  • MFP is a great tool and it works. Just do your exercise and the eat the number of calories that MFP tells you to (to get to a net zero at the end of the day) and you will lose weight. Be patient and just keep going. This isn't going to happen overnight but it will happen. IT WORKS!! I am 80% to my goal weight. Don't waste…
  • Oh I have so many! Here are 2 If you want something you never had before, you've got to do something you have never done before Life starts at the end of your comfort zone
  • Congratulations!! And the good news is you've done the hard part! The first couple of miles are the hardest... miles 4, 5 and beyond will come more easily!!
  • Yes, you retain water and your weight will likely go up, some people up to 5lbs. It may be best to just not look at the scale this week! Drink lots of water and keep exercising!
  • It's funny that when you were eating junk on a regular basis it didn't bother your stomach but now that you are eating better having junk really upsets your stomach. I used to eat fast food pretty regularly and it never bothered my stomach, now if I have it once and I feel sick all day!
  • Great message! Anytime that I'm injured and am not able to run I get very frustrated thinking of all of the people with healthy bodies who aren't using them!!
  • That's awesome! Congratulations!
  • I'm with ya! I totally daydream... it's hilarious the stuff I come up with too... but it makes me run so I don't care... it's just between me and my head anyway! I too visualize myself wearing a sports bra and shorts to run (something I've never done). I love running because I could have the worst day and I go out and run…
  • No you're not alone!! I have lost a couple of toenails, although none in the past few years. Yeah, it could be your shoes are too small, or the toebox isn't big enough... or you could just be unlucky! Likely the shoe size though.
  • If you are 5'4" you are not 25 lbs overweight at 150... according to BMI the top end of the healthy weight is 145. Your goal weight is entirely up to you. If you are comfortable at 150 then stay at 150. It's really hard to know until you get there. I am also 5'4" and my current goal weight is 145 and my plan is once I get…
  • There are alot of different types of workouts, try different things and see what works for you. Classes are often good -- more fun, time goes by faster. Once you find something you like you actually look forward to it!
  • PLANNING!! I make a meal plan for the week, make a grocery list from this plan and eat what's on the plan. If I hadn't done this I would not have been successful. I like to exercise so this isn't an issue for me, but I guess you could do the same thing for your workouts, plan when you're going to go and what you're going…
  • Buy in bulk - I buy club packs of things like chicken breasts and freeze in portion sizes. For produce look to see if there is a farmer's market in your area.
  • If you only have 10lbs to lose then eating 1200 calories probably isn't enough. You need to eat to lose. Set your weight loss goal at 0.5 lbs / week and you will get more calories and probably be more sucessful. And eat back your exercise calories!
  • You will likely gain muscle but it won't be bulky. 1lb of muscle is much smaller than 1lb of fat. In addition muscle burns fat so the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn.
  • My face!! I have a round face and so it makes me look bigger (I think)... anyway I've lost 14lbs and now my face is thin... with no double chin!! So exciting. Sometimes I pass a mirror and see myself and I love it!!
  • Do you do cardio and really sweat?? I run and do the stationary bike (vigorous) and I found that's how I lost inches.
  • There are alot of things that you can do with NO equipment!! Make a workout for yourself including -- pushups, planks, lunges, squats, leg lifts, calf raises, tricep dips... and many more. You can also get inexpensive equipment and have more variety -- resistance bands, hand weights, kettlebells. You don't need to go to…
  • When it starts working (and it will!) you will love it even more!! Welcome!
  • Me too!
  • It is hard at the beginning but it gets easier and yes, IT WORKS!! It's way too easy to go over by hundreds of calories a day. I do hate it when I am out -- friend's house for dinner, restaurants without nutritional information and trying to figure it out.
  • I wear a cotton thong. I've been running for 15 years and never had a problem!
  • I think it's normal to feel overwhelmed. You've done a great job so far. Try to just work at it day to day and appreciate the accomplishments that you make! Keep up the good work!
  • What do you have your weight loss set at? It looks like 2lbs per week? You are not overweight so you should probably set it at 0.5lbs per week -- you are likely not eating enough. If you look through older posts you will see MANY talking about number of calories you should eat. The closer you are to your goal weight the…
  • Yes, try eating "clean" foods - unprocessed. Chicken, eggs, vegetables, fruit, beans... It's really not difficult once you start to eat healthy foods. Use spices for flavouring. It's great that you want to get away from "diet" food because it is crap! It's processed and full of "stuff". For the most part I eat unprocessed…
  • Your weight fluctuates throughout the day. If you weigh yourself multiple times in a row and it is up and down then I'd say get a new scale but if it's at different times in the day than that's normal. Just weigh yourself once a day when you first get up before eating. Weighing yourself during the day you're usuallly going…
  • That's awesome!! Congratulations... that's quite an accomplishment!
  • Very exciting!! Keep it up!
  • For the first 15 weeks I weighed myself once a week and it was great. For some reason in the past 4 weeks I started weighing myself everyday... and I can't stop!!! I would recommend once a week!
  • I did this a couple of weeks ago -- I was quite bloated (too much sodium) for a couple of days. I drank LOTS of water for the next couple of days, did lots of cardio. It took me 2 weeks for my weight to get back where it was! Don't beat yourself up about it, just get back to eating healthy and working out. And don't forget…
