As my grandfather used to say: "where there's a will, there's a way." You can accomplish anything you set your mind to. You just have to latch onto it with determination, tenacity and commitment. There are a lot of tools available here for free: 1) a calorie counter (both on website and your phone) to record what you eat…

I have no religious faith. I do have faith in myself, and my ability to finish what I start. I have faith that I can change the way I eat to a healthier way. I have faith that I can improve my fitness level. "Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and…

Hi holboydr660: Welcome to MFP and the group. I've found that keeping a daily food record, and logging my exercises (just walking for now, since I'm 353 pounds and cannot run), has been invaluable to any success I've had. I started at 419 myself, was winded all the time, and in constant foot and ankle and knee pain. Still…

Try playing the music, then putting it in the background, and having Runtastic in the "front", maybe.
-
I've used Runtastic and "Zombies, Run!" at the same time with no problems. I've also used Runtastic and various audio players (built in music player, other dropbox-related streaming players) at the same time with no issue. However, sometimes, if runtastic doesn't get a good GPS fix, it auto-pauses at weird times. I try to…

I use AdBlock in Chrome, so I don't see any ads at all. The way I like it.

Somebody in my group used the analogy of a roll of paper towels. When you put a new roll on, you can start taking towels off the roll, and the diameter of the roll doesn't seem to reduce very fast. However, when you get to the middle of the roll, every towel removed starts to really show as the diameter of the roll…

Getting to a healthy weight is a process involving a change of lifestyle. If you continue the way you were, you will not change. So if you go back to the way you were after any success, you will gain the weight back. I suggest measuring and writing down everything you eat. There are apps to help with that--a free one for…

I weigh myself every Sunday morning.

Once a week, on Sunday mornings. Post bathroom visit, pre-breakfast. I also weigh myself wearing clothes and shoes.

WESTMORELAND: O that we now had here But one ten thousand of those men in England That do no work to-day! KING HENRY V: What's he that wishes so? My cousin Westmoreland? Hi: I'm glad you're starting again. The act of starting requires courage and determination. You can do anything you set your mind to--where there's a will, there's a way. You can add me as a friend and I'll offer support any way I can. FTW

People who spit in public. People who make that weird teeth-sucking sound to show disapproval. People who walk zombie-like down the sidewalk while staring at their mobile phone--usually while typing on it.

Here's how I connect my apps/devices. My HRM is connected to my Runtastic app. My fitbit is connected to my fitbit app. Runtastic is paired with MFP. Fitbit is paired with MFP. For exercises: During the day, fitbit just updates in the background, telling MFP how many calories it thinks I have burned just moving around.…

Nobody has said anything to me either. Too much to lose. Oh well, I can feel more energy, which is what really counts.

I'm with you. I can do without the gratuitous advice from everyone. Especially from people who haven't even tried to lose weight themselves.

I like the cut of your jib, sir.

Hi Mary: I had my epiphany on June 19, at a whopping 419 pounds. And I have made the commitment to turn myself around. I have as much to lose as you weigh. And I will do it. If you add me as a friend I will be there for you, day by day, offering encouragement as you need it. You can do anything you put your mind to. Where…

I'd like to play! Screen Name: ftw37 SW: 384.5 CGW: 352.5 (in 8 weeks)

Started June 23, 2013 at 419 pounds. Hit 384.5 lbs on July 27th. (34.5lb loss in 35 days) I have a bazillion more pounds to go, of course, but my first 30 was relatively quick. Probably since I am so insanely overweight.
