First off, I think it is impossible to assess OP and her relationship as a whole, because we are not there with her every day and don't see what actually goes on or doesn't go on, just based on this small blip of information. Second, it depends on what level of distaste he feels for your fitness/diet. For example, my…

wanted to also mention that you probably should be avoiding fried foods. That is one of the worst kinds of fats. There is some interesting research regarding omega3:omega6 ratios in diets and improving outcomes, and trying to increase your omega 3 ratio is beneficial. Well, fish is great for that, EXCEPT for when you fry…

fat does get a very bad rap. I am a 'health care professional' too and I do think some people worry too little, but not the person who is eating (natural) peanut butter, avocado, hummus, olive oil, etc. for fat. Just look up that recent study on the Mediterranean diet, which is high in fat, but also high in omega-3 (fish),…

i usually buy firm and extra firm. I just drain it, cut it up, and add it to recipes like stews, soups, chilis, stir-frys, etc. I probably am not doing it right but that's what I do and it tastes excellent.

Hi, I'm glad ti will be a better situation for your son. It is also very helpful not having fast food or other junk food places around; I find that I have a lot of self control at the grocery store but not as much at restaurants or when I'm at work and someone brings something in (partially because it's free). As far as…

I am so sorry that this has all happened to you. I wish you the best and I will be praying for you. Regarding the loss of your limb (potentially)...I work with patients who often have to get amputations due to diabetes or vascular diseases. They have to go through a grieving process for their limbs just as if it was a…

wow this article is horrible!! Some of those girls look absolutely fine!! I don't think having a bone protruding means you're unhealthy. I have always been naturally thin and have several. I would be on their "nasty list". Especially since I also have a belly still from pregnancy. Geez, give it a rest. If regular people…

what does that even mean, "hasn't achieved personal fitness"? When does a person "achieve" this personal fitness? Is there some moment in time when you can say that? Because I always thought personal fitness was a journey and about being better today than you were the day before. I don't think you can ever "achieve" it.…

I noticed I was starving the first few days of dieting, but the other day when I actually ate 1200 calories (and didn't exercise), I felt full and only really wanted food as a comfort and not out of hunger. Give it a couple of days. Also, I am hypothyroid, and the whole soy thing is actually only true for those who are…

all correct except really you're more pooping them away because they don't even have a chance to make it to the blood stream and get processed into the urine.

agree with the above two. you might not be chewing them fully, which isn't really going to hurt you, you just aren't getting the full nutrition of the food. As long as you don't have severe stomach cramping, diarrhea, pain, or blood in your stool, I would think you're probably fine and don't have an allergy or other GI…

Also wanted to add....protein needs have nothing to do with how many calories you are eating. Calories go up and down based on whether you are trying to lose, gain, or maintain. But protein needs are based on the amount of muscle you are trying to build and your general health, and then a baseline of how much your body…

It really depends on whether you have the need for additional protein. I am a dietitian so this IS what I do every day (not weight loss, LOL). The minimum absolute MINIMUM protein you need is 0.6 g/kg every day. To get your weight in kg, divide your weight in pounds by 2.2. That is generally what is prescribed for those…

You can add me if you'd like! I am really looking to get more fit. I do have about 5-10 lbs of extra fat to lose, but I am mainly trying to tone up and get fit. I keep meaning to add pictures, but it might take me a bit!

Thanks! I have been doing cardio and strength training and putting that in too, so hopefully that will help. Unfortunately I only have about 30 minutes a day because of my work schedule, but I do what I can.

this is exactly how I feel and have always felt. I am willing to make other sacrifices to make my family have a healthy diet. Plus, really you aren't saving any money if you take into account the high costs of medical care that are inevitable down the pipeline if you don't take care of yourself.

so 25 kcal/kg for me would be 1625 so I think this is what I'm going to shoot for. Hopefully that will allow my weight loss to go at a fast enough pace. I really would like to get this 10 lbs off within the next month or two.

yes, obviously I do know that I don't want to starve myself. But I was just looking for some advice. I have never tried to lose weight before, I naturally lost 20 lbs after I started my nutrition degree, but then after 2 kids I just have an extra 10-15 that need to come off and aren't coming as easily. and PS...dietitians…

why exactly do you smell a troll?? I am a Dietitian so yes I am eating whole grains, fruits, veggies, all the right stuff. I am just still hungry. Think I'm going to up it to 1600. Thanks, everyone.
