Advice (everyone has some) mine is be brutally honest when logging calories. I personally do not log any exercise calories - that way I do not eat them back. And - I agree with the people who said it is a lifestyle change and who say that walking is your friend. Welcome to MFP

For Activity level - generally the theory is to leave exercise out of the equation, and base it on what you do during a normal day (that means weight training, Pilates and walking do not count) I prefer being conservative so I would say light activity.

I agree, I find that hard to believe - I even find leisurely swimming at ~380 calories hard to believe, especially with the natural buoyancy of the water. The big question is what does MFP consider moderate or vigorous or leisurely effort?? I looked up one site and it stated swimming the crawl 75ft/minute as almost 700…

all depends. I do ~1680 a day (under that by a little frequently) and I have lost an average of just under 4 pounds a week for the 16 weeks I have been on MFP. so it depends on your exercise regimen, your current weight, average activity level, and even metabolism.

Much information missing. starting weight for instance. It is hard to give advice without a starting point. I will say that losing 30 pounds is very possible, but I always had at least a 1600 calorie daily limit.

Yes, cheat days seem to work for me but within limits/rules I originally set up. 1. absolutely count all calories 2. Do not add back exercise calories (I never even put them on MFP) 3. Keep a running total of number of calories not used (number under) 4. On weekly weigh in day, subtract 30% of the calories not used - these…

Marketing ploy! It is a great name and a good way for a company to get your money. The Company is selling an idea and an emotion not results. I agree with others here. I prefer real food.

This may sound a little strange, but this seems to work for me. I put my numbers into MFPs calculator (day job -light activity, weight, goal, weight loss per week, etc), but then I digress from MFPs recommendations. I do not add in exercise calories. Not saying I do not exercise, I do. I just do not add those calories…

Same day of the week, Same time of the day, (for me, Wednesday morning between 5:00 and 6:00), same circumstances (before breakfast), same clothes (socks, T-shirt, shorts). For me - one "official/recorded". Weigh in per week....my weight fluctuates too much hour to hour and day to day to do "official" weigh-ins mor often.

I started with a goal of losing 100 pounds, I have done mostly cardio (like walking to work, and occasionally a rowing machine), having said that, I also had some heavy work around the house I had to do so I probably got some strength training in also (building, digging, moving). so in my opinion, a mix with a focus on…

there is not that much difference in calories between chicken, beef and pork if the meat is lean.

Judging from my own actions you pretty much hit it. I made up a few additional rules when I started on MFP. 1. Do not log any exercise - maybe I will get to that point but for now I am only interested in food and calorie count from food (been that way for 14 weeks) 2. Save up calories - if under for a day - add to unused…

My settings are the default settings supplied with MFP. 56 Fat and 63 Protein I seldom go over on fat (but I get close most of the time) and frequently go over on protein

Did not get those episodes. Did have simlilar weight loss my first week (9 lbs) I cut out candy, cookies and cake. I started out at 271 lbs. But I never got the shakes or sweats - sounds like an addiction withdrawl.

If you do not like store chickens, don't be a problem - grow your own. Chickens grow quickly, any one who has ever been on a farm knows this. Be more constructive - get some land and become a farmer - from past experience you will probably have less time to complain on websites like this, and in fact - with all the work…

44 Waist Pants - now in 40 waist pants (fortunately I kept a couple pair). Shirt X large was tight - now X large is rather loose and can wear some of my large size shirts that I kept.

If you are honest - very honest and accurate with your calorie counting MFP will keep you on track. I do not count (add back in) exercise calories. So far it has worked well for me. There are no gimmicks and this seems to bore some people. But for me it works rather well.

Very good! I lost 9 pounds the first week, Then the challenge began - every week will not be like the first some weeks were ok, some weeks I wondered if I would lose anything - the trick is to stick with it and be honest.

What is a brisk pace to you?
