Welcome to the group SJ! This is a fun place to share things that the younger folks on the forums can't relate to.

Me too

I have cut out beer for the most part (and I love a good craft beer) but have indulged in a pint on two different occasions without hurting my weight loss. I've also switched to vodka (64 cals per oz) and diet cranberry juice (5 cals per 8 oz.) In a bar, they don't have the diet juice, so I get half juice and half soda. If…

Tinnitus is a menopause symptom? Oh, that is awful!
-
Mamadon, is this a current picture? You look so good!

I too follow MFP's suggested 1200 calories, and I don't work out much - just walk my dog several times a week, and try to get a short walk in during my lunch break at work. I usually eat back at least some of my exercise calories, and since starting in June have lost 32 lbs. I know I'll need to step up the exercise now…

Okay, here's another addition: While getting my hair cut earlier this week, my hair dresser pointed out the "peach fuzz" along my jawline and suggested I get it waxed. Aaaaaaarrrrrggghhhhh!!!!
-
Hmm. That could be an option for me.

The ones with the sea salt and turbinado sugar? Holy cow! Me, too!

This^ Why do you need Weight Watchers is you have MFP for free?
-
Welcome to MFP. You've made a wise choice. I applaud your efforts at turning your life around. :flowerforyou:

I take an antidepressant (citalopram) which incidentally helps with night sweats. Also a ceiling fan all year long! I was concerned that menopause would hamper my weightloss, but that hasn't been the case at all. I don't have much of an exercise routine, but try to walk outdoors on my lunch break, and with my dog after…

Congratulations on making a healthy choice. I believe you will love MFP and the supportive community here.

Pickles are good, and popcorn too. Get the 100 calories bags of microwave popcorn. I spray mine with zero calorie cooking spray so the seasoning salt I love will stick to it. If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, they have some snacks that are pretty low cal. I like the Preztel slims and the mini savory rice crackers.

I hear that Caren! Are you not sleeping because of night sweats? Or, is it just that you keep waking up and are not able to get back to sleep? I get so drowsey sometimes during the day at work, but at night when I try to close my eyes to sleep, my mind just races!

Can't wait to read Dr. Sleep! Currently I'm listening to "1000 White Women" by Fergus on CD while I commute to work. A fictional account of what would have happened had the government's Brides for Indians program actually become reality. (In 1875) Wonderful story, and read extremely well. I highly recommend it!

Oh my goodness, Nitza! You hit the nail right on the head!

So far I've avoided serious binge days because I'm terrified of logging them and seeing my friends' reactions! On my naughtiest day so far I had a cookie and a beer in the same day. :drinker:

If you aren't already seeing a chiropractor, I can see your reluctance to start now. I've been seeing the same one for 20 years. I recently went to a new one and had a bad experience. Massage might be a good choice, though, if your muscles are clamping up on you. Best of luck and let us know how it goes on Monday!
-
This sounds awful! I'm so sorry. The fact that your neck, back, and shoulders are painful does sound a bit like muscle tension. Have you tried massage? Or a chiropractor?
-
This^ I'm glad you upped your calorie intake. You will feel better with a healthier approach to your body. In your profile you state that you used to weigh 108 3 years ago. At the age of 18 you weren't even fully grown for crying out loud!
-
You look amazing! Congratulations on your amazing success, and thank you for inspiring me to continue!
-
Okay, you said embarassing, right? Shame on me, but I love "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails

You have to be creative to eat healthy at work, but it can be done. You can pack your own food and healthy snacks. If you are busy enough, there isn't time to eat!

Hi there, I'm not sure why you think a desk job is "better", other than the benefits, which restaurant jobs usually don't offer. I worked as a server and bartender until my mid-twenties, and have been sitting on my behind at a desk ever since. I have back and hip pain constantly, my eyes are bad from staring at a computer…

I never gave a thought to burning calories with "alternative" exercise until joining MFP. I'd love to burn 600 calories, but donating blood terrifies me! One of my MFP friends made up an exercise called Car Dancing because she spends so much time on the road. You crank up the music, put on the cruise control, and dance…

I bought my first scale ever when I joined MFP in June. First I bought the cheapest dial-type scale for $7.99. The first time I stepped on it, I couldn't read the dial! These old eyes just don't work like they used to. Took it back and bought a digital scale, and now I add weighing to my Friday morning routine.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a Fitbit (or other HRM) and wonder what makes this one special. Would you recommend it, and why? Thanks, Sherry

Hi there, While I am by no means an expert, I looked at your diary and I agree with previous posters that you need to eat more. You are most likely eating below your BMR (search for it in the forums) which will severely impact your weight loss because your body will slow down to cope with this low calorie intake. Also, it…
