Based on those stats, if your 4-6 days in the gym are strenuous cardio, that number doesn't seem unreasonable as long as you're not eating back any of the calories you earn for exercise. If that is weight lifting or strength training, it is likely too high for weight loss goals. How old are you?

I don't think he was asking for a quick fix. He was asking a sincere question that he didn't know the answer to. After all, he states he has been working out for the last year. I'm am amazed at how quickly some people in the forums assume the worst in people.

The OP is 5'4" and 130 pounds and asking about eating less than 1200 calories. Her goal is to lose 10 pounds by Christmas. 10 pounds in two weeks. Encouraging a person to reduce calories below 1200 is not good advice to begin with but coupled with recommending it to a person who is already in a normal BMI range is terrible…

Perhaps you can try weighing and calorie counting to get a better idea of what a serving looks like, then slowly transition to intuitive eating as your food intuition begins to closely match actual serving sizes.

What does number one mean? Number two will only work if you are eating in a calorie deficit. Weights and cardio are not needed for weight loss.

I am not one to promote books with a lot of unsubstantiated claims in them but one book about nutrition that I did like is "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollen.
