Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right! ---Henry Ford

And don't forget exercise of some sort. Get out and go for a walk. Any activity helps the "numbers".

I threw my scale away and only weigh at the gym.

Same for me. I think it's a habit of eating at that particular time. Try chewing gum. That way you have something in your mouth and don't have to eat anything. It usually works for me. I have to find some kind of distraction.

I haven't personally done colon detox but know firsthand a few (at least 4) who have. They all say it's bogus and don't waste your time and money.

I've heard that's a common side effect of some weight loss medications (if you're on any). Yoga works for me in that it teaches you how to clear your mind. On occasion I take diphenhydramine (Benadryl) to help me sleep. But that doesn't work for everyone.

"Normal" is different for everyone. It's important to keep your cholesterol levels within healthy limits. And if you have other risk factors for developing heart disease, you need to be even more careful — especially with your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad," cholesterol level. Your TOTAL cholesterol should ideally…

If you have extra blueberries that you don't know what to do with, try freezing them. Wash well and let dry. Place on a pan (like a large cookie sheet) in a single layer. Place pan in freezer. Once completely frozen, you can put the blueberries in a storage container or zippered bag and store them in the freezer. Then you…

When I had my wisdom teeth removed, the dentist used anesthesia to put me completely under. All I had to do was get the IV. The next thing I remember, they were waking me up from a really great nap. Two of my teeth had come partially through and the other 2 were impacted. If you are that scared of the dentist, just make…

The only option for me is just not buy it. It's better not to have it around anyway, especially if you have kids. And your husbands metabolism will not always be as it is now. It will slow down someday. If you both eat healthy now, he won't have to fight it when his slows. Also, be sure to talk to him about it. Tell him…

Not to discourage you but when I first started working out, it was over 3 months before I lost any weight. I could definitely see changes (muscles, inches lost, etc.) and my clothes fit looser but I didn't lose any weight for quite some time. Don't worry. Your body is changing for the better. The scale just doesn't show it…

I also think it takes the fun out of marriage. Plus, I know too many people who have lived together for many years before getting married (some so long that they were legally married before even having a ceremony), while those who didn't live together seem to get married sooner. So if you're looking to get married sooner…

All scales are a little different. That plus the clothing could easily account for 6 lbs. Don't be hard on yourself. Just go by what you normally do, it is more consistent that way.

My yoga instructor swears by hanging upside down. Either by standing and just letting the upper body dangle upside down for a bit (maybe 10 minutes) or by doing a headstand. She says it's the only thing that helps her headaches. For me, I just take tylenol, ibuprofen and caffeine. If that doesn't work, I just push on.…

I have skin problems too. My dermatologist prescribed ziana, a topical medication, which has been working pretty well for me. There is also a Smoothbeam laser treatment. Many insurance companies cover it for the cost of the office visit co-pay. It is designed to shrink oil glands and build collagen and usually takes at…

When I started working out, my appetite grew a lot too, especially at first. Plus, a month into it now, you're starting to build muscle.

I usually go with the lower number. It's better to err on the cautious side.

Try Tae Bo. That's one I am able to stick with and it kicks my butt.

I'm going to try these and substitute half of the margarine with applesauce. (In most recipes, applesauce can be substituted for all or most of the fat/oil.) Sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing.

Your body is adjusting to all the changes too. Maybe you'll lose 5 lbs. one week, one the next and 7 the next. Just don't give up. You'll love yourself for making yourself healthy. Not to mention the added years of your life to spend with your family and friends. Health is not a one time diet, it is a constant way of life.

Prior to joining a gym, Tae Bo (Billy Blanks) was a great workout for me. I did the basic for a few months and then the advanced after that. I really noticed a difference in my body and it especially toned my arms. People even commented about my biceps. I think Tae Bo is a good choice if you are able to be consistant with…

Very Interesting!!!! I do truly understand the frustration of dealing with doctors and insurance and definitely agree that healthcare is far from perfect. I feel, however, that I have to provide some information from the "other side". I am a registered nurse (12 yrs.) and am married to an MD. This is not meant in any way…

You can also elevate your legs after the walk to help relieve the symptoms.

Are these like the crystal light powders? Or some other type? I'd like to try a new one. Some powder packs add a lot of sugar and carbs though.

You definitely don't want to be in a constant deficit. Your body will go into a kind of "starvation mode" where it works harder to hold on to fat. Eventually, it will be harder and harder to lose weight because your body is so used to cherishing those calories.

If it's in my house, I'll eat it so the thing that works best for me is just not to buy it in the first place. I have more willpower to say no when I am at the grocery store than at home, so I am usually able to keep myself from buying it. But I have to make sure I don't go shopping when I'm hungry or I buy all the treats.…

Try a heart rate monitor. (The kind you wear around your chest and comes with a watch.) These are much more accurate than guessing how many calories you burn. Most have basic time, calories burned, and total exercise time. Then the higher end more expensive models have a lot more features that you don't really need. You…

Welcome! Does the Curves you attend have weight classes? That is a great way to sculpt (change fat to muscle) and it really increases your metabolism. Muscle uses up more calories than fat. You don't have to lift heavy. Start light and increase if you can. Many people misunderstand weights and think they will just make you…

Hello all, I've never really joined an online group before or communicated with others through message boards, so here it is. My main reason for joining is to keep track of my food intake. I have a soft spot for sugary treats like candy, etc. so I'm trying to control my cravings by eliminating them cold turkey. I know that…
