• Wow, one month with no replies? I'm pretty sure that the little blips as you call them are perfectly normal. Weight loss isn't always linear. Maybe you are weighing too often. I would recommend weighing once per week only. And, like you said, the bottom line is that you are losing. Keep up the good work.
• Did you also log your workout in MFP? Also, I'm not an expert, but perhaps later today the adjustment will be different.
• Oatmeal with a few nuts and craisins. Also, Uncle Sam's cereal has tons of fiber and very little sugar. You'd be able to add fruit and still have a lower sugar breakfast.
• I bought a fitbit one year ago, and love it! Recently I've stopped wearing it religiously, but I have a good idea of my average steps now. Warning: they are slightly addicting!
• Hi Chio, Sounds like you are doing something right, since you've lost inches. The weight is most likely added muscle (which weighs twice as much as fat). Are you logging all of your food? That really helped me.
• Did MFP recommend 1370 calories? That seems incredibly low for your size.
• I'm right there with you. I've only gained back about 4 lbs, but I wasn't at my goal weight yet. I went right back to most of my old eating habits - most of all eating candy and other sweets, and not logging. Springtime is here, and now's the time for renewal! Let's pledge to ourselves to get healthy and stay that way. I…
•
7. Don't try e-cigarettes. You'll just look like a douche. History will prove me right.
Not sure about the looking like a douche part, but I agree. e-cigs are supplying nicotine just like the tabacco kind. Nicotine is what you are addicted to. Stop using nicotine. As data is collected regarding e-cigs, I…
• Congratulations on quitting! I quit just over 20 years ago. It was the most difficult, and the most rewarding thing I have ever done. My advice is to replace cigs with water. Have a water bottle with you at all times, and suck on it whenever you feel a craving. Some words of wisdom that helped me at the time: Cigarette…
• Oh Scuba! I agree with Chelstakencha: I have not done a good job of supporting you. Thanks for waking me up! One thing I know for sure, you would never accept that kind of negativity from another person, so why do you accept it from yourself? We truly need to change our thought patterns. When you feel you are "bad", a…
• 1200 calories is so low, that I eat back my exercise calories (which are usually pretty meager). In fact, I exercise at times just so I can eat more - walk the dog before dinner for example so I can eat a bit more. I've done this for the last 6 months and have had a loss every week until fairly recently wnen I got to…
• This might be a question for MFP. I tried to find setting myself, but couldn't. I agree it would be nice to have.
• I go to bed super early, so this isn't generally a problem for me. I do keep a toothbrush in my desk at work so I can brush my teeth in the afternoon when I start feeling snacky. It helps. I also did (until I got lazy) teeth whitening. Got the trays from the dentist. I applied the gel after dinner, and considered my mouth…
• This is definitely a difficult time of year, with all the holiday celebrations. I sometimes find it difficult to skip a dish at a potluck, but not because the creator will be offended. I know myself, and if I indulge, I may not be able to control myself. Soon I'll end up eating seconds. Seriously. Better not to even take a…
• Welcome to the group! You'll find a great bunch of ladies here who are all respectful and caring (and fun, too).
• I went once with a friend from work many years ago. I thought it was kind of fun. It's a quick in-and-out workout so maybe fits more schedules than some other types of exercise. My observation at that time, though, was that all the women there were quite a bit overweight. Okay, so could it be possible that they were all…
• You're funny Nancy! Joining a group of 50+ ladies so you can be the young'en.
• No one is asking for personal information for crying out loud - simply a first name so we know what to call each other. Paranoid much?
• Hi Aspieb, Have you used the recipe builder here? It's an easy way to calculate your home cooked foods. Takes a few minutes to set up a recipe, but then you save it and you can add it to your diary easily. As for MFP's food database, I've been surprised by just how many of the things I eat are already entered there by…
• Funny, but my musical taste has gone the opposite way in my older age (I'm 55). In the nineties I was listening to Country (what was I thinking?) so I missed a lot of great nineties rock. Now I love NIN, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Nirvana, and some Rap as well. My husband has been horrified to start my car and hear my…
• "There's no crying in baseball!"
• I've always been curious about this. If I deny a request, what does the person making the request see? I sometimes get requests from people I have absolutely nothing in common with, and can't figure out why they want to add me. Already I find it cumbersome to scroll and scroll to view my existing friends' posts. Instead of…
• I took birth control pills for my entire reproductive life - with the exception of a few years when I tried unsuccessfully to get pregnant. So, my periods were always regular. Once I went off the pill a year ago, I had one light period and nothing since. So, I can't speak to your situation, but it could simply be a…
• I believe the last year (at least) that I was taking The Pill, is the only thing that kept me having periods. I kept begging my nurse practitioner to let me stop taking them when I turned 50, but she made me wait a couple more years. After I stopped at the end of last year, I had one tiny period and then never again. I…
• Hi Mary, You've come to the right place for encouragement and success. MFP is a fun, easy, and totally free way to get healthy. Best of luck to you! ~Sherry
• Congratulations from a fellow former Size 14!
• I read Gone Girl and another book by the same author (Sharp Objects, maybe?) Both good books. Currently listening to The Shining on CD in preparation for Dr. Sleep. Also reading The Bone Bed by Patricia Cornwell.
