doc, and you need to stop listening to silly stuff like this. The only food that's bad for a person is that which he/she is allergic or intolerant to. :)
  • Ohhhh. Thanks for clarifying. ;) ;) Should not. The only thing required to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Diet type is generally irrelevant, but only relevant to you if it helps you keep a calorie deficit. Eat real food in a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.
  • Well, shoot, I'm with you....very lost at the moment. OP, in response to you--none of the above.
  • Why would you (1) exercise 94 minutes on an elliptical and (2) exercise until your feet are sore? If you used the 900 calorie burn showed on the elliptical, that is about 200-300 overstated.
  • Being an avid runner, it is always worth getting fitted for proper running shoes. No exceptions. The sporting store you go to testing should advise you accordingly. :)
  • What workout do you do to burn 1200 plus calories? (I'm thinking probably long bike rides. :)).
  • Even when I've done an extra long for me, I don't think I burned 500 calories. The most in any workout I've burned is 450 calories on a 6 mile run, which took me over an hour.
  • I don't understand why burning a certain amount of calories at the gym is so important. What about increasing cardiovascular health, becoming stronger, and simply enjoying the experience of exercising? As for me, it's my goal to spend 50-60 minutes exercising each day. I enjoy running and lifting, and playing around on…
  • Oh my goodness, for desert tonight I had 32 grams salted caramel chocolate bar. It made me smile, and is better than a tummy tuck could ever be!
  • It's great she's at a healthier weight, but she basically crashed dieted to lose weight quickly. That's not good. Well...no you don't. 110 pounds in 8 months is ridiculously fast. That's an average of almost 14 pounds a month, which further averages out to over 3 pounds a week. Eating 1200 and then exercising obviously…
  • You've lost an average of 3.5 lbs since January? That comes out to about a half pound a week and is great! What are your stats? The smaller and closer to a normal weight you are, the slower your weight loss and the smaller your deficit should be set to. In other words if you are 145 lbs wanting to lose ten, a half pound is…
  • 1. Eat at a calorie deficit. 2. Eat less calories than you burn. 3. Burn more calories than you eat. 4. Buy a food scale, weigh all your food and log every single thing you eat. 5. Don't give up any foods because you can lose weight eating the foods you love.
  • I can't join at the moment due to time constraints, but this is a great idea!
  • I wondered if she was vomiting up all that food.
  • I encourage you to take a step back and try to see things from our perspective. We cannot answer a hypothetical questions about future weight gain. We can only say if you eat too much you will gain weight, just like anyone else can. From what you describe, there is no way that any qualified therapist would say you don't…
