I used to watch Dr. Oz. Two years ago, he had a weight loss for America, of which I took part - not to win the money, but to lose the weight. He said start out losing 10% of your body weight. So I set my sights on losing that. I was on the program a good 3 months and lost a total of: only 12 lbs. Somehow that figure…

Yep. And that is indeed a CRAZY way to live; a life of mental bondage! If over, exercise to burn it off. Turn the page and start again tomorrow. It really is as SIMPLE.AS. THAT!! Why did we never see this sooner??

Yep. I believe THIS ^^ ^^ ^^ is one of the best ways! You never have "cravings" when you don't restrict foods. You never have to tell yourself, "I can eat THAT when I reach "such and such" a weight," or turn down offers to go out to dinner. I would add along with this to EXERCISE. What ever you can do, as little as you can…

ABSOLUTELY!! I tried WW a year or so ago, and though many have had success, I found it very difficult. I didn't join the program, just counted the points every day - for EVERY meal. I stumbled on this back in May,and have never looked back. It is SO easy! I have been here over 145 days straight, and I can tell you, this is…

You're right. This horse died a long time ago.

ADDED sugar as in ARTIFICIAL sweeteners. What I was thinking but did not explain clearly is ADDING artificial sweeteners, is not the same as something that is naturally sweetened, like for example Honeydew, or Watermelon...
-
Fruit sugar vs ADDED sugar. Fruit sugar is natural, added sugar contains chemicals. Like I said, I knew posting that would be debatable! Just out of curiosity.. if I was allowed 24 grams of sugar per day.. how would you work that out without going over?? Remember, fruits and veggies are GOOD for our bodies... I am curious…

From my experience in a previous adventure (lol), I was told if I did 60minutes of cardio per day, 5 days a week =300 minutes per week... I would lose 2 lbs per week. And I tried and found that was pretty accurate. But let's see what ndj has to say. I'm not entirely certain myself what a calorie deficit is, I thought MFP…

Oh right! And that sugar, OMGosh! When I first started here a few months ago, I realized there is sugar in EVERYTHING. Same as salt. It seemed IMPOSSIBLE to stay within the guidelines for my sugar. I know we need to eat fruits and veggies but they were putting me way over! Then I read *and i KNOW this is debatable** that…

Relax. It was only a few days ago when "I" was stressing over the same issue! I read the ONLY important macros (macronutrients, IE: calories, carbs, fats, proteins sugar and sodium).. the ONLY ones that are important are CALORIES first and foremost. THEN: proteins, fats and carbs. In that order. Like the poster above said,…

OH! Ok.. thanks :flowerforyou:

I have a different question, I think... I started out with a basic MFP pre-made ticker. I have currently lost 30 pounds. I decided I would like to personalize it. However, when I add the picture to personalize it, it says I have only lost 10 pounds. How do I change that to reflect a loss of 30? Everything is set right…

Thanks for starting this thread! This is just what I needed to hear! I was starting to become a perfectionist about matching my macros. Now I know I can just go back to what I did to get this far. Thanks!!!!

Thanks for the advice, and inspiration! HUGE congratulations on your weight loss!!

I was a skinny kid growing up, and as an adult I was always "average." Never wore anything larger than a medium. In the early 2000's, I gained quite a bit of weight, but in 5 months time, I took it off. I lost 72lbs, and yes it was a "fad diet" and one I will never go back to again :noway: :noway: Not Atkins, something…

Just don't. That is incorrect data. Would love to know where it came from. I have been here since May 30, and only recently set my carbs to 122. Since that time I have lost over 30lbs. I estimated that I have lost between 6 & 7 pounds per month. Pretty good though I know I am just starting out and it will decline... just…

what is the difference between setting your carb limit at say 122, calories and 1220 and eating what you want... then exercising it all off?? I have been doing this for the past 4+ months and have lost 30,4oz. It appears to work for me. Yes, avoid the foods you KNOW are not good: greasy foods, high carb foods, etc etc..…

Lol true!!

Ha Ha! That;s funny!!    I am wondering if that is something MFP tells us to keep us motivated? Just a thought...

My mom used to make tomato soup (I believe that's one of the cheapest) and add baked potato quarters to it. The soup not only is filling with the potatoes in it, but is rather tasty. I have tried it myself and I can vouch for it! Good way to stretch the soup! For breakfast, one box of cereal. Eat whatever the serving size…

That's a good question, I'll be interested to see what responses you get. Not long ago, I read someplace* on the message boards, that someone had posted the exact question you asked. She had asked her doctor, and her doctor's advice was: 30% Carbohydrates, 40% Protein, and 30% Fats. These are the numbers that I am using…
