  • These are great ideas. I agree with everyone - slooooow down. If you want to speed up, do it at the last couple minutes of the run. I'm slow because I have a really bad knee and I just can't go fast at all. But I'm not running for anyone else so slow is ok. Just go slow until you can do the run.

  • You won't be dead last at all! I did one at the end of my 3rd week, walked most of the thing, and was definitely NOT last. Good luck and have a blast!
  • It's fun to hear that times go down if you keep going. I'm looking forward to the first one where I can run the whole thing!
  • As I spent the last several weeks telling my son - the point is finishing. We did our first 5k today and I just finished week 3. We ran/walked in 47.52 and I was THRILLED! • I did my first 5K today with my husband. I was on W3D3 and he was on w2D2. We are both overweight. Overwhelmingly people were incredibly supportive and a complete stranger took a picture of us as we came across the finish line and emailed it to us because he had heard us saying it was both of our first 5Ks. Other runners…
  • Well done!
  • Sounds like tight groin muscles. I used to get them riding horses. I agree with the doing 5 minutes then stretching. You CAN do this. I'm doing this and I have no ACL and a torn Meniscus in my right knee. And I'm 40 lbs overweight.
  • I run on the Bay Trail which is an uninterrupted paved trail along the east shore of the San Francisco Bay. I also run at the local school track, which is more boring but less intimidating. I love the Bay Trail because of the scenery but I do find I don't look where I'm going because I'm looking at the view.
  • I'm on W2D2 today and my right calf is killing me! Going to a running store to get my stride checked tomorrow.
