  • People do them in the rack and my gym, not all the time, but if the rack is open they do. I do mainly because that is where the barbells are, I mean I could move them, but then the rack is useless. We only have one extra barbell. My gym is rarely crowded though.
  • I did a trial class and really like it. I felt like I got a great workout. I haven't joined, but if I do, I will do 4 or 8 classes a month. I don't want to give up the other activities I do, but I do want a class. We have a deal through work that it wouldn't be too expensive per class - no more than any other class I have…
  • I do the meal prep on Sunday for lunch, this week I was lazy and bought a rotisserie chicken breast at the grocery store and have made wraps with that, spinach and tomato along with either Greek yogurt or an apple. For dinner, I cooked on Monday night and made enough for the rest of the week. So basically I eat the same…
  • I wish I didn't have to wash my hair everyday...unfortunately my thin, fine hair doesn't look good if I don't. I have tired the conditioner thing, just rinsing it, dry shampoo, nothing works. I am jealous of all the people that can get away with less washes.
  • I did Crossfit briefly to try it out, I liked it and the trainer was good about teaching form and watching form, I just didn't click with him and I didn't want to pay for it. I like to mix things up. After I tried it, my personal trainer tried it. He fell in love with it. He now owns a box. If he wouldn't have moved to a…
  • My spending is more in fitness, but weigh loss did force the new clothes and new bras. I had to get some rings re-sized. I don't even want to think about the amount I have spent on fitness. Trainer, gym membership , clothes, race entries, shoes, etc. All of it I consider money well spent
  • I shampoo daily, my hair is still oily. My hairdresser has never said a word about it. I have tried dry shampoo, still looks like I haven't showered and my hair looks greasy. I sweat a lot, I get that water would get the sweat out, but I also use hairspray...water and hairspray don't look so good :D
  • EZ bar in my gym is 20#, I had to step on the scale to figure it out. People told me 30#, but didn't feel right
  • I was the fat girl for a long time, now I am just the overweight girl. I started with a personal trainer and it helped a lot, but I went in and did the free weights all on my own several times a week too. It wasn't always easy, but I kept going and now I am the girl in the weight room all the time. There was no reason to…
  • That sounds awesome compared to the dusty stairwell I have done it in!
  • I agree that there is generally not a lot of real estate, but the one I belong to has a ton. It originally had very little then moved to a larger location and didn't add new equipment, now we have a ton of space....down and back walking lunges are a lot more work than they used to be.
  • I have been a member at Anytime Fitness for several years, my home gym has everything, barbells, dumbbells, cable system. I have been to 6or 8 other locations and I have never been to one without barbells and dumbbells.
  • I would think a month or two. I started with a trainer and saw him once a week, but he knew if I was there other times. After about 3-4 months, I would start getting restless if I missed more than one day in a row. I am 7 years into a very consistent workout routine, generally I still look forward to it, but occasionally I…
  • I don't run due to a hip surgery and I don't enjoy it so I can't answer that. I will bike and swim and do HIIT training, climbing the stairs is just different. One of the girls who does it with my does the stair climber at her gym to train, but she still has the same lung problem that I do. I personally think you will be…
  • I think your legs are going to fine. The ones I did is 900+ steps and I didn't do any special training, but I do some HIIT regularly. Just keep hill walking and get your lung capacity up. After the event, you hear a lot of people coughing. The only other workout I can compare the feeling in my lungs to was when I did 7…
  • I found that if I tried working out at home, I ended up sitting on the couch watching TV. I don't have room for much anyway, so I joined the gym.
  • This did not work for me, I did a 40 floor stair climb which was around 900 stairs. We did a 30 stair climb up and down a bunch...the down really gave us too much break. I didn't find any stairs to work on, but for next year I found somewhere with 200+ stairs. I think I will practice on that. My problem was not my legs,…
  • I had to take a friend with me when I was losing weight. We would go in a store and we would grab a few things, then I never left the dressing room, she just brought me stuff to try on. I tried on and bought stuff I would have never looked at if I was picking out the clothes.
  • My grandma used to make pork roast with roasted potatoes, the potatoes were roasted in the same pan with the pork, so they used pork fat. The potatoes were put in part way through the cooking. They were delicious. Not duck fat, but very yummy.
  • I came up with my goal weight with my trainer and then I was at the doctor and she asked me what my goal weight was, she calculated a higher number for me and told me that the BMI #s were not always right. I do love my doctor
  • I started losing weight before going in for an annual physical and I was down 19# from the year before. I think she had told me to lose weight for the past 10 years and I said I would, so when she looked at my weight, she got a real concerned look on her face and asked me if I was trying to lose weight. When I said yes,…
  • I am sure you still inspire them. I am not young by any means, but I have some ladies in my classes that are 60+ that can make everyone look bad. I want to be just like them :) I kinda like when people underestimate me though too. It's fun to see the reaction.
  • There is a guy in my gym that occasionally dances some, he is totally into his music and happy as could be. It makes me smile every time! He sings sometimes too, not bad since its not constant. My pet peeve is not re-racking the weights correctly and having the 25#s with the 35#s or something....I re-arrange them all to be…
  • Walking my dog, he gets actual walks instead of just going outside....and pretty much everything else in life
  • I have turned down invites to happy hours and gone to workout, but generally that is because I don't want to go to the happy hour. Or I have gone to happy, drank water and then gone to workout. I have turned down going out when I have a race of some sort to go to in the morning...mostly only the one triathlon I do every…
  • I used to buy myself new music when I lost weight, then I did the dollar in a jar for every workout I did. I can't think of anything that didn't cost any money. The money in the jar was more just to make me save money for new clothes...I may need to start that again.
  • I had mine checked and started taking B12 in a pill form, it did nothing for my levels, so I did shots. This did the trick, but I was not good about going to get the shots regularly. Someone told me to try the sublingual and it has be back to a healthy range.
  • Looks like you did well for not being prepared. I have one in a couple of weeks that I don't feel as prepared for as I would like...I know I can finish, but not finishing last in my age group is the goal and beating my brother, who is also not as prepared as he would like to be.
  • I had mine out about 6 years ago, I never had any issues (at least that I knew of) prior to the trip to the emergency room when it felt like someone was stabbing me. Had it taken out laproscopically the next day. Was out of work for about a week and haven't had any problems since. I eat ice cream, red meat and spicy food…
  • I buy jeans that have stretch in them. My favorite pair of jeans right now is INC. at Macys. The ones I buy aren't loose fitting, but they have multiple different styles and I have to try on multiple pairs to find the right ones. They do stretch out a lot though. I used to love my Gap jeans, but they don't fit right…
