  • I have just always watched my sugar and salt intake. I have been doing lots of homemade beef vegetable soup, chili with extra beans, smoothies and oatmeal. Was just looking for something different. It working as lost 10 pounds in 3 months and didn't want to get bored with eating same thing. Thanks for all your responses
  • Can either of you give out the recipe that you like to make this ? Mine doesn't come out right either...
  • Home made vegetable soup. Found it in a cookbook my grandma was given by a Nutritionist. Only 100 calories in 1 cup. So filling I can't even finish 2 cups!
  • Not sure if money is a problem but for 3 weeks you could order the food that gets delivered 3 or 4 times a week and have the low carb option. My go to for needing to lose weight of not gain is a big patch of homemade vegetable soup that only have 100 calories per cup! Very filling and you can add what your lacking to your…
  • I can for sure relate to the stress. Had my physical and gained 20 of my 30 pounds lost 2 years ago with fitpal. Back on here and lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks. You don't realize how much you put in your mouth until you write it down. Then by dinner i know just how many calories are left. I've been dealing with Physical and…
  • That is exactly what I did this morning :-).. I was under the 1200 by 200calories and I found I had way to much items with sugar for the day. So I cut items, so sugar was back in line and adjusted to get the 1200 calories. Thank you for the reply!
  • Extra weight would add to my knee pressure. Doctor told me 30 pound loss is 120 pounds of pressure off my knee's and I have avoided bone on bone because of the weight loss. So carrying extra weight around would be bad. Not sure about resistant bands but doing Pilates hurts the knees. The row machine builds muscle nicely to…
  • Ashley, no processed foods aloud in the house and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. But yes... I am going through some stress. You could of hit what one of the problems could be. Don't know how to avoid that though :ohwell:
  • Thank you. My weight now is 161.5. My goal weight is 157 as that is what I weighted 25 years ago when I had by first back surgery and felt good and had those 3 pounds of wiggle room for bad days of over eating. I am eating around 1200-1300 each day. Swimming I agree is great or more what I call fast walking in the water…
  • Just keep recording your food and weight up and down results. It will keep you on track and you can go back and look and see why you went up or what you did to go down.
  • Healthy Life has 35 calories a slice so 70 a sandwich and now you can have 3 slices of bacon  I get it at Kroger or Walmart.
  • I reached my goal of 25 pound loss in 8 months,as my doctor told me that number would take 100 pounds of pressure off my knees . I had bone on bone and am better and don't need knee replacement right now. I lost about 25 inches all over and went from a tight size 14 jeans to a comfortable size 8. I have kept the pounds off…
  • I take my bullet to work with ingredients to make a yogurt smoothie and add oatmeal.Very filling and around 250 calories with fresh fruit and skim milk in a container to add to the bullet. Then I have cut up veggies and dip in hummus.Pretty close to your 400 calorie goal.
  • I also found running or even walking did nothing for belly fat. Throw in some core work outs with Pilates and lost 2 inches in my waist belly area and less jiggle in about 6 to 8 weeks doing them 20 minutes 3 to 4 times a week. Y you can do Pilates during commercial breaks and in 1 hour did 15 minutes ;-)
  • Thank you both for the advice. I am thinking it will be about 2 to 3 months if I really try hard. I am going to get back to my row machine and pilates even if it is 3 /10 minute sessions a day and my oatmeal, yogurt and fruit smoothies and a ton of beef vegetable soup. August 1st sounded like a good day to start really…
  • I have had many people help me without looking at my diary.I knew what the problem was and just asked for a few suggestions.I didnt need people picking apart what I ate, which has happened before on MFP..Our Chinese place does the same thing with the sauce on the side.I usually get egg foo young or vegetable fried rice.
  • Thanks everyone. Must of also hit a small plateau as am down 2 pounds. I looked back through my diary and have been losing 1 pound a week and wasn't patient enough this past week. Did drink more water and watched salt intake for the past 5 days. This morning am close to another pound!
  • I know that.I asked what could be done when this happens. I know the problem. I needed a solution or help. I drink 8 to 10 glasses a day already.
  • I have done this for the past 8 months and the weight comes off slow and steady.I feel great and have knocked off 100 pounds of pressure off my arthritic knees. http://www.everydiet.org/diet/eat-stop-eat-24-hour-fast My dad past away 3 weeks ago and I went back to just eating the 1240 calories and doing really very little…
  • Thanks for all the responses. Eating more I have tried and gained. I changed up my work out and it helped some. The not working out for over a week (because of my dad's funeral) then starting up againseemed to work.I am down 2 pounds. I feel very confident that the other 2 will come off. I also started doing 10 to 20…
  • It took 8 months of pilates, biking, walking and row machine but thighs went from 23 inches to 19.5 and butt from 43 inches to 38.I lost in my bust, arms, hips, calfs, stomach and waist.Total of 25 inches. It can be done but isn't easy at 57 years old!
  • Hi~ I hate when people say it is muscle gain.1 lb of muscle weights the same as 1 pound of fat. Muscle doesn't weight more than fat! I am also trying to break a plateau of a 21/22 pound loss. I am 5'4 and feel great at 168 pounds. I think my body likes it too and eveey pound shed is a chore. I am losing but sometimes…
  • If you really want to try this for a week or two,try something called eat.fast .eat .Eat on Monday whatever your MFP has your calories at.Don't eat anything after 8pm and the next day you do water, tea, coffee until supper. Then eat very good for that meal.Next day eat again and stay within your MFP calories, next day do the…
  • I disagree with the not eating enough. Why then is there a 1200 calorie on MFP? I am set to lose 1 pound a week at 1240 calories.I am losing inches with the exercising but only about 1/2 pound a week or less. right now a loss is a loss. Try not eating all your exercise calories. You hit a plateau and that is really hard to…
  • I have trouble understanding why everyone keeps saying 1200 calories are too low.MFP sets that goal for us and not the other way around.I started out at 1270 and once I reached the 15 pound loss and set 10 more pounds to lose MFP set me at 1240 calories. 400 under is something I never do unless it is exercise calories.I…
  • I like the good old peanut butter and jelly on 100 calorie thin bagel bread.some carrot sticks and whole almonds. You might be able to make some healthy trail mix to snack on in between.Take the water instead of the juice or pop when they ask on the plane.Always can pack oranges and a banana or apple and a small container…
  • Skim milk, cottage cheese, beans and lentils, Greek yogurt ,hummus ,raw almonds and peanut butter are a few more. Sorry ,by the time I wrote this most of mine was already suggested.
  • I just did my "weigh in" this am and 169 and I'm 5'4.My goal is 164 end of April.Sounds easy enough after reading all the posts and some wanting to lose 8 to 10 pounds. For me though it seems to be either I lose inches or weight not both.I have been stuck at 169 for a month now but lost 2 more inches,so gives me some hope.
  • Brad Pilon wrote a book Eat Stop Eat. You always eat dinner everyday and every other day no breakfast, snacks or lunch, until supper again. I did this for 6 months and lost 22 pounds and 24 inches. I exercised also.
  • I can't do any squats or exercises that irritate the knee's.I had the start of bone on bone.Surgeon suggested the weight loss and Synvix One shot in each knee. Those last 6 to 8 months and after losing 22 pounds (which surgeon said was 88 pounds of pressure off my knees) and 24 inches, there is much improvement. But squats…
