  • It can be beneficial for your body to intermittently fast. How long are you looking to fast?
  • YES I agree. I always say P90 is to weights what Insanity is to cardio.
  • I think we should stop obsessing about what weighs more than what and simply aim to have less fat and more muscle IN GENERAL. People get so caught up in the fine print... how do you feel, how do you look? Are you strong? Etc. The minute I stopped obsessing about that stuff and focused on being healthier and stronger in…
  • I LOVE my Vibram, otherwise known as "finger shoes". They are awesome. I have improved my speed, stride, even the muscles in my calves etc. I find that regular running shoes are actually uncomfortable now because they provide too much support.
  • I think you should listen to your body, it knows what it wants! Often times we deprive it so much that it stops doing what we want it to do. If you're hungry, eat. If you're hungry for something bad, reconsider or perhaps earn it. In general, I just analyze why I'm hungry and then go from there. Sometimes it's just…
  • First off, good luck on your fitness goals! An exciting journey to begin =) Try a workout called Insanity, it's high intensity cardio (however you can use your best judgement to modify). I see results pretty much INSTANTLY haha. As for the goal to tone specific body parts, you'll find that with a workout like this it…
  • I absolutely love it. I feel amazing and see it as a challenge to keep pushing myself and slowly doing poses I never thought I could do!!!
  • I agree! To me fast food tastes like a big bunch of chemicals, so when I "splurge" I usually make something delicious from home that's ten times more satisfying!!
  • I agree bees, though I am not diabetic I follow a lower carb diet and have seen results both with loss and maintenance. Scientifically your body pulls energy from fat instead of glucose which is why it works, but more than that I prefer not to overload on carbs throughout the week. They make me feel slugglish and tired.…
  • I keep my sugar in check by avoiding it! Well, I still enjoy fruits because they are a more natural sugar, but I don't eat foods with more than a couple grams of sugar, and definitely don't consume anything with artificial sweeteners because those are simply bad for you. My diet is very clean but I like it this way, I have…
  • Maybe it's your birth control? Conventional hormonal birth control can cause the body to retain water, and because it's essentially tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant, can tend to store fat easier. I know your issue stems not from inability to lose but just that I would mention. I am off hormonal BC and have…
  • I have done Weight Watchers, I am not a fan only because they don't tell you why you're doing what you're doing, by that I mean where's the education behind the foods being consumed? I believe that because people are basically not challenged to keep a truly "clean" diet, they often go back to eating the larger portions of…
  • Oh that's good, sounds way better than chemicals that cause cancer... it's a start, and the more we demand better quality products the more of them we will get at a decent price :-) As of today I think Stevia is the only sweetener that doesn't have a glycemic index.
  • I get it in capsule form for like 5 bucks at my local vitamin store.
  • I completely agree with this. A calorie is a calorie. Obviously you want to choose foods that are good for you (no high fructose, etc) but I've never cut down on any one food group and have managed to lose 40 pounds and keep it off.
  • I have a Tanita. In my opinion they are the leading brand to go with. This is by FAR the most accurate scale I've had and I've had a lot.
  • I am going to look into the GPX as well as the lemon... thank you for the ideas! Also, for those that do the cayenne - how much should I take to really feel the appetite suppressing benefit? Each capsule I have is 450mg??
  • I had the same question and was told that in general strength training does not burn a TON of calories, especially if you're not doing cardio circuits in between, however will help you to continue burning throughout the day which is a major plus. So I like to think of cardio as an instant calorie burn and weights more…
  • Here's my current playlist: Something Bigger, Something Better - Amanda Blank Imma Be - Black Eyed Peas Spotlight - Gucci Mane feat Usher Telephone - Lady Gaga feat Beyonce Evacuate the Dance Floor - Cascada On The Dance Floor - David Guetta feat Will I.AM. Take Me On The Floor- The Veronicas Map of the Problematique -…
  • I just wanted to add that if your goal is to lose then I would gauge how you feel: do you feel sluggish or weak? This may be a sign you're not getting enough calories. Depending on your level of activity, even when you're in lose mode you need to get an adequate amount of calories. I would set a calorie burn goal for the…
  • Maintenance, unlike loss, is eating not only what's required just to run your body's essential systems but also to consume what you burn. That said, if you are burning tons of calories through dance but not getting enough food to replenish you will still lose. If this is not your goal then I would recommended upping your…
  • I have old fashioned oatmeal with a tbsp of smart balance light butter, tbsp sugar free vanilla creamer and 2-3 splendas. Yummy! For protein I'll pair it with 3 pieces of canadian bacon which adds only 60 calories into the mix. Some good coffee tops it all off.
  • I just posted an article on my blog that talks about this EXACT thing. It will totally clear up why you weigh more or less at different times. My settings are on 'friends only' but just add me and go check it out! Made me feel soo much better after reading it haha
  • I use a Polar F4. Like the member above I don't know what I'd do without it! It gives me an accurate reading of calories burned and helps me stay motivated. I think anyone trying to lose or maintain their weight should make a heart rate monitor with calories burned capability a non-negotiable.
  • Per my doctor I am not allowed to take anything with a stimulant so I started taking something called 'Super Citrimax Clinical Strength' recently. I've heard great things about this. Supposedly it helps block the storage of fat and helps as a mild appetite suppresant. I'm thinking about writing about my experience with it…
