Depends on what you use. I love my fitbit and find it acceptable accurate. Obviously the only 100% accurate way would be to count your steps.

I like faster moving things. My workout mix has a lot of Dethklok and Dragon Force

I recommend P90x. It's a fantastic series. You can go high reps and lower weight for toning rather than bulking if that's what you want.

Insanity. No equipment needed. although the average video is about 45 minutes

I'd hold off for about two weeks before you start the gym. You want to let you body adjust to your new job. Work hardening (getting used to your job) can take up to a month. Adding too much too quick can dramatically increase your risk for injury. FYI I see a lot of work comp patients on a daily basis. My advice is…

That is a hard one to define. We have one at our physical therapy clinic. The best way to describe it is as a seated elliptical. Try punching your stats in here to get a good idea. Hope it helps http://www.fitclick.com/calories_burned?Fitness_Machines&cc=960&page=7

Seeing your regular doctor for an orthopedic issue is generally a fruitless endeavor. You should really see a sports med specialist *cough* *look over here* From reading your little description, I can say that you have plantar fasciitis. MRI would be a huge waste of time and money. Stretching is the key here. Calf…

To keep my from eating something instead of saying "I can't eat ______" I say "I don't eat____" It really helps me a ton. Usually for working out it's a string of mental expletives (Not going to say them, don't want to get banned HAHA)

I love my Fitbit Ultra (precursor to One). It has helped a ton with motivation. I love trying to beat my friends and get to the top of the leader board.

I love using my workout DVDs (Insanity, P90x2, P90x). The great part about these DVDs, is that you can get away with using exercise bands or body weight. Most of the time you do not need too much room. Although, I do have issues with my ceiling for some of the plyo workouts. It is easier to workout at home but it is easier…

I've been lactose intolerant for 10 years. I know that some walmarts carry lactose free yogurt. It's yoplait who makes it. to my knowledge there is vanilla, peach, strawberry, and one more flavor i think.

Don't be afraid to take mid set breaks when you are starting. Better to catch your breath than to pass out

10lbs/month is a great and reasonable goal. I see so many that want to lose 40lbs in a month...not possible unless you chop of a leg. The Jillian Michaels is a great way to start just like alstroemerial said. Another great way that is pretty easy on the knees is walking at a quicker pace for at least 30 minutes. I suggest…

Never heard it described as drying out a sponge. I've always had a hard time explaining that to my patients and athletes. It's fantastic!

My motivation comes through FItbit. I have several friends on there (most I met through here). I am very competitive and try to have more steps than they do. More step is more calories burned. Some time i get the steps through running other times it's through my Insanity DVDs. Other people I know love having a workout…

The most important do is to keep with it. The most important don't is don't give up. It will be rough at first but I promise it will get easier.

Looks ok from what I've seen. The five steps are nothing new or groundbreaking and follow the same general steps all credible workouts follow (although she changes the name like most DVD workouts do). Looks like it could be fun kind of like zumba. If it gets you motivated to get in shape and stay in shape, then it is the…

That's not an opinion. It's a fact that is well established through many peer reviewed scientific article. But what do I know with a BA in Health and Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training or my MS in Kinesiology...

Unfortunately I can't comment on your Mon, Wed, Fri routine too much because I don't know anything about those two programs. Length wise it sounds just fine (wish I could spare 90 minutes  ). The little reviews I found online sound like you are also doing a bit of strength training with this which is awesome! On…

There are worse things than tearing your meniscus. You can always do upper body cardio (arm bike) or you can even stationary bike as long as it is pain free through the entire range of motion. Recovery from this surgery is relatively quick at about 1 to 3 months depending on what they do exactly. If they just remove the…

Yes it is ok. But, you must sing in the rain.

Just like with any of the fitbit family you can sync it. The only catch is that it only really pulls in the calories burned and not the workout details. Same goes when syncing food from MFP to fitbit it only pulls in your category total (breakfast 400kcal for example).

Swimming or a pool workout is always a great low impact, high calorie burning activity. You can also try walking, biking, or elliptical training.

I wear a fitbit almost 100% of the time so by way of counting steps I guess I count my house work.

Looking at all the research static stretching prior to exercise is a no-no. I tell all my patients and clients no to static stretches before any exercise (excluding gymnastics and cheerleading where you do need that flexibility). Static stretches diminish strength about about 25% (depending on the study you read it varies…
