I had started the 30 day Breath a few days late so I finished up today. I wasn’t prepared for 50 minutes after doing a gym workout! I’m going to start another of her 30 day programs and just keep doing that until I really have the fundamentals down. I’m glad I took the time to create this new habit!

I started a day late but have been following the 30 day journey. I have practiced yoga before but got out of the habit. It's a great supplement to my workouts and I forget how calming it can be. Today will be my 20th consecutive day.

Just checking in with you. Have you heard anything about games for this year? I have seen a few pop up but many already cancelling for the year as well. I miss my kilted peeps.

Strength, muscle and functional mobility. I don't care about the number on the scale and weight loss isn't my goal but being active and strong...those are important to me. It is looking like another year without Highland Games so I will take this year as an opportunity to train and condition. Going to the gym (as long as…

I did weight watchers years ago and lost 65 pounds. I kept it off for 5 years. I gained some of the weight again because I stopped counting points. I came to MFP and lost the weight. I gained it back because I stopped tracking my calories and had to start over. I didn't find either WW or MFP easier. My best friend lost 83…

I am still here...just didn't post actively. This is how I did.. Caber: I will turn the caber in competition (my white whale...has happened in practice, not in competition). Since I can't practice this at home, I will do rock drills to build my explosive strength. (I have a competition on 9/19 - let's see what happens!)…

I'm not working on weight loss right now. I work with my Highland Games coach virtually three times a week (two one hour sessions and one 2 hour session). I meet with my weight training coach twice a week, an hour each time. I try to meet up with local throwers for about two hours once a week but that doesn't always happen.

#1 You're such a cute pregnant girl. (It was six months after I had my second son.)

Chicken fra diavlo. Brown chicken breasts in a skillet add: one can of hot rotel tomatoes one can tomato sauce 1/4 cup white wine Seasoning to taste (I add a dash of cayenne, salt, pepper, and garlic) Simmer the chicken until it is tender and cooked through. Hint: I like to cook my steamed zoodles into a small amount of…

Ok, finally back to normal life. Storm duty is complete and my son has returned to college. I will be back on track now. I am sorry I lost track of all your amazing accomplishments. I will be better, I promise.

We had a bbq and fire tonight. My physical activity was a tense game of backyard Jenga.

Here we go-one week check in. I spent three days doing power restoration so I didn’t hit all my goals but still accomplished some great things. Starting weight 210.6, current weight 210; down .6! This is incredibly hard to do during storm work because we work 17 hour shifts and eat crap takeout for every meal. I was only…

I love this! How are you feeling? Are your walks getting easier as you progress?

I may be absent for a little while. I work for the power utility. We got hit by the hurricane. Our company has 400,000 customers without power. I will be working storm rotation for the foreseeable future.

I took a break from throw training today. I did yoga this morning and Body Groove this evening. I’m on track to meet my goals.

I took your challenge to heart and practiced hammer throw today! https://youtu.be/j84HBF4rkgo

Not YouTube but I did Groove Body on demand. It was a fun way to work up a sweat.

The Scottish Highland Games are soooo fun. It’s basically a series of strong (wo)man competitions in a kilt. If you want to know even more about it, you can watch a documentary on Netflix. There is a series called “Home Game”. The second episode is about the Highland Games.

I got out and practiced today despite the heat. I cleared 18 feet in sheaf consistently tonight. That’s a new PR for me. 17’ was my previous best. My PR for weight over bar, also called weight for height is 11’. Today I tried 12’ and came soooo close. https://youtu.be/vPlafm7cgD4 https://youtu.be/vpEBlgS_CiQ

Grilled chicken, avocado, and berry salad.

This is only my second year of competition so I am very new to the sport. I don't expect much change in my body composition. I will still do that part of it as well. I'll post my starting weight and measurements on the first. I will improve my competition stats by practicing each event at least three times per week and…

Grilled steak over spinach, avocado, strawberry and red onion.

I am interested in a personal physical goal but it has nothing to do with my weight or measurements. I want to work on my Highland Games heights and distances in preparation for a competition 9/19. Can I still participate? Do I still weigh and take measurements?

This sounds more like a nutritional issue. Have you spoken with your doctor to have a metabolic panel?

I find that every one of my friends who try these types of things end up stopping because of cost and lack of results. They do well at first but that’s because they are excited about it. They eat better and move more. They stop with the healthy habits and their progress stalls. This tells me that they are all just…

It sounds like you have done this before with success. What made you stop? I’m prediabetic. I tried a high protein/ high fat/ low carb diet for a short time and found that I didn’t have energy. I’ve kept my numbers in the acceptable range for 16 years eating a balanced macro diet. Good luck to you.
-
I just say I’ve already eaten. Would you feel guilty for turning down alcohol when you know you have to drive? If someone offered you drugs and you said no...would you feel bad? You’re just trying to be healthy and take care of yourself. There is no shame in that.

I do this often, sometimes even tracking a few days ahead. It helps me balance my macros. I adjust my daily menu to get as close to my macros as I can for training purposes.
