you should be keeping cadence the same whether going fast or slow- around 180 bpm. go slower by using less lean, and by taking shorter strides. this will naturally slow you down and produce less of an effort. for more speed, increase your lean (but don't sacrifice form- this is the hard part for me) and keep cadence the…

If you have calf pain then the form is still incorrect. From what I read, your feet should "peel up" from the pavement in a way- toes last- you practice this walking so you can do it running- and that causes your calves to stay much more relaxed. I love the suggestions on here, and would like to add one more- make MFP friends who have open food diaries, and see what they are eating to be successful in their calorie allotment. I get lots of good ideas from my friends' diaries and mine is open too :)

I noticed that my legs are less tired and with the forward lean going up hills is a lot easier! I have some lower back pain though, maybe I'm leaning too much!
