Hi and welcome! I know that you understand this, but I'm going to remind you that you can't judge anything by one week - it's not enough time! Also, with your calories all over the place your body does not know what to expect from you right now. Consistency is key. You need to stick with something for a good month before…

Welcome! I'm glad you found us. You'll be amazed at some of the differences you'll feel in your body when you start eating more. In addition to this group there's also the website - www.eatmore2weighless.com - which has a ton of information, especially for those new to the EM2WL philosophy. Good luck on your journey!

I think it can happen. If a person were losing 3 pounds every week then I'd say let's tweak numbers because that's a bit fast, but given that you had no loss last week, that really averages to 1.5 pounds a week which isn't that fast. And remember that scale can fluctuate for a variety of reasons. Could it be that you were…

I agree with hollysings. If you're exercise is inconsistent it might be best to go with lightly active as a baseline and then add in your extra calories when you get your workouts in. Just make sure that you don't forget to add them in though or you'll end up undereating.

Lucia - Thank you. It's been rough and a definite hump in my journey. But I'm trying so hard just to stay with it even if I'm not exactly progressing. I don't know if that makes any sense, but it makes sense to me! Wfte - Great progress! Down a pound and 1/2 inch in the waist - very awesome! Cazsyl - I find the same thing…

Sounds moderate to me!
-
You should be netting at least your BMR on workout days, more on non workout days. If you want to give your age I can run stats for you. You are definitely undereating for your activity level.

It sounds like so many are doing amazing. Congrats all around on great progress! AFM - Well, I'm not yet in that boat, but it's to be expected for me right now. I had an appt. with my dr. on Monday. My thyroid levels are not what they should be. Despite several raises in meds in the last year and a half, my body doesn't…

If you are close to goal, then sticking with a 10% cut is recommended. Some people even do a 5% cut. Definitely start with a smaller cut. It gives you wiggle room to increase a bit if you need to.
-
Also, I wanted to clarify that I would never start with a 20% cut. When you go to cut it's better to start with 15%, better yet 10% and then move to 15% cut if fat loss stalls, then possibly 20% being max. If you stall at max cut, then it's time for a diet break.

Thanks for sharing! Well done!

I agree with charliecat. That sounds like a reasonable way to handle your numbers with exercise being hit or miss. Other than staying above BMR, I'd keep an eye on your calorie defecit also and make sure you're averaging somewhere around 15% of your TDEE depending on how much you have to lose. You can go up to 20% if you…
-
If you want to find your true TDEE I'd suggest staying at the 2500 that is working for you for at least a few more weeks to be sure. Two weeks is not enough time to really know if this is true maintenance. But if you go a full four weeks and maintain at that number, then I'd say you've found your maintenance number. Good…

Awesome update! Thank you for sharing. And your words are so wise. It's not about eating whatever we want (reminder to self), but about having a healthy relationship with food. I'm so glad you were determined to stick with it. Well done!

cazsyl - I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. ((HUGS)) Hang in there. Raynn - You are awesome. I'm so proud of you! I ran my half marathon yesterday. Me. A half marathon. I would've never thought it possible. I couldn't run a mile at the beginning of this year! It was rough! But I did it. I crossed that finish line. I'm…

What was your calorie intake during your reset? How long did you do your reset? What is your history prior to doing a reset?
-
Well, here's what I'm thinking. I DON'T think you're eating too much. Circuit training/ boot camp is very intense. I think you should go to the moderate activity level which would put you at TDEE - 2371 and 15% CUT - 2015. Try the new cut level for a month and see what happens with your body.
-
Rosie - Sounds like you had a great time. The Bailey's coffees sound awesome! Cazsyl - When I first went to cut from reset it definitely took me a week or two to get all the way to 10% consistently. The more time passed the closer I got to 15%. I think that's the way it happened for a lot of us. It's hard to go all the way…

I double checked your numbers. Based on workout length I used lightly active. However, if these workouts are high intensity it's possible that you'd fall in moderately active instead of lightly active. Another thought that I had is you said you eat the same amount on workout days. Are you netting at least your BMR on…

Dr.'s office called. I will be getting a thyroid med increase. Woot! I'm not usually excited about medication, but it's a different story when it comes to my thyroid. After having a period of feeling normal for several months, I was able to recognize the signs that my thyroid function was plummeting. I'm just happy to know…

Checking in. Had a bit of scale loss this last week. Of course I'm up a bit now due to not tracking the past few days - pretty sure I overindulged on pizza Friday. In my defense it was this homemade masterpiece that I found a recipe for and I enjoyed every delicious bite! But...time to get back on top of things here. My…

On days that you exercise your net value does not have to be at cut. You will eat your cut value, but your net will be less because of the calories subtracted from exercise. You do need to look at your net and ensure that you're above BMR by the end of the day on workout days. Does that answer your question?

For exclusive breastfeeding such as with a 10 week old, go with 500 extra calories. I wouldn't drop down to 300 extra calories until baby is doing solids well. Also, just in case you're unaware, if you search for breastfeeding when you do your food diary you can add in your calories. It will give you -500 calories. I like…

Awesome progress! Losing inches around the waist is sooo much better than a scale loss! Great job!
-
Thank you for sharing your story! Your persistence and determination are amazing!
-
Sounds like you are making great progress Ellie! Woot!
-
Awesome! Yay - we need more posts like this. I know there are a lot of us who are having success - just not many of us posting about it! It is such a lightbulb moment when you increase your cals and are able to lose weight!
-
NSV - Well, I had posted a couple of weeks ago that I was able to fit into jeans that were a size down and without a "W" at the end of the size, but I wasn't sure if it was to stay. I figured that brand ran big or something. Well, this past weekend I decided to try on some clothes at Target. I fit into everything I tried…

Very nice progress!
