I lost a lot of weight. So for me, normal biking *is* an extreme sport. So is running. I use my GoPro to record my activities frequently. Maybe I'm not jumping off a cliff, but for a guy who used to be 419 pounds, biking for 40km or running for 10km is something I'd like to keep for posterity.

I've enjoyed both the Mio Alpha and the Mio Link optical wrist HRMs (paired with my iPhone and with various Garmin watches, respectively), and have had some success with the HRM-Run electro-magnetic chest belt for advanced running dynamics (paired with Garmin 920xt watch). I've only ever used them during running or cycling…

264 pounds lost since June 2013

I totally get where you're coming from. I log every day and will be here for support--to give and receive. FR sent.

I started in this forum with all the ailments and complaints you mentioned. And more. Couldn't tie my shoes. If I dropped something on the ground it was almost impossible to pick up. Wore holes in my clothes quickly. Sweated while standing. Etc. Through a lot of help from my online and offline buddies I managed to get the…

I don't follow sports, so I'm not going to even watch the game. I don't think I could name either team playing.

I've been using mine since early December. Since I'm maintaining, I am happy to have a daily entry of my weight. I've got it synced to MFP and Garmin Connect, so all I have to do is step on the scale every morning, and by the time I'm in the shower, I'm updated across all my services. Just recently, though, MFP and Garmin…

Friend request sent. I'm trying to maintain myself after a large loss.

Honestly log it all, and continue onwards. You'll be able to look back on it as the rogue data point it is.

I've lost 264 pounds and have tons of loose skin. I personally don't care about it. I'd rather have loose skin and weigh 155 pounds than have full skin and weigh 419. You can see some before/after pics in my profile.

It is possible to lose the weight. If I can do it anyone can. My first post ever was in this forum -- very much like yours!

Tips: honestly diarize all food/drink. Weigh/measure food you do eat. Weigh yourself only once a week during weight loss phase. Cut out alcohol. Begin exercising when physically possible. Walking counts. Make friends here at MFP. Community helps. Check out my profile for more info. Frank

You may like the Garmin Forerunner 15. Waterproof to 50 meters, GPS for runs, has activity tracking for rest of day. Relatively inexpensive. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/into-sports/running/forerunner-15/prod145621.html

Great, heartfelt post. I totally get where you came from, and where you arrived. Your first post reminds me of my first post ever myself. Hard work and dedication can make anything possible, right?

Just thought I'd make a New Years update. January 3, 2015 Got up, weighed in at 151.8 pounds. Ran 12km before the snow started. http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/663570063 Life is good as a maintainer. If anyone thinks they can't do it, know that you can. If I could, so can you. Frank

I walked 10,000+ steps per day for a year before I even considered running. Walking counts as exercise. If you don't want to run, nobody says you have to!

I quit losing weight when I just stopped losing anymore. I'm eating and exercising the same, and have bottomed out at 155 pounds or so, after losing around 260 pounds or so. So even successful weight loss ends when the losing stops! Frank

I ended up with the Garmin Vivofit because of the battery life. 1 year. Plus it works alongside my other Garmin devices

I lost 264 pounds using MFP as my food diary. If I can do it, you can do it.

I have lost about 265 pounds. I feel like an utterly different person than the 419 pound man I started as. I'd say the biggest outward change is the way I am treated by strangers. I was used to people giving me reactions from disapproval to outright contempt whenever I entered a room. Now, I am just a background…

You can add me. I've had a lot of success using the tools available here at MFP. All things are possible if you put your mind to it.

I was 212.5 pounds when I started C25K. I now regularly run 10km
-
Here's my before/after: 419 pounds before, June 2013 160 pounds after, September 2014
-
I'm 5 foot 9 (175cm) and weigh 160.5 lbs
-
Congratulations. The c25k program really works!
-
OK, now I want to play your video game.

I started walking about a month into my weight loss. Didn't ramp up to running/cycling until a year later. Most of my weight loss came from proper eating and daily walking.
-
OK, my jaw literally fell open. Holy ******** dude! You're amazing!

17 is a success. Just treat every pound as a step towards your future.
