Friends. I live with a long time friend and his wife and kids. No room in the fridge for me so I either eat whatever they're having or go to a restaurant. Makes it impossible to plan my meals. I didn't even realize the problem until recently when I looked back on my situation when living alone a few years ago where I was…

I'm always over on my sugar because I'm a coffee drinker and like it sweet, but I don't worry too much about it. As far as protein is concerned, I'm thinking that's generally a good thing. As long as you're getting the right amount of fats and not getting more protein than carbohydrates, it's basically just working out to…

If you're losing inches, I wouldn't worry about the weight. If I could maintain my weight while gaining 20 lbs of muscle, I'd be ecstatic. Not that you should take this to imply you've packed on an unusual amount of muscle.

I'm interested in how the groups here work (haven't been around long), but my recipes tend to be limited to "Put two slices of ham between two slices of bread." Sometimes I substitute the ham with turkey. One of these days I'll probably substitute the bread with turkey and have an interesting, if somewhat slimy, experience.

I generally eat whenever I feel like it until I exceed (or am about to exceed) my goal. Sometimes I pace myself when I know I'm not going to get any excercise in, but since cutting back on caloric beverages, my hunger and my calorie goal seem to match up pretty well.

Your weight and your body fat do not directly correlate so you can't use that as an indicator. It's all about lean body mass as a percentage of total body weight. Of course, an ideal body fat % (if there is such a thing) will very from person to person. Especially women due to the difference in natural fat distribution. My…

At the very least do calisthenics (pushups, crunches, body weight squats and pullups/chinups if you have a bar you can get to(I don't have one but I try pullups every time I'm at the park)). Aside from that, some kind of cardio which doesn't have to be all that intense. Depending on your normal level of activity, simply…

For a support network here: Hey!! This girl needs friends. Add please. For a support network at home, I can't help you. I have a 5'6" girlfriend who is at my goal weight and a best friend who's 5'8" and 20lbs more than me insisting it's stupid for me to be trying to lose weight. I'm 6' so they really should be working on…

I boil it down to, could this food have been made before the cotton gin. With that in mind, not all natural food is good for you.

When it comes down to it, if you stick to this site on a daily basis and keep using the food and excercise trackers for the long term, you'll have success. (Assuming there isn't an underlying medical condition that will give you trouble) Just stick to the numbers and keep losing that fraction of a pound per day and, while…

All it really takes is checking in with the food and excercise trackers. I could have never dreamed of doing a reasonable diet before joining this site but now that I can actually look at something that tells me where I am for the day calorie wise, it's been a much easier experience than I ever expected. And I'm not…

Oddly, now that I'm dieting, I just started drinking soda again so I can take my caffeine withdrawals in stages. Doing three or four cans a day. Prior to that, I was doing three or four cups of coffee a day to come down from two pots a day. Prior to the two pots a day I was drinking iced coffee (basically a generic…

I don't have any experience with trying to deny myself sugary foods (I'm much more of a sugary drinks kind of guy) but I understand you can go a long way by replacing all the candy and pastries with fruit. Not quite the same, but it should diminish the cravings.

Cheyenne, WY. Home of absolutely nothing, but it's nice and quiet.

You absolutely should not just stick to cardio. With the amount of weight you plan to lose, building up the abdominal wall is the only way you're going to prevent a hernia. Also, keep in mind, that the amount of muscle you can gain is laughable in comparison to the amount of fat you can lose so the difference will always…

Good job for recovering from a horrible situation. I don't have the proper frame of reference for your situation, but I imagine you've already gotten through the hardest part by committing to turn yourself back around from it. Good luck.

Good job. Getting off the caffeine is the hard part. For giving up non caffeinated drinks, it's just a matter of continuing to drink water until you prefer it. I'm currently cycling off caffeine because the last time I tried to quit cold turkey it was like coming down from heroin. (Not that I have any personal experience…

Road my girlfriend's bicycle from my house to my former roomate's house, picked up the helmet I'd left sitting in his shed for 5 years and road back. Worked out to an average speed of 9 miles an hour. Whoever wrote the fitness calculator and decided to refer to that as a leisurely pace is either an Olympic athlete or…
