Totally agree that it depends on the instructor - my first zumba class i tried i took at a gym and the instructor did hip hop music and hip hop moves and called it zumba? i don't think so. I have Zumba for Kinect which is great - and i love the toning DVD.

If you go to Zumba.com, you can look up your city and find a class by you. I have Kinect and the DVD's and take the class. I'm a total Zumbie!!!

oy only a .2 weight loss this week. i chalk it up to TOM and lack of energy to get the extra workouts in. sigh... TEAM AAA PW: 253.2 CW: 253.0 % weight loss: 0.13% but a loss is a loss, right? Overall Team Weight Loss % for AAA: 0.95%

So long as you do it sugar free syrup and nonfat milk - the caloric count will be just like the Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte. (I like the coconut flavoring but most places don't have it sugar free). You can put anything over ice or have them blend it.

The classes are way more motivating than doing it at home - plus it's all about making sure you have fun. If your instructor is good, she will tell you just to have fun, and you'll pick it up eventually. We have people in our classes who are still trying to figure out the steps but they always finish the class smiling…

Mine (which I've heard nothing but good things about) is the Polar FT4 - the chest straps always take a little getting used to and watching your calorie burn is a bit addictive. :D

Okay - did Zumba Fitness class plus the Zumbathon for 360 minutes of Zumba, burning approximately 3000 calories. This week I have class Tues, Thurs and Saturday - but figure I will do the 20 minute Zumba express tonight or the 45 minute toning depending on how long it takes me to get home from work. :D
