  • First find a new gynae he is about as useful as a chocolate teapot (what I want to say will be *kittened* out) that is not the way to deal with a patient with a genuine concern. Then when it comes to the fatigue, hairloss, etc go to your general practitioner now to get that checked just to make sure there aren't any…
  • I think 12lb to a stone should be doable in 12 weeks even with thyroid problems a lb a week is perfectly reasonable you may want to set mfp up to lose 1.5lbs as a bit of a cushion, I find with my thyroid issues I have to be stricter to lose what I want to, a week. Just be careful with soy products the phytoestrogens in…
  • My hubby didn't like many vegetables when we first met, basically all he ate were potatoes, sweetcorn, peas and carrots he also didn't mind tomato based sauces. Everything else was a no no. I started getting him used to veg by hiding stuff in tomato flavour for example celery in pasta sauces or I used to make tomato and…
  • Last year I took a break from counting calories and basically maintained just spending a week or two counting when my weight was getting to close to the max weight I set myself. On the whole I can probably maintain without logging but losing without logging I find impossible but everyone is different. To be honest though I…
  • That is just a rounding error 2/141.2*100= 1.416 rounded up 1.42% :D
  • My husband can eat 3000 calories a day and lose weight, he has a very active job and naturally high metabolism but he has a completely different view of food than most so fortunately as far as he is concerned eating is an inconvenience only done when hungry. So it doesn't really bother me too much. The advantage too is…
  • I always cook, there are two of us I either make a smaller version of the recipe for example halve a recipe for 4 or if that is difficult cook the whole recipe, freeze half, have it on a day I want something quick. Pasta sauce I cook in batches big enough to feed 8, portion it into 4 and freeze, defrost when wanted and…
  • First keep going you're doing great. Now you have 2 weeks of food log have a look back, where can you improve? make one or two small improvements it could be as simple as some of the following: Use a food scale to measure what you are eating it will improve accuracy and is a bit of an eye opener (if you don't already) Be…
  • Start simple, put height, weight, age etc into mfp, select the amount of pounds you want to lose (upto 2lbs per week). Start logging what you eat, be honest, as accurate as you can and just eat what you normally eat either at lower quantities or same as usual (that will give you a real idea how much you are overeating).…
  • Special occasions will always be part of live, you don't want to spend your maintenance years not indulging in birthday treats so why would you when in the weightloss phase? As long as you stick to it being just one day you will be fine.
  • Wouldn't worry Ive been a 1000 calories over before and still lost, granted less than I should have lost that week but it's still a loss. I'm over by some sort of amount at least once every week, look at the weekly calorie average per day, (you can do that in the nutrition section just change from daily to weekly) if it…

  • I try not to, mainly because I have noticed that if I'm sticking to my calories during I get a bit of a weightloss whoosh after its finished. I still give in to cravings though and try to fit them in, sometimes I fail but that's life.
  • Depends how you look at it, all veggies or just the low cal ones? I mean avocado is a vegetable and a bit of a calorie bomb if you don't log that you could be going way over for the day, same weight of lettuce not as much of an issue. Btw I log everything but I haven't got much left to lose so I have to be pretty accurate.…
  • Just to say the calcium values are not always accurate in the food entries on mfp, not all packaging will list calcium even if the food does contain calcium. Iron values are the same. Other than that op if you don't eat any dairy I can't be off too much help, sorry, it's not really something I focus on (and I'm not…
  • 25g of quick oats (unsweetened), 150ml of skimmed milk 20g of sultanas for 3 min in my low watt microwave and it's perfect.
  • In short: cheap donuts, they just taste like oil to me, not worth it for the calories. Also shop bought cheese cake, way too high in calories compared to its taste.
  • There you go arbitrary rules someone else designed for others to follow, no thanks!

  • I do, they tend to smoke in their breaks as is expected. The reality is I'm not bothered by not eating for 7 hours straight this is where a good solid lunch comes into play. Typically I won't get hungry either until the end of the day, then I drive home for an hour and cook my dinner ergo 7 hours have passed. Off course…

  • How would you suggest someone that spends a good majority of the working day in a lab (or other place where you can't eat) to eat every three hours. I eat when I can take a break that works just fine for me and means there is a gap of 7 hours sometimes with no eating between lunch and dinner (shock horror! :o ). It hasn't…

  • I weigh less now than I did when I was 14 so is it doable? yes, but, I had more muscle then than I do now as I was swimming competitively 5-7 times a week so size wise I was smaller then than I am now. Must look at doing a recomp soon....
  • Gaining 2 lbs in fat over a week in context is blowing your calorie budget for the week by an extra 7000calories on top of maintenance calories which I'm guessing is highly unlikely by having a couple of blow out days in the week (did you log the blow outs?). The chances are it's water retention from eating more salt that…
  • It is as simple as calories in vs calories out but you are applying a mathematical principle against a biological system so as a trend you WILL see an overall loss most likely at the weekly goal you have set but be aware that things as simple as for example salt intake on any given day, the amount of waste retained in the…
  • ^^this is the downside of responding on my smartphone I can't see anyone's profile oops! :#
  • Re: the bolded, no it won't but it will give him the minimum nutrition a man needs to remain healthy and not damage his body. Unless he is medically supervised it is not advised for a man to go under 1500 cal a day. Also op 10lbs loss in a month is pretty good going I would be happy with that and take the slow week for…
  • I would say you will set you self up for disappointment if you expect to see a loss everyday it just won't happen. Weight can fluctuate daily it depends on what you've eaten the day before i.e. higher salt, if you are female time of the month, etc. I wouldn't say for example, I always see a loss on a Friday, it just…
  • Simplest answer: you weighed yourself after work with food in your belly. The food you have eaten is still digesting and is adding to your weight, jump on the scale in the morning and I would say there will be a bigger loss. Also the lowest recommended amount of calories for a man is 1500 I recommend you stick to that as a…
  • The simplest way to set a daily goal is to input height, weight and age etc into mfp and pick a goal to lose per week. I recommend you don't set it too aggressively as it will make it harder to stick to. For example if you only want to lose 10-20lbs set it to 0.25-0.5lbs loss per week. Eat that amount of calories and you…

  • I would say that weight watchers no longer worked for me after my thyroid had packed in, so it may be a little bit of trial and error to find what does work for you and I will second what others are saying, if you are 100% sure you logging is accurate and with that I mean accurately weighed and using correct entries (cross…
  • If you don't like salad then don't eat salad. Roasted veg, steamed veg, boiled veg raw veggies with hummus or stir fried veg there are plenty of ways to prepare them.
