1. Be part of a community of like-minded people. MFP is ready made for you. Join one or more of the thriving subgroups in the forums and make some MFP friends. Seeing other people on the same course as you will help you along. You'll help by example, and be helped by example. 2. Be "out" with your goals. Tell your family,…

Fat comes off everything. Fingers. Ankles. Forearms. Butt. Everywhere.

Congrats on getting out of the 300s. Stick with it, and in no time, you'll be out of the 200s as well.

I absolutely love this photo! Shows exactly how much you've lost! And gained! Sincere congratulations on an amazing job well done.

Congratulations on an epic milestone!

Hey, anybody seen a ghost?

I've lost about 254 pounds. I ate between 1600 and 2000 calories per day. Walked a lot. Started with a fitbit, moved to Garmin ecosystem eventually. Now walk, run and cycle frequently. Lost my weight in a little over a year. Yes, feel a million times better. Check my profile for stats and relevant links. I have more energy…

Yes, I've seen Jim speak at least once at Harvry's class and I read the article about him in the newspaper. He is an inspiration of mine.

Back to normal for a while now, thank goodness

Some folks have chosen weight loss surgery as their option. That's a decision between them and their physicians. Personally, I chose to do it without surgery, since that was MY choice. To each his own.

I will "like" completed diaries, exercises, logging milestones and weigh-ins. Will comment on epic logging milestones, weigh-ins, exercises and total weight loss milestones. Will comment on comments, blog posts, etc., if in my wheelhouse. Will comment on forum posts as appropriate.

Many people have asked "what's your secret?" as if there is some magic easy answer. I say "I record everything I eat, weigh and measure my food to make sure of portions, eat around 2000 calories a day, and I exercise." Some people can't believe that it works--they seem to be looking for an easier answer. Others get…

Congratulations on a hard task accomplished!

My vote is for once a week. Smooths out any daily fluctuations, allows you to focus on overall trend.

I've got loose skin on my chest, stomach and legs--some on my arms too. It's a fair trade-off for a 250 pound loss. As I slowly introduce resistance training I'll get it to a minimum.

Left: 419 lbs, 56 inch waist --- Right: 169 lbs, 32 inch waist

I started at 419 pounds. My first week I lost 10 pounds. There's a spreadsheet link in my profile showing various stats.

Thanks very much. The stand ups were done intentionally at my weight loss group. It is run by a man named Harvey Brooker here in Toronto. He runs a weight loss group for men only, with a huge focus on empowerment as well as nutrition. There are quotes all over the walls at his classroom. Online I had the help of my…

Lol. Running tights.

Excellent work

The body does change faster than the mind, for sure. I've heard it can take years to adjust the mental image.
-
Congratulations! Very few people have what it takes to accomplish that feat. Hats off to you.

I've got lots of loose skin. Doesn't bother me: I'll trade loose skin for a new lease on life.

I started at 419 pounds, down to 169 pounds. 56 inch waist to 32 inch waist. Check my profile for stats and other links.

I'm with you re: excuses. We can *choose* our actions. My choices made me morbidly obese. My choices made me lose weight. I'm utterly responsible for my failures. I am equally responsible for my successes. I have no excuses for either. Today I cycled for 34km but didn't get my 15000 steps Garmin wants me to get today. So I…

I'm going to keep using MFP for the foreseeable future. Logging my food has helped me lose weight, for sure.

Excellent decision. I quit in April, 2003, after smoking for more than a decade. I had the help of a drug called "Zyban." I also assuaged my withdrawal irritation by playing violent video games. Both helped a lot. You can do it.

Love your username!

Actually, in my case, I feel I have gone from visible to invisible. As a 419 pound fat man, people visibly reacted with disgust whenever I walked into a room. Now I've lost weight, I am passed over as a "normal" person. I am invisible, in the background. Nobody reacts to me at all. IT'S GREAT! FTW

I *hate* being called "big guy". But as I lose weight I've been getting it less and less. I actually look forward to being pointed out as "that old guy over there" or "that guy over there in the sneakers" or even "that ugly guy." Better than "big guy." Frank
