I had a heck of a time with this concept. I didn't want to eat more when I was trying to lose weight! My personal trainer finally drilled it into my head though. Basically to break it down, your body needs the energy from calories in order to burn more calories. If you aren't getting enough calories, your body isn't…

I'm 5'7/5'8 and also have a larger frame. My senior year of high school I was 170 and was a healthy size 12. I was really happy with how I looked and felt then. Right now I'm back up to an 18, which I hate. For our heigh, 145-165 is a healthy weight range. I'd be perfectly content with 165 and would be ecstatic to be 150!…

Definitely be flattered and use it as a little morale booster...HOWEVER...be wary of these kinds of guys. Last year I had lost a bunch of weight and started dating a guy who seemed great. Until he showed me a photo of a girl on Facebook that he dated in high school and made the comment that he was glad it didn't work out…

I do agree with some of you about the frequency of MFP postings on FB. I only had it linked so that calories burned and pounds lost showed up, but I changed the setting today to only show when I lose weight, which should only be once or twice a week at most. Any time I post a status update about my fitness challenge (which…

Thank you all so much for the words of wisdom! It's sad that I get more support from my pals on MFP than I do from my best friend of 12 years. There's no way I'm going to stop posting about my weight loss because I'm damn proud of what I've accomplished! I've also been told by several nutritionists and health experts that…

GREAT JOB!!! Keep up the good work =)

My mom makes these and they're delicious!! And I absolutely hate pumpking...but you can't taste the pumpkin at all. They're so moist and tasty! Another thing you can try is mixing a cake mix with a can of diet soda. The combinations are endless! We tried a strawberry cake mix with diet 7up and it was awesome! I love the…

Welcome to MFP!! I've been on this site for two months now, and I absolutely love it! It's great to be connected to people who are in the same fight you are. We keep each other motivated and on track!

I'm definitely in! The fitness challenge I'm doing through my gym also ends April 30 so this'll work out perfectly =)

Welcome to MFP!! As people have said, you'll always find support and motivation here =) I love the accountability it offers and that you get to brag about your accomplishments or vent when times get tough. -- Kari

First off, you have to know that you're not alone, and I think you've made a huge step by admitting that your obsession is causing issues in your work life and personal life. That being said, your next step is to get help in some way. As Toni mentioned, your employer should have an Employee Assistance Program. Talk to your…

One more thing...as crazy as it sounds, make sure you're eating all the calories you're allowed in a day. If your target is 1200 a day, eat 1200 a day (as many healthy calories as you can obviously). People often times skip calories thinking they'll lose weight, but they're basically starving their body. I know a lot of…

I agree that you should switch up the foods you're eating and change up the type of workouts you're doing. I used to belong to Weight Watchers and there was a girl who hit a plateau and stayed there for about six months and was getting frustrated. She was finally able to break through that wall by switching things up (she…

I'm not a member there, but I worked out there with a friend who's a member. It's a pretty cool gym, the equipment was all relatively new and the locker room area was pretty nice. The only thing I didn't like was that they don't have monitors on the equipment. I'm a member at X-Sport and each piece of cardio equipment has…

It's way too easy to make excuses sometimes! I was on vacation last week and the first night on the cruise ship I decided to suck it up and go to the fitness center. I was bummed because it was closed already (it was 10:00 pm by that point) so rather than taking the easy way out and going back to my room, I started running…

I don't believe they're very accurate unless you put in your weight as others have mentioned. Otherwise it's just a generalization.

It always helps having a supportive group of people ready to motivate you when you need it! Plus I find that it's helpful having the accountability. When I know someone's going to be checking in on my progress I'm less likely to slack off!

Everyone is different so there's no concrete answer for you unfortunately. Some people need to deprive themselves completely of their trigger foods. My mom, for example, started WW a couple years ago and from Day 1 did not eat one bad meal and worked out religiously. Her hard work paid off, and she lost 85 pounds in 8…

Your goal isn't unrealistic, but it's definitely lofty. Just don't set yourself up for disappointment because realistically you won't be able to maintain a 2 pound loss every week for 4-5 months. There are going to be weeks where you'll only lost half a pound or one pound. Be prepared for that mentally so you're not…
