I think I am just talking to myself here, but maybe someone someday will have these same questions, so I will update again. I moved the band to my arm today. I had the same results as yesterday (when it was on my leg, just below the knee). HRM says 321 calories with 15 minutes in zones, BMF says 130 and only 1 minute of…

I just started this on Wednesday. I've done it three days in a row: Diamond Dozen on Wed and Energy on Thursday and Friday. I've never done any kind of exercise three days in a row. This morning I was debating whether I should do it again or not. I wanted to, but I didn't want to hurt myself, but ultimately, I really…

Today I remembered to start a workout. I was sweating like crazy and the HRM said 328 calories, but the BMF only said 138 and only gave me credit for 2 minutes of activity. I wear it on my leg, though. Tomorrow I will move it to my arm just for the workout and see if it registers any differently.

I make a cappuccino in the morning and use half a cup of milk and one pump of Amoretti coffee syrup. A pump of the syrup is 70 cals. You could always do half a pump, but I don't mind spending the extra calories on the full pump.

Upthread, I mentioned that I had ordered DDP Yoga, but hadn't received it. I finally received it and just did the introductory workout. It uses dynamic resistance to offer both strength training and cardio. I burned 328 calories in 35 minutes (per my HRM), no equipment required. I am total newbie to any kind of exercise. I…

Congrats. You look great!

I just ordered DDP yoga. I'm still waiting for it to come, though, I tried some of the videos on their site and it seemed pretty effective. No equipment required and it doesn't put stress on the joints.

I looked at other products because the armband is really uncomfortable for me, but I couldn't find anything that was suitable. I ended up moving it to my leg, right below my knee. It still seems to be pretty accurate and it doesn't bother me the way it did on my arm, and no one has to see it. I never wear shorts, so it's…

Ah, okay. I thought maybe there was something other than steroids, which I definitely don't want or need.

I was wearing a blazer as a shirt and I thought I was looking fine because everyone was turning their heads to watch me walk by. I went into a restaurant and sat down and noticed the waiter was blushing. I knew I wasn't looking THAT fine. Turned out the blazer had shifted and my boob was hanging out. (Fortunately I was…

I've been wearing it this way for about a week. I think it reads a little higher. It also tends to register more vigorous activity. I have adjusted my deficit to 1250 to compensate for the higher burn. We'll see if that works. One problem with this is that it thinks I am sleeping when I'm not. I guess because when I sit…

Amazing, You're gorgeous (both before and after) and you look awesome.

It's still unhealthy. It is the mindset that leads to people feeling like they "blew" their diet because of one donut and then going on a binge since they "already failed."
-
I'd just eat the donut, log it, and deal with it. Today is my sister's birthday. I'm not stressing about the cake. I looked up the calories this morning, pre-logged it, planned the rest of my day around it, and will enjoy it when it is time.

Thanks for the info. It looks like TRX has two door anchor options. One looks like a metal bar thing that screws into the door frame and the other is some kind of bean bag thing that you close the door on to. I'd probably go with the bean bag thing, since it wouldn't do damage.

As some others have said, these water calculations, including the 8x8, are not really based in science. Just stay hydrated. If your urine is dark or you are retaining water, drink more water. If your urine is almost completely clear, you should probably drink a little less water. If your urine is a pale yellow color, then…

"You have a beautiful mouth, it would look great sucking my...." (Yes, someone really said this to me.)

I'll make an appointment with my doctor before changing anything. I also have all the symptoms of Hashimoto's, so maybe a thyroid issue is the problem.

I use it to make smoothies and they are delicious. I put in pb2, flax seed, raw honey, and almond milk.

I don't understand why people are saying my deficit is too large. That is a loss of 2 lbs a week, which is pretty standard. I eat anywhere from 1600 - 1800 calories a day. I have 260 pounds total to lose (well, 190 lbs now that I have lost 70 of it). It doesn't make sense to cut back to only 1 lb a week.
-
I aim for a 1000 calorie deficit. Sometimes I go over and sometimes I go under. My average tends to be around 1100. I don't do low fat at all. I average 46% fat, 39% carbs, and 15% protein. I think my goal is 50/30/20, but I don't really concern myself with that too much. I just make an effort to get as much fat as I can,…

I just threw this together really quickly with some dummy data. I am tracking other stuff, but it's pretty customized. This just takes the previous days data, calculates the deficit and uses it to project what today's weight should be. It's never, ever accurate, but at least it gives me an idea where I should be. Each…

I'm not particularly low carb, but I do prefer more fat and I can't eat gluten. My new favorite thing is to take two thin slices of spam, pan fry them until they are nice and crispy and then spread a layer of cream cheese between them. Sometimes I do it as a meal with a salad or some fruit and sometimes I do it as a snack.…

Counting macros won't have any impact on weight loss, unless you happen to end up with a caloric deficit from doing it, which is certainly possible, but not necessarily always the case. For weight loss, calories are all that matter. For body composition, health, fitness, energy, mood, etc, than macros can matter, but I…

For me, BMF is more accurate. MFP overestimates my burn by about 300 calories a day. I let MFP set my calories goals and then turned on negative calorie adjustment. That allowed MFP and BMF to sync up and have similar numbers.
-
You look amazing AND your stomach looks great, too! Congrats.
-
Congrats on getting past your plateau. My BodyMedia armband seems pretty accurate. I can't use MFP's calculations, because it is about 300 calories a day too high, which adds up to about 2/3 of a pound a week that I would not be losing.
-
What do you have for breakfast? If I eat cereal, hot or cold, then I get hungry again really quickly. If I eat something high in fat and protein, like an omelette with cheese and bacon, that will sustain me until lunch.
-
You're right, it is Garmin.
-
If you have a polar hrm, you can link it to your bodymedia account and the infor gets pulled into your dashboard. I don't know if it has any effect on BM's calorie calculation, though.
