intake vs output?

Hi guys.... I had a question. I teach an hour of dance aerobics every day except for Mondays, where I teach for 2 1/2 hours and Saturdays, when I teach for an hour and a half. I typically consume 1400 calories a day, which ends up being a lot of food for me, as most of my meals are low fat, high veggie content. On the days where I work out more, should I be consuming more, even though I'm not typically any more hungry? i just don't want to sabotage my metabolism, which is finally coming out of hiding from being fed a diet of 1000 calories a day for umpteen years. Thanks for any input!

Maintenance, unlike loss, is eating not only what's required just to run your body's essential systems but also to consume what you burn. That said, if you are burning tons of calories through dance but not getting enough food to replenish you will still lose. If this is not your goal then I would recommended upping your daily calories according to how many you will be burning for the week teaching dance. Hope this helps.0

I just wanted to add that if your goal is to lose then I would gauge how you feel: do you feel sluggish or weak? This may be a sign you're not getting enough calories. Depending on your level of activity, even when you're in lose mode you need to get an adequate amount of calories. I would set a calorie burn goal for the week based on how much you want to lose each week while staying within your daily calorie limits for food so long as you feel okay. This will be fool proof as it is simple science.0
