I would add more liquid - but rather than milk - maybe veggie broth or even water (or plain almond milk). And, one time I was making a meat loaf and I realized I had no bread crumbs. So I threw fresh bread in a mini chopper and ground it up (there were no chunks) - it adds alot of moisture. Now, I only use fresh bread.

I too have a desk job. So I am always trying to add movement into my day - even a 10 minute walk on a coffee break can help. I am also trying to train my daughters to sit legs together without being crossed as I know these genes can run deep.

Love it - as a 38 year old mom to two girls - 12 and 5 I learn to appreciate (or love) all the "boy bands" - one direction included. Mine is Rasputin and Cotton Eyed Joe.

Been there before. And, it can be expensive to eat healthy and financial stress can make us want to eat more (been there). If you are sacrificing something like a gym membership or tools that help you, look at your household expenses. If you can cut back your cable package, for example, invest that savings into a gym…

I have spider veins and a few vericose veins - they are genetic for me. They were jump started when I was pregnant. I was told by a specialist (cant remember the field, but I was referred to a specialist) that excercise and cardio combined with maintaining a healthy weight will keep them in check and significantly slow the…

I have a love hate relationship with running. THere are moments in a run that I will love and moments I hate. I have been running for 4 years now and I have done 4-5 km runs that have kicked my butt the entire time and 15 km runs that I have never felt tired the whole time. Red meat seems to really bring me down when…

Adding Chickpeas as a protien!! You can use them in any salad and for me they seem to be the protein that keeps on giving in terms of keeping you full. Another bonus is they go equally well with a more savory or sweet salad. I love a summer berry salad (blueberries, rasperries, strawberries, etc) with chickpeas, feta or…

To some, it does seem obsessive to count calories. To me it is no different than being financially responsible (and I have used this as an example) - I do a budget for my family. If I go over my budget I get into debt or dont put enough into savings. If I had $5000 in a month I am not going to earmark $6200 - otherwise I…

Yup - I went from a 10 to a 9 or 9 1/2.

Oh yes - bananas have been helping me with pms for long before I adopted a more healthy lifestyle :) I find some of the Peanut Butter and co peanut butters have worked to: http://ilovepeanutbutter.com/peanut-butter-1.html

Thanks - I am the chocolate monster with PMS - successfully fighting off that craving and not letting myself eat the chocolate was just a huge deal for me. I find it disheartening when the response is - just have chocolate.
"Exactly. When I want chocolate, a plum is just a silly thing. A small piece of high quality, dark chocolate is eminently worth a hundred calories."
Thank you for calling what I thought was a pretty great thing for me (my little plum) silly. I was just trying to help others who may have the same issue…

Im in! totally my goal. I joined the group, but how do I FIND the group now that I've joined it (this is the first group I joined).

I really would suggest perhaps not slimfast - I have used the bars in a crunch for a cal boost or meal replacement - then I discovered cliff bars - so much better. Making your own lunches is easy - you just need a cooler bag and a little lunch ice pack if you don't have acess to a fridge.

I save 200-250 cals for after supper. I have found a huge help is maple flavored microwave oatmeal (quaker) - can find it for 160-170 cals. No milk or anything. I put less water in so I get it super sweet. And, you can eat oatmeal really slowly, becasue its hot. I also will have things like a wedge of cow cheese (35 cals),…

I think I actually worked out more becasue I learned the benefits of excercise outside of losing weight - it is such a stress releiver and, once you hit your goal weight and hit maintenance mode, the more you excercise the more food you can eat. It also keeps your metabolism boosted.
-
Is a 1/4 cup (one serving) dry whole wheat couscous not 150 -160 cals (is that considered high cal)? I just prepare it with organic veggie broth and a bit of seasoning salt. I think it is right in line with quinoia for cals - actually I think quinoia is slightly higher in cals for a single serving.

You should show her this..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2289354/Eat-appals-34-pooshups-Horrified-mother-finds-handwritten-diet-exercise-regime-seven-year-old-daughters-bedroom.html I had to have "the talk" with my mother in law when my oldest was, wait for it, 5 years old. Every time she would lift her on her…

Just remember - kids outside playing is a fantastic and free activity. I will take my kids to the park and set up "obstacle courses" for a fun activity. There are elements of running, climbing and competing involved - they LOVE it. And, they get an extra jolt of activity too.
-
First off - talk to the grandma and tell her never never never to use that word again. The "F" word to a 9 year old girl is about one of the WORST things you can say to her. Nine is the start of the tweens - that dreaded age where hormones start to kick it up a notch and all of a sudden our "my little pony" loving girls go…

This is so bad and I can't even believe I am admitting it (so please don't attack me)....my first half marathon I did alot of pre and post training hydration with diet pepsi...on long run days I would get up about 90 minutes early so I could have a big go mug of coffee with artificial sweetener. It did not make me crave…

I gave up peanut butter the day I learned I could have two wedges of full fat cow cheeses for less cals than 1 tbsp of pb - lol

This made me think of the "friend" who yelled out to me in the supermarket "Omy god, you've lost a TONNE, How much have you lost, how did you do it" Really? Really!! Well, clearly since I lost a "Tonne" I have lost over 2000 lbs so why are you asking me how much I lost.
-
Yes - becasue we ALL know the gym is an aweful offensive place - lol

Check, Check, Check, Check....Adding in - are you sick, you look gaunt, you are obsessed, do you have an eating disorder, who are you trying to impress, you are too skinny…..not only that, my husband got two calls at work (from a person who was overweight then and now weighs about the same as me. And my coworkers were…

I've seen those before - they are at the fair between the deep fried snicker bars and the foot long corn dogs - poutine is across the way, eh.......YUMMMMY!

This for me is my awesome goto - Natures Path Hemp plus oatmeal: http://shop.naturespath.com/Hemp-Plus-Oatmeal/p/NPA-450337&c=NaturesPath@HotCereals. I toss in 14 grams of almonds (95 cals). I am wierd - I donlt like milk or sugar with oatmeal. I have fruit with it too. This gives me so much energy. I also like smoothies -…

Thanks for the tips - I think I am going to check out the online tools/apps. I am really happy with my gym (except for this personal training thing) and super excited as they are opening up a location next door to where I work - so I may even do weights on my lunch break. Personal motivation isn't an issue for me - I am…

To the op - What an amazing and inspiring story and an unbeleivable transformation. It is so fantastic that you are sharing this so that people with what seems like an unsurmountable amount of weight to lose, know that it can be done. I would like to ask you though, how were your personal relationships (friends/family) in…

Guess what - I bet most of them wouldn't be able to try on YOUR clothes now :) I was always the biggest in my class - I surpassed my weight before I even started weighing myself when I was a kid (I'm thinking 12 or so). Now, alot of the kids that were "skinny minnies" in school - they have the beer bellies and are…
