I just trained for and completed my first full marathon. The absolute best refuel I would have after long runs was chocolate milk and watermelon.

YUM - wow MFP has made me love all the fall inspired healthy recipes. Thanks for sharing!

THANK YOU !!!! These are so great! I am going to look at them every sunday mornign before I go out :) Speed training tonight. Actually looking forward to that. Cheers!

You know I am kinda mad at myself - I told myself maybe I could download a spanish language app and start learning spanish - and I never did :) Maybe I will download mockingjay.

Pain is Temporary - Pride is forever. That resonated with me. Better than my chanting in my head "I think I can, I think I can" :) I do envision the finish line at times, so I will keep doing that as well. Good tip about the music - I listen the full run, but perhaps I will only use it when I need it. Thanks for the tips…

I do train with a group - I think the beginning of my brain plaiying tricks on me was on my 34 km run - I had been a bit ill a few days prior, so I dont think I was as hydrated as I should have been pre run. So, in my training group there are 4 groups that end up pacing together - I was having to stop to refill my fuel…

You took the words right out of my mouth. UA is designed so much better for any workout (other than yoga). I went to lulu and picked up a pair of compression shorts for my marathon training - hate them, I will only use them now on cross training days. The seams cause chafing, there is no moisture wicking (and these were…

I have gotten onto Rice noodles becasue they are about the same cals as a serving of pasta - but you seem to get more. The EVOO drizzle really makes it taste rich and sinful :)

I thought of doubling up on days - morning weights at the gym and then an evening run or vice versa. I really hate to give up my monday rest day as I am really noticing that my body needs that day of rest after the long run on sunday. My biggest goal is not to get runner's fatigue. The most I like to do on a Monday is…

Thanks for this - it sounds like a perfect pre run snack for me. Exactly what my stomach can handle before my morning runs. And, 123 cals for a snack. Perfect!
-
Absolutely. That would be just over a pound a week.

This may sound silly but I mouth the words of the song I am listening to when I feel I am going too fast - if I cant mouth the words I slow down a bit. I also have a garmin and pay attention to my pace and keep it in a certain range depending upon the type of run I am doing. Just started traing for my first full marathon a…

Really good with lettuce wraps too!

Love Love Love the laughing cow. They have basically replaced butter for me. I love using it on my toast (silver hills) with a poached egg on top. I will have it with a bagel as the spread with a big pile of baby spinach in between. They are really good on apples too. I typically only purchase the plain ones though.

Thanks - I have been running for 6 years now (took it up when I was about 230 pounds - I am almost 100 less than that now), and have run the half before. Have really wanted to do the full, but this is the year that my kids are at the age where I can really start devoting the time to it (my oldest can watch my youngest for…

Very excellent points - if you are soooo close to 250K but don't know how close - you are going to do as much as you can to get there. Really, NBC should not be having a 3 1/2 month gap at the end. If she is athletic, hopefully she will realize that she should "bulk up" now and settle at around 120+

Back from my vacay. I logged on travel days and once I landed in Jamaica the first thing I enjoyed was a non logged rum punch...lol. I weighed myself right before I left and as soon as I got home. When I got home at midnight I was 9 pounds up. By the next morning I weighed again and I was down. A few days later and all has…

I am finding this superinteresting. I won't be logging because I know I will gain a bit of weigh and I know I will loose it, I never log at an all inclusive. We always go to resorts where you can eat at the al a cartes each night of the week. Typically I will select an appy or dessert and a main course. There are always…
-
Never go to the resort gym...I walk a lot and go snorkelling and scuba diving. That burns a lot of cals.
-
Ya, I know that. But I know a week of not worrying about it will take me a week or maybe a bit more to lose. I actually do this silly thing where I weigh myself the morning I leave, log my weight and then realize the next time I get on the scale it will be 5-10 pounds more. I weigh myself when I get home, shrug it off, own…

I cook and we all eat the same, whole, healthy meals....the only difference is I eat fish and the rest of my family doesn't so I will poach a fish fillet and cook chicken or something for my family sometimes.

My motivation is. Knowing that the payoff comes quicker when I excercise than when I don't. I also find exercise is me time and a way better way to relieve life's stress than bad for me food.

Is it just me or does this look like one of the rooms in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory?
-
I get up, start my coffee, get dressed, pour my coffee (in a go mug) finish lunches and shoot to be at the gym at 445 on weekdays. That way I can do some cardio and weights. For me coffee and the pre workout movement is key

2sluces silver hills little big bread, toasted topped with 1wedge laughing cow cheese, with 2poached eggs. Fruit on the side. Warm and a punch of protein for the cold winters.

Speaking from my personal experience - watch the raw "gassy" veggies (like cauliflower). I cannot eat it raw - it wreaks havic on my tummy. I find raw celery to be a good transition raw veggie (for me anyhow). And I was also feeling nauseaus and off when I started back on this. Upped my protein and it was what I needed!

I have two hot holidays coming up - the first is 38 days away! So I need to be good :) None of that darn Christmas bloating for me. :) Exercise and healthy choices.
-
Is this all becaus of Christmas food or does your work normally have food out? This is what I do - think they will be crying Jan 1 that they gained 10-15 lbs in holiday weight and you will not :)
-
5'7 also - I always say 135ish is my goal weight. It all depends on how the last 8 pounds to reaching that go as I want to be toned and not focus on the number (my focus is chiselling away the last bit of "muffin top" :)

Ohh. In oatmeal would be good!
