Denied friend requests

The site should remove the add friend button for someone who has said no. If I try to friend you and you deny it, I may not remember and try again in the future. If the button goes away after saying no, I'd know not to bother you again.

Is it really that big an issue? Denying a friend request really isn't that arduous.

They might forget that they denied you before and accept the second time around.

unless he is a total creeper....in which case he will still be denied.

just trying not to be a stalker. Is anything online a big issue?

why have you started a thread about it then? If you don't want to be a stalker, then don't stalk. If you send the same person a friend request twice, I doubt it's going to get to court.

Next time I'll remember to ask your permission before I make a thread. You wouldn't happen to be a school teacher?

You can do what you like. But I reserve the right to give my opinion on a public forum. And no. You're way off, but feel free to keep guessing.

Which is obviously way to considerate for some! I mean really, why even, ugh bother!

Then again, you can only hope some people deny - right?

I think it's a good idea. I also don't think there's anything wrong with this thread, or anything wrong with being considerate.

True that! Trust me, there are many guys who will just be a pain in the *kitten* and just keep requesting repeatedly, as if they will eventually wear you down and change your mind. It is refreshing that Beastmaster is at least making an attempt to be respectful. More of that should go on in human communication in general.

I disagree. One the second denied request the recipient should be granted a Public Shaming button.

Do you seriously not remember trying to add me 28 times already?!

I've always been curious about this. If I deny a request, what does the person making the request see? I sometimes get requests from people I have absolutely nothing in common with, and can't figure out why they want to add me. Already I find it cumbersome to scroll and scroll to view my existing friends' posts. Instead of "DENY", why not a button that says "NO THANK YOU" ?

I accept everyone.. but if they post idiot posts or send a bunch of pm's asking if I'm single or looking I delete em.. lol.

uh.. you look really strong, I like strong girls.

uh.. what size are your calves, they are hot.

uh.. do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend..

uh.. I'm trying to stay fit or get fit for my special someone.

    sorry I don't know you.. DELETE ;)

We've been over this...spelling "hot" as "hawt" is an instant denial!
  • I have 3 "friends". I actively support them, and them me. I found when I had more I was just typing "great job", without knowing their journey. As friends stopped showing up to MFP I deleted them. I kept my 3 committed friends. This works for me. :flowerforyou:

This is funny... I have four requests sitting in my queue, because I don't accept male MFP's (for a variety or reasons) I sent each one a nice note explaining why I was not accepting their request. However, I cannot bring myself to click Decline... it seems so mean... :/. So they just sit there..... A No Thank you would be easier for me to click on than a DECLINE! lol

Apologies. Its just a profession that occasionally forgets that other adults aren't students in their classroom.

How the heck can you stand the red notifications just sitting there all the time?! That would drive me insane. If I have a request from someone I've never seen/talked to before, I will deny it to make the notification go away. I usually message them for a while to make sure they aren't a creep (unless I've seen them in the forums or on mutual friends' lists) then I'll send them a request.
