Nay. It was really popular at our church for a while and some people lost a lot of weight very quickly. It was quite expensive and people were losing a lot of muscle mass, so they were looking a little sickly. No one stuck with it long term and when they started to eat regular food, they gained the weight back and more,…

Just looked her up. Yep, you look like her:)

You look great! I've started a progressive body weight program (You Are Your Own Gym) and am already losing way more inches than pounds. Love strength training.

Oh man, I don't usually have bad allergies in February. I had to pull out the tissues. Your story completely resonated with me. You started at 183 and I at 187. Your goal is high 140's (i.e. 150ish) and mine is 148. I too started at 1200 my first time here and failed, overeating on certain days to make up for the too large…

What a transformation! It is obvious you have worked very hard to meet your goal! You look amazing!
-
You've made a great transformation!! I know you will make it to your next 40 pound goal!

Sounds like you need to do some strength training (even body weight stuff would strengthen your core), make sure you're getting enough protein and maybe readjust what you consider overweight. Out of sheer curiosity, I'd like to see pictures of you pudgy 109 pounders:) If you're looking for a nice, flat stomach:…

Wow!! You're right, two completely different person. Awesome job.
-
Your false starts were worth it to get to the truth of what works for you! Job well done and you look great!

Oh yeah I had one of those comments before. A few years ago after having my fourth child in five years, a guy friend from church was talking about a "hot" girl and how she looked like me, well me "before the babies." Wonk, wonk.
-
Me too! It helps me get my steps in!

I've lost several inches around my waist.

I've been doing the DVD so it's only 3 days a week. I did start off with the book which is a four day program and may go back to that at some point.
-
Wow, a pant size a month! Yes, you can tell you are definitely near the end of the weight loss portion of your journey. You look so young and cute as a button!
-
Yes, you are definitely making progress! Great job. Keep it up!

Good point. I eat what makes me feel good physically and mentally. Most of the time, to feel good physically, I need whole foods, including whole grains. Sometimes mentally to feel good I need things that aren't considered intrinsically healthy, like chips/sweets, including the full-fat, full-sugar versions, though I am…

Apparently a new person who came here and wanted their first post to be about Paleo bumped this to share their terrific blood work. To be accurate, the study did say these were otherwise healthy people whose blood levels worsened, but the person who bumped this said they had very poor blood results before starting this…

It sounds like you've already made up your mind to use it as a meal replacement, instead of a way to increase protein for a lifting program, etc. We look forward to your update, and whatever you, if you stay in a moderate deficit (20% below your TDEE) and log accurately, you will lose weight.
-
It would be best not to lose the weight relying heavily on protein shakes, unless you want to replace meals with protein shakes for the rest of your life. Eat in a way that's sustainable and for most of us that includes actually eating the food and not just drinking it.
-
Okay, then you would eat 2316 - 20% (1852) plus 300-600 of your 600 exercise calories. It seems like that would have you at 2152-2452 at most, a full 1000 calories below P90x recommendation. I wonder if that is based on "bulking"? I have no idea why the calories would be so high.
-
Does the 2316 TDEE include the P90X workouts? What about you set your activity level to sedentary, get your TDEE based on that and then eat back a half or so of the P90X burn calories. You may want a Heart Rate monitor to make sure you're actually burning 600 calories during the workout.

Can you post some of things you are able to cook even with an hour commute each way? I'm very fortunate that DH cooks regularly during the week after work, but quick ideas are always helpful!
-
Wow, how short are you that 112 pounds is overweight? I didn't realize that could be overweight for any height and frame.
-
She said she was 67, but looked 47. You can't trust people like that;)
-
Keep up the great work! Can you share your specifics. How many calories a day are you eating? Are you exercising? Do you eat back those calories? Thanks!

That's a tough one. I've been gaining about a pound a year since my 20's, and then had a big increase when I changed medications a few years ago. SO, I think I'd weigh about 160 at 40 5'7" and gain 1-2 pounds a year. However, once I started a medication that upped my appetite at night I started eating like a crazy person…

Maybe using metrics will help them understand why you are doing what you are doing. For instance, getting away from weight- what is your waist measurement? If it's higher than 1/2 your height, than you are at increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, etc. Or if your waist to hip ratio is above .8, you're also at increased…
