  • I won't be able to get to it until tonight, but I am excited to get started. Does anyone want to suggest some add-on cardio movements for those that want to stretch the workout a bit longer than 20 minutes? Hope I am not jumping the gun...
  • I'm a 40 year old male with a sedentary desk job. I weigh 196 lbs last time I checked and would like to get down to the 175 range which would be within the acceptable band for my height of 5' 10''. I had quadruple bypass surgery almost two months ago, so naturally I need to make a lifestyle change. I look forward to…
  • Personal Training with Jackie: Power Circuit Training This is some weight lifting combined with body weight exercises.
  • You can start with the NerdFitness beginner's bodyweight workout: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/
  • Protein is protein. It's true that isolates have a higher concentration of protein per weight and generally less fat and calories as well so it is 'better' in that way. Still the older concentrates did fine for plenty of bodybuilders in the past. If you're not looking to tune your macros down to the last gram, the cheaper…
  • Try the one with Chris Freytag in it. Not quite as frantic as say Insanity.
  • I'm a guy. I'm going to do that Jillian Michaels Slimdown that commences in July (tomorrow). Come and join us. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/14987-jillian-s-30-day-slimdown-july-2013
  • There are lots of free workouts, even 'programs' on Youtube and the internet in general like bodybuilding.com. If you really want it on DVD, there's the Weider X-Factor ST set that sells for about $40. I've thought about picking it up in a few months, but I really have plenty to keep busy with right now.
  • They were a close out item, hence why they were sold at such a cut rate at places like Big Lots. The set isn't manufactured any more, so online from Amazon or Ebay is the only avenue left unless you run across an old set here and there. I have a set purchased off Ebay for $24 shipped. I plan to start it in August. It looks…
  • As a general question, what is the advantage to doing this over a regular 30 day shred rotation? More variety?
  • Sounds like fun. Just checked out No More Trouble Zones from my library. I already had the other two.
  • FitnessBlender BeFit JessicaSmithTV The ZWow workouts are intense too - don't remember the channel name off the top of my head.
  • Hate to get all preachy, but please don't steal as some posters have suggested. There are free alternatives such as the various HIIT and tabata style workouts on Youtube if you don't want to invest your hard earned $ into Insanity. My two cents: if you can't do a pushup yet, I'd focus on following this (free) program:…
  • Leslie Sansone has those walking fitness dvds. She's fairly popular with people wanting a gentler workout.
  • Honestly, you should do some strengthening work too to have the best results long-term. I suggest following a program that has both strength and cardio elements. There are some free ones on Youtube like FitnessBlender or BeFit in 90. Supreme 90 is a discontinued DVD program still available at Amazon for forty bucks. I'm…
  • They also sell pdfs of official work out plans with an exact rotation of which videos to use over a calendar month through lulu.com. This helps support the husband and wife team as fitnessblender is their livelihood. If anyone likes their stuff and uses it regularly, I encourage you to buy a pdf to help them continue to…
  • I'm doing some rehab work right now at a hospital with a RN and a team of PT people. They make a habit of turning on the fans and ac for people on the treadmills and elliptical machines to keep things cool, and I asked them this exact same question. They said there was no real difference so you might as well be comfortable.
  • I do the workouts with my wife. :)
  • Jane Fonda and Kathy Smith were the big VHS aerobics trainers, right? I went on a DVD buying binge a couple of months ago on Amazon and I know their older stuff is also available in DVD.
  • Insanity is cardio primarily. You really won't put on muscle with it. It's great for losing fat if you can handle the plyometrics. If you want to gain good weight and musculature, I'd actually suggest seeing a personal trainer who can see you in person for at least a couple of sessions and then recommend a weight lifting…
  • Just like how they sound. You lay prone on your front on the floor or a mat. Then you raise your legs and arms from the ground like you are 'flying'. This works out your core muscles along with the arms and thighs. It's harder than it sounds especially if you've been doing a bunch of other exercises first.
  • I think diet is probably 70% of the equation to maintaining good health and losing weight (if needed). I would focus more attention towards that if you feel you have been neglecting this aspect. I want to get my exercise over quickly if there is no social aspect to it (such as playing a sport), so I try to pound out a DVD…
  • Jillian has a slightly longer (40 min) video that has plenty of KB moves in it called Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. You can watch it in its entirety on Youtube if you want to check it out before buying it. Of course there's always Tae Bo and you can scrounge up those dvds very easily.
  • I do the fat burning cardio workout every week or so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcN37TxBE_s
  • Just did some oblique crunches, planks, bicycles, squats, supermans, and pushups.
  • I just did Jillian's Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism which is a 40 minute long circuit workout. It's heavy on kickboxing moves if you like that. It's viewable in its entirety on Youtube if want to try it out for free, or even go the free route indefinitely. I'm planning to do Jari Love's Get Ripped dvd on my strength training…
