What can I expect to gain health-wise? If you don't have knee issues, then you gain increased aerobic capacity, great legs, and lowered blood pressure (because your heart is working more efficiently). Your increased aerobic capacity will help you with other activities including workouts and every day stuff. At what point…

Fun topic! I'm enjoying reading everyone else's responses. I mix 80's, 90's, and newer music: She Sells Sanctuary: The Cult Baby Got Back (because I always will): Sir Mix a Lot We Got the Beat: Go Gos Blurred Lines: Pharrell Williams Get Lucky: Daft Punk Higher Ground: Red Hot Chili Peppers version Shake It: Metro Station…

Hate to tell you this, but even after losing 50 pounds and now being at goal, I still get sore....but it takes a lot longer! I don't bike more than a day in a row. I belong to a gym, so I do other cardio like the elliptical machine. Now that it's summer, I walk and run too. Investing in padded bike shorts has helped me…

Both Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper have strength training DVDs.

There's no one thing you can do or avoid doing if you want to lose weight. Everything works together, including what you eat and how you move. Eating "clean" (unprocessed. preferably organic food) is a good idea regardless of where you are weight-wise. Portion control is crucial no matter what you eat. There really is such…

I lost weight on a cruise last winter. Here's how: 1. I was mindful and deliberate in my choices. I indulged only in what was extremely special and tasty and what I would not eat at home. This was usually at dinner, although I did introduce my 16 year old son to scones one afternoon. I didn't see him much during the day…

It must be incredibly frustrating to dislike so many foods. It's along the lines of having food allergies; you have to figure out what you can eat by trial and error. Have you done any research into why you might have this sensitivity and if there are any food groups/types/base flavors that work for others? I agree with…

Marie, I don't have a favorite brand. I did just pick up a patriotic shirt at Kohls, and my ex bought me a women's T at the NHL finals the other night.

I would try first swapping your processed sugary items for more natural ones, like fruit, and sweeter veggies like carrots and jicama. You might also want to integrate protein like peanut butter. I also like nonfat plain greek yogurt with low-sugar jam mixed in. Then you can gradually swap the sweet stuff for more savory.…

First, good for you to focus on your good health! Second, I agree with many of other posters, especially the one that commented on how the media messes with our minds on the issue of weight and body size. While it is sweet of your parents to be concerned, in the end it's your life and your body to do what you think is…

I agree with the previous posters that a specific "detox" or "cleanse" is not necessary. On the other hand, avoiding or going without unhealthy foods/drinks is not such a bad idea. Elimination diets are sometimes needed to weed out allergies or food intolerance such as wheat/gluten. Just because someone is a "trainer"…

These are all good suggestions. I also recommend setting a goal, such as completing a 5K within X minutes or just completing a 10K (longer distance).

I have a 100% whole wheat english muffin with an egg and a wedge of laughing cow cheese, a half cup of fruit, milk/soy milk, and coffee. For me, it provides just enough of everything that I need: protein, carbs, sugar, caffeine, taste, and texture. Calling a food/food group "bad" without any other explanation is…

I'm 5'2" and 47 years old. My WW goal range is 118 - 137. I hit 135 in January and was maintaining it but then packed on 7 pounds of stress eating. I have always had a "feminine" figure with full chest, hips, and rear. I think I will be comfortable between 130 - 135.
