  • I do eat a 'proper' amount, I don't go hungry and most of my meals are nicely balanced. I thought that the effect of the metabolism slowing down (eg. Starvation mode) had been disproved, or at least found not applicable to humans on a diet? I already eat 4-5 small meals a day, I don't think I could fit any more in!
  • My underwear/knickers kept falling down inside my jeans the other day, so I put some on I'd bought a while back that were always a bit too small for me and not only did they fit but they also fell down inside my jeans the next day! I think I need some new underwear.
  • W1D2, found it a bit harder today than yesterday. I think I may repeat week 1 after this week until I can do every minute of running from beginning to end (I'm only managing 6 at the moment). Thanks for the advice and stories :-)
  • Just started today W1D1. I'm Asthmatic, (exercise induced) and always thought outside running would be no no for me , but I was told to try Couch to 5k as the gradual buildup doesn't cause as much problems for my lungs. Whilst I've been going on 1.30hr walks three times a week for the last month, it was my calves rather…
  • So, thats it, May is over! Thank goodness for that. I think this saturday was the worst day for me, I had a bunch of the bridal party over to help with DIY decorations for the wedding, and I was getting other people drinks, including beer/cider! Then a few of them stayed until late and we were playing board games and…
  • Just thought I'd mention she said inch a month, not week, which is totally sustainable. For the OP - YMMV but I found that once I started working out that for about a month the scale stayed the same, and my measurements varied (went up on some parts of my body, went down on others) but I started noticing the difference in…
  • It's never to late to start again, one day at a time!
  • Another weekend over, more temptation ignored. How did you all do? I see a few folk who added me as friends did a little wagon falling this week! I was away on a mini trip to Scotland this weekend where we had left some beer at the cottage we rent for us when we next visited. I managed to ignore that, and also when we went…
  • How did everyone do over the weekend? Me and my partner kept mentioning it all weekend, torturing ourselves. It's funny how you want what you've said you can't have! I think yesterday was probably the worst so far, we had a delicious fillet steak for dinner, and as I opened the fridge to get bbq sauce for the wedges, the…
  • Not failed, just a minor slip, giving something up always comes with a few hiccups along the way (taking as an ex smoker). I drank on Saturday as discussed, felt all day yesterday feeling rubbish, ate too much (including a Chinese deep fried take away) and still feel quite rough today! It can't be worth it. Good luck…
  • No judging here, bound to be a few slip ups on the way. There are 2 public holidays in May here in the UK and I bet they will be gloriously sunny and I'll be sitting in the garden, thinking of a nice ice-cold glass of beer! Ha!, no chance! Stopping that wouldn't help my fitness levels, in fact I'm sure it's actually good…
  • Great, I'll check back when May begins and we can all cheer each other on :-)
  • Thats exactly what I'm doing, and that is the reason I'm trialling this for a month. Everyone has their vices, socialising with friends and alcohol is one of my only ones. Once I've seen how I can still enjoy myself without alcohol I'm aiming to reintroduce it at a more sustainable level.
  • I'm in, January and February were good, but in this month (March) I've lost my Mojo and not lost anything. So this will be good for motivation :-)
  • I've seen that apparently only the step calories are taken over to MFP from Fitbit. If you log any other exercise in Fitbit, the calories it says you burned for that exercise will not be taken over to MFP. I only really noticed this myself when I logged a big workout and it didn't get taken over to MFP, which is why I went…
  • Did you know that Fitbit includes BMR calories? You burn calories all day every day just breathing and digesting food etc, your fitbit includes this and I doubt you HR monitor does, as it is only monitoring your exercise.
  • If you make your diary public we may be able to have a look and see if there is anything there that may shed some light?
  • I'm a Bride and my wedding is in August, looking to end up losing about 40lbs in time for the wedding (if at all possible) I refuse to get married at my fattest! add me if you want a friend.
  • Open, and apart from 30thJan-1st Feb (which was a 'cheat' weekend due to going away on holiday) I've been hitting most of my limits/goals :-)
  • I've added you! I have suspected Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue/ME (trying to get a definitive diagnosis from a doctor is proving very difficult). I seem to go through cycles of it, as in I am not ill every day, but then I have a few months where it effects me quite badly. I find my pain is there even when I don't have…
  • I try and make most of my own food, I have an open diary and all my recipes should be there to see, I'd love to have more foodie friends, it makes me sad when I look through peoples diaries and see nothing but raw celery and plain cottage cheese/quark! However, I've only just restarted logging from Monday (but you can look…
  • Just thought I'd mention that there was a little more to the experiments than the blogger says Quote - 'The regime was tough - during the six months they were being starved, the men were expected to walk or run 22 miles (36 kilometres) every week, expending over 1,000 calories more than they consumed each day. ' Source -…
