  • Great quote - I read the following on another thread: Gaining Weight is Hard, Losing Weight is Hard. Pick your Hard.
  • I just love this idea and never thought of it before. There are endless combinations. My kids will love it too.
  • Ya - it is one day, unfortunately dang fall is full of many 1 days...thanksgiving, halloween, christmas parties, christmas eve, christmas day, boxing day, the day after boxing day, new years eve.....lol
  • I'm cooking too - there is a small group of us (6) so I am just doing a turkey breast. I am going to do some "healthified" sides working out cals so I know for hte leftovers and watch portion control. I am also looking for a lighter desert too.
  • This is going to seem like really strange advice, but here it goes. Take any money that you have planned for surgery and if you can afford it, book a HOT HOLIDAY - I suggest mexico or the carriebean (Jamaica is my fave - hence the profile pic). I like the all inclusive thing to. Then get yourself 3 bikinis and 1 tankini…
  • Hockey = Me time?
  • Thanks - Just the way the code emails are going I thought that maybe Elvis was found alive and was going to have one concert and there was a limited number of "codes" to get concert tickets. Do they have "special" snacks you can't get anywhere else? I guess I will just continue visiting my local costco/walmart/bulk barn…
  • LOL - Those restaurants that quote their nutritional content. Perhaps when their fancy chef did the prototype it was correct (I am thinking the "family" chains). But they sure seem way more cals then they are posting. I am trying to be super good and limit my cheat meals. I am going so well - ya I kinda feel like a DIVA. I…
  • Yup - I am hosting a small group - my family of f4 and my folks. So I will control what goes into everything - you know all the extras (like butter and whipping cream in the mashed potatoes). I will be having a big plate, but I am going to make a HUGE garden salad and that will make up half of it. I will chew gum while…
  • LMAO - I was never called weak or thought of myself as weak - nor are my kids. But we didn't worry about muscle then. Getting out and kids running and playing and working up a sweat. Thats where the focus was. I will be sure to tell my 5 year old tonight, sweetie you need to care about your health so you can do a chin up.
  • I suppose I do cater to my child's "healthy" tastes ... but I have made it my goal from the moment I decided to be a mom to make sure I provide my children nutricious food so they grow up healthy. They are allowed treats - but they know the difference between treats and healthy wholesome food too. And, when they try to say…
  • I don't serve my kids foods they hate and I put about 1/4 of what I am eating on my daughters plate. So I am far from force feeding.
  • Yup - infact my husband and I just took an extracurricular activity one night away from our almost 6 year old. Why, becasue I said if you don't eat supper, you won't go (and she has been doing this for weeks now). I try to serve my kids food they like - but she was trying to "be the boss". So, as she cried we told her she…
  • In our grade k-8 school (and many schools in my province) we are told at the beginning of the school year that crap food isn't allowed as snacks or in lunches and we are given examples of the "no nos" - no pop, gummie snacks, chocolate, chips, candy, etc. They even call out certain "lunch snacks" that aren't allowed. We…
  • Hey - I had uses the recipe feature and then I discovered the "save meal" feature. I actually prefer that feature because it adds each item in separately so if you have substitutions you can easily add or subtract items in your daily log. I have been saving my popular meals more and more and like it way better.
  • Honestly, Victoria's Secret has some of the best bikini's out there for modesty (online anyhow) and you can mix and match tops and bottoms to suit your fit. I have great boy bottoms from there and also a fuller coverage bikini (think a bit more retro 50s style). When we vacay at an all inclusive for the week I have 3…
  • Blend up some mixed fuit or strawberries (we always have frozen in the house for smoothies). Add a bit of honey, brown sugar, ripened banana or artificial sweetener. You could even mix that with some yogurt for a thicker topping.
  • What the H... happened to dodge ball and floor hockey and TAG! And why on earth are we measuring our kids on their ability to do a chin up, by how fast they run or if they can do push ups and sit ups? This absolutely urks me. When I was a kid there was no testing. We went to gym class and ran our *kitten* off. We had to…
  • I hope I can last till she cracks...what do you mean by this. If she doesn't jump on the skinny train it might not work? By the way, 9 year olds can be incredibly stressful. Hormones are starting, they become less fun..and you foster kids. I am starting to see the stress she could be under.
  • That is not what couples counselling is at all about. It is about being able to see each other through a different lens. And help get through a difficult time. If you truly want to work on this than work on this. Don't make this only about you and your weight loss. No matter what advice you get here Mfp will not save a…
  • Holy crow. Are you for hire as the craving angel voice on my shoulder!
  • I have been married 4 16 yeas this friday and this is not something I would be saying on a public forum...it won't help and for sure your wife will know u are on Mfp. I would be seeking couples counselling.
  • This I go in the am before work, hubby goes after work or after supper and we go together on weekends. My husband was my biggest cheerleader when I lost 120 pounds. Not because he thought I needed to lose weight, but because he was proud of my accomplishments. I have been thinking since I read ur post how I would have felt…
  • I HATE HALLOWEEN. I can get rid of all the junk that I buy to hand out, but then I get three times as much walking back in the door from my kids. I actually thought of offering them each $100 to not go trick or treating this year. LOL. I can handle the potluck parties now, I make sure to bring something that I can…
  • It just seems that everytime someone wants a tip on how to change up a recipe, your response is "why change it; fit it in your macros" - I got my back up with your use of the word "bastardize" - it felt very condecending to me. Many people here are just looking for some recipe tweaks - they need to change their…
  • Seriously! Bastardize it. Why everytime someone asks a simple question about changing up a recipe do you insist on smart *kitten* and rude comments. It's ok to do things differently. To the OP - I do fantastically delicous "pizzas" on wraps with lots of veggies and mushrooms. In terms of the cheese if I choose to do…
  • I would add a garmin to my present to me :)
  • Hey - I would treat myself to a pair of shoes properly fitted for your feet. Not sure where you live, but I get fitted at the running room for my shoes. Not all shoes are fit all feet. Enjoy!
  • Yum - I will have to try this. And, BRUSSEL SPROUTS. I like brussel sprouts. Gonna have to get me some of those.
