You will have a much better gauge at the end of the C25K program as everyone is different. I know I could run for 30 mins no problem, but it was only about 2.5 miles, way short of 3.1. It took me another month to hit 5k at a blistering 38 min mark. Since then I have trimmed my time down to 34 min, and actually have started…

I use the same calories burned average as running, approximately 100/110 calories per mile. An hour on the elliptical my HRM always gives me about a 600-700 calorie burn, the machine always states somewhere in the 100 calorie per mile range, and MFP gives a ridiculous 1200 calorie burn.

Took me about 12-13 weeks to complete the C25K 9 week program due to terrible shin splints. The best things I did to continue running injury free was to make sure to get a run analysis and fitted at a running store with correct shoes, make sure you learn some stretches for after running, ensure total healing before pushing…

I guess I never realized that the weights did include shells...hmmm. The more I think about it though, they served a pound at a time in a Corona bucket, and I did have at least 5 buckets brought...but it probably was only about 48 oz. minus the shells.

I LOVE steak, eat it at least once a week but I am not sure I could eat 35 oz of any meat be it beef, pork, or chicken. I have however eaten about 64 oz. of all you can eat snow crab at a place near my house. It helped that I didn't use any butter, and I had 3 Dos Equis while eating them. Yep...my claim to fame.

and multiply infinity times 1,000.... I would also include waiting to start running (walking is fine) until you get the correct shoes. Without its not IF you are going to get injuries, its just how fast will it happen....trust me on this.

Wow.....just goes to show that everyone's caloric requirements are different. I work out every day either lifting and doing various cardio including running about 12 miles a week and if I was eating 3000 calories a day would gain weight so fast it would amaze people. Of course I am a fat guy trying to lose, and you have…

As a product of the 80's, I am a big fan of hair metal although I listen to just about anything nowadays except rap. When working out I do listen to Pandora set to Motley Crue radio..lol. Send a friend request.

I have been meaning to try the rower as my alternative days to running, and this article may have just prompted me to start.

Forge of Empires is pretty damn addicting

If I were Phil, I would hire the ACLU and file a lawsuit of being unjustly fired from my job for my religious beliefs.....

Well that makes sense. Thanks for the information. Never would have thought of elevated cortisol levels.

Honestly I don't know the answer to that but I am starting to formulate my own opinions. In the last 40 years I have very, very rarely been sick. I worked twenty years, 10-12 hours a day in a factory setting and had taken only 5 personal days. And of of those 5 days, really only 3 were due to sickness, 2 were just 'sick…

I felt bad about being sick for the virtual 5k, so feeling better today I ran my 5k after work today. Although this was not my best 5k time by any means, it felt good to complete it. Time was 37:00 flat. AHTH !
-
Still not healthy enough to go to the gym today, damn flu just wont go away....HOWEVER I did run 5k on what turned out to be my last 'healthy' day, Monday Dec. 9th. Sorry but its the best I could do. Time was 36.45

Agree with suggestions for a gift card to a bow shop. Most also carry a lot of the latest and greatest weather-proof scent-lok clothing as well so make sure the gift card or certificate is enough for him to get a new bow, and maybe some new cameo clothes, or new arrows with nice broadheads for them. I would be pretty damn…

not sure if srs ? My shins started hurting just reading this

New Balance V3 860's. Plenty of support for a fat guy like me

Then you have missed out on one of the best things about lifting.....just kidding -kind of. For most people DOMS is a fact for the first few workouts, and it can suck big time. After you continue with your program it will happen less and less. Then occasionally you will feel DOMS only after really pushing yourself in a…

ha..I felt the same way. I did add some extra assistance work in for the first few weeks, and I was running 3 miles in my 'off' days. Well those days are no more. It takes my off days to recover, and sometimes honestly it doesn't feel like I am ready when the next workout comes along. I also had to up my calories. I was…

In an Aldis food store in Milwaukee, there were black widow spiders living in bags of apples. Not gross but kinda freaky. And to echo an above poster, I have grabbed what I thought was my bottle of beer, took a swig and realized it had ash and cigarette butts..ugh. That totally sucked

You would do the 4th and 5th sets with as many reps as you can do. Many times I have hit 5 reps in my 4th set even after failing in the third set. In any event this would be a stall and you would continue with that exact weight on the next particular workout. Three stalls is a 10% deload
-
In for the bump.....less than two weeks away. I hope everyone is still in for this !
-
You so rock, and you already know that I claim you as a main reason why I started compound lifting !! Lift heavy gurl !!!
-
Before you stall the third time and have to deload, give yourself two complete days of rest from your last workout. Helped me through my stall in the OHP. eta...love the 'cookies' reference.
-
uh...well...I.....hmmmm. :indifferent: Oh I own my workouts. When I know my form sucks, as it will for everyone at some point in their progress, I either fix my form or if I cant fix it, I consider it a stall I was just talking about what I consider a more difficult level of lift. I think power cleans are an intermediate…
-
I've heard its not that bad, but as someone who still after 9 weeks on SL still has form issues on occasion with heavy *kitten* weights, I can't even imagine doing cleans with good form when the weights start getting heavy

You are not going to build muscle on a calorie deficit. You have to eat at a big calorie surplus and workout pretty heavily to gain lean body mass (muscle). It seems like you are more interested in preserving the LBM you already while continuing to lose fat. A simple compound routine will achieve that for you. Do you have…

I definitely don't worship him, but I absolutely love the program. Like him or not, makes no difference to me. I do agree however that all people should use one of the main compound lifting routines to start, or get back into lifting. I think they should follow it till the end of their progressions and THEN they will have…

Both programs are effective. Personally at over 40 years old I have zero desire to work 'cleans' into my workout so I went with SL. Also Rippetoe and Mehdi formed both programs from Reg Park who is considered the originator of compound workout routines.
