MFP only takes into account your weight loss goal and lifestyle when calculating the calorie amount, it ignores your exercise. This is because it expects you to eat ALL of your exercise calories back. Your calorie goal is based on you doing nothing other than dieting, so any exercise calories are a bonus. I ignored MFP's…

I like to make big batches of things and freeze them. This week I've had a chicken noodle stir fry with loads of veggies, soup, rice with ham and veggies. Today I made a wrap though, I used half a southern fried chicken breast steak with salad and a small amount of sweet chilli dipping sauce. You could also microwave a…

Yep can't wait. Been missing the football since the season ended. Actually my team have barely played football since Christmas, so I'm desperate to see a good game. Then again I'm supporting England so need to pick a better team to follow too :ohwell:

Your body needs a certain amount of calories just to survive. Just sleeping you are burning calories. If you don't give yourself enough fuel to keep your vital organs healthy you'll have health problems down the line. That's where the generic 1200 calories comes in, but the bigger you are the more calories your organs need…

I've got to say, this does sound like an eating disorder. Apart from going to see a professional about it, the best advice I can give is to eat 2000 calories a day and DO NOT weigh yourself for at least 2 months (preferably longer). Doing this, you will put some weight back on initially but as your body gets used to eating…

I keep joining these threads then stop after 2 or 3 days. Think I'll join this one and start tonight. I have done 30DS before and I'm also starting to hate Jillian Michaels, but the results are worth it. I'll be using 2kg weights and going to attempt to do every day except Wednesday as that's my Zumba day.

I've decided mine must be on a beach somewhere hot waiting for me to join them  cos I certainly haven't seen them for quite a while.

You know, I eat beans regularly and never thought to check the sugar, I've just heard people say it. I ignore anything other calories when "dieting" as it becomes too much of a chore for me. However, I'm very fussy when it comes to beans, it has to be Branston or Heinz, I won't buy any others. I agree on people who haven't…

Wow I thought I was a fussy eater  . I think you are restricting yourself to too small a selection of food and will struggle to keep it up. I think you could do with upping the calories as a slower weight loss is more sustainable and easier to transition into maintenance. Also, your body needs a certain number of…

I guess it depends on how often you go to the cinema. For me I go so rarely (maybe once a year) that I will have a big bag of M&Ms and not feel guilty, but if it's a regular occurrence, then maybe a small bag of something. Take it with you and check the calories before you go and fit it in to your weekly calories if it's…

Haha that's what I have been doing, but I'm running out of dinner ideas because I'm having them for lunch  . I'm also stuck in a bit of a rut because I always make the same things and I'm getting bored of them now.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that site. Hopefully I find something I can make in a large batch and freeze.

It's cold up here in Geordieland :(

I find this whole discussion very interesting. I'm in the UK and it's not the norm here to get free refills, I can only name 2 or 3 places that do it and I have been to only one of them in the past 12 months. I think the problem is more to do with the sheer amount of food people are consuming rather than the "perk" of…

If I was to pick a trainer, it would be Jessie Pavelka or Commando from Australian Biggest Loser. But celeb wise it would have to be Shemar Moore

I've been meaning to start this again so I'm in. Just a tip for all those who have never done this before. It is hard to start with but it does get easier, plus it's only 25 minutes long. I found that my weight loss was faster in the first couple of weeks but slowed after that, but I lost plenty of inches and my clothes…

Your height and weight are almost identical to mine (within a few lbs) and I eat 1500 with no exercise. On days I exercise I eat back as many of the calories burned as possible. E.g. I burn an average of 600cals doing zumba, so on those days I try to snack in the afternoon to up my calories and give me energy to exercise,…

MFP suggests 1200 for me, but I ignored that and changed the settings to 1500. I just can't function on less than 1500 most days. But I got to that number by trial and error. I read everything, I ate different amounts and weighed myself twice a day (I'm not advocating this, it can be dangerous, I just did it to see how my…

The best advice I can give is to just move on. Think about why it happened: 1. Depriving yourself by eating too little in your diet 2. Thinking of it as a diet rather than a lifestyle change 3. Depressed/Happy - are your eating habits tied to your emotions? etc Try to work on the reasons why it happened and avoid those…

I'm no expert here, but I think you're eating the right amount of calories. Weight gain can be slow if you're eating healthily, so there's no need to worry there. Just concentrate on feeling healthy and the rest will follow. I didn't see anything wrong with the walking, but as I said I'm no expert so maybe others with…

Wow I can't believe anyone would tip a dentist. I always believed that tipping was reserved for services rendered that are not adequately salaried. If someone earns 4 or 5 times what I earn, then I'm not about to give them more of my hard earned cash just to do the job they are already paid for. I only tip what I can…

Umm okay, I know of several foster carers who are decent people. Yes there are some unfortunate ones, but I truly believe that a child that is 324lb at the age of 11 is safer in foster care. To be that size so young, means certain early death. To be taken into foster care and taught how to be healthier, is a much better…

I read a similar article to this that said one of the children that had been removed was 23st 2lb (324lb) and was under 11. This in my mind is cruelty. The parent can't blame poverty or anyone but themselves. If a child is a bit podgy then I see no problem, but for an 11 year old to get to 324lb, the parents have gone…

Well said. I too believe it is the parent's inability to follow through with punishments that has more baring on a child's behaviour. As a child, if my mam took away a privilege for a week, no amount of begging or pleading could change that punishment. My dad's idea of punishment when I was teenager, was that I had to…
-
I believe this is personal choice and no amount of studies or arguments will change my mind. If a child does something seriously wrong, then I see nothing wrong with a quick smack. If smacking is your only form of punishment, then you have no control over the child and they will play up more. If you use it only in extreme…

Ok, so I sympathise about not liking fruit or veg, I hate most veg and can tolerate some fruit. So, I find a way around it. I have smoothies with banana, strawberries, blueberries (or other berries), low fat yoghurt or milk and some honey to sweeten. If you like apples, then use apples with a few different types of berries…

I'm from not so sunny Gateshead. Feel free to add me.

I'm with you on that one, Jessie is hot. My mam once said she would run up a mountain if Jessie was following her haha.

I'm in the UK and I've never missed an episode. I also hate that they changed the format from 7 days to 3, but I do like how they send the supersizer to the US to meet someone who is much bigger and has serious complications, it just really shocks them. I've always failed to understand how some people "don't understand"…

I'm on my third stint of the 30 day shred. I don't do any extra exercises, just my usual weekly zumba class. Last time I made it to 20 days straight (this time I'm only doing 5 days a week) and I lost about 10lb and lost several inches all over. Christmas came along and undid all of my good work, so I've started again. If…
