Everyone is right...you need to fix your eating first...however... I think a personal trainer could be helpful. When I first started working out, I had no idea how to do a lot of the exercises...didn't know how to do them properly...had bad form. I hired a personal trainer for a few weeks and he helped me tremendously. He…

Try "you are your own gym". There's a book for it and even an app. It's all body weight exercises and its an excellent workout. A set of 5lb weights wont be enough for NROLFW (maybe the first week or two but thats it)...I've done the program and you will most likely start off with more than 5lbs. (I don't do it anymore…

Good job on today's routine :-)

Yay!!! So happy to have you guys!!!
-
Welcome @snookey16!!! So glad to have you. Please don't be afraid to ask any question you like! And don't worry if you struggle a little with the workout...we all started somewhere and we've all struggled with the same poses.

People say its harder because your metabolism starts to slow down later in life...as well as medical issues that arise from age and years of abuse (not saying that you did that, but in general). It is not wholly just calories in vs. calories out...there are so many other factors involved that there is no way to generalize…

@namaste622 So glad to have you  and slightly jealous, too lol. I would LOVE to practice yoga on the beaches of Koh Samui!!!

Sent out invitations to the ones who were interested :D If you dont get one or would like me to send you one, let me know :)

Welcome everyone! Today is March 1st so I thought we could get this challenge started. Some of you suggested a group so I have created a group here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/104030-30-days-of-yoga Please feel free to join the group or I will be happy to invite you. Just let me know! I will post the first…

Cigarettes are notorious for appetite suppression. That is why a lot of people gain weight when they quit smoking. I quit about 8 years ago and used exercise to help curb the cravings rather than food. I've known others who use candy or food as a substitute for the smoking. Those who did that usually gained weight. It's…

Awesome! So glad to have you guys with us!! And it's ok if you are ahead or behind...yoga is all about your practice...so no worries (or pressure) there :). I will make sure that I'm available if you guys have any questions, too.

The treadmill is better for burning calories...but they work different muscles (you can easily check it out even though it may not be as accurate as a heart rate monitor - just punch in the numbers on myfitnesspal in the exercise section using the same amount of time). Of course, it's also what you put into it. Why not…

Welcome everyone! I was worried that no one would join me  Here's what I think we should do for the challenge: I will start a new thread called something like "The March 30 days of Yoga challenge". Each day, starting March 1st, I will post the youtube video for the day. You can post every day on your progress or at…

I like to eat apples in the morning. The crunch wakes me up and the nutrition gives me energy.

I want a Manduka (high end) but can afford Giam (which are decent mid range mats). If you're new go with the 5mm. It'll give you a little more cushion on body parts that need it. Just remember, mandukas are heavy - something to think about when having to tote one around. The cheap mats at Walmart (Like $8) aren't worth…

I've used both (and a few others, too)...and have found myself always returning to MFP. I started on here when it was just a plain webpage. I really like the simplicity of it...all the other bells and whistles gets in the way.
-
I've been here off and on for about 10 years...this is my 3rd username lol. I'm still learning...and hope to continue learning too. Welcome to MFP :-)

Hot yoga is awesome! I'd love to teach it (I teach vinyasa yoga) but there's no facility around me to do it with. Make sure you bring a towel and lightweight, comfortable clothes. You will be sweating...a lot. Also, don't forget to cool your body down a little before stepping outside if you are in a wintery area. You can…

I love that app! I really like "gathering" things on my missions and building my base. It gives running a fun, new purpose. I have all of season two but haven't played through them yet. I keep going back to my NikePlus app because sometimes, I just dont feel like being chased by zombies lol

I currently teach Pilates and have also done the 30 day shred. Both are great workouts but each one works differently than the other. Pilates deals mostly with body weight exercises, flexibility and strength training. Its low impact, floor workouts that use your body weight for resistance and is designed to produce long,…

I have started over so many times I cannot count. Ive been working on my weight all my life. I just look at it as my continuous struggle...its my lesson in life that I need to learn. Once I accepted it, starting over becomes nothing...it's just another day of me doing what I can to be healthy and I no longer beat myself up…

Listen to your body - obviously you are not getting enough calories for the workout you do....eat back some of those exercise calories :) Your net calories are 500-600 a day (1200 to 1300 minus 700 cals burned). That is not enough to maintain even breathing. No wonder your body is screaming that its hungry!

Eat more veggies and less rice. It was a little confusing - you are worried about upping your carb intake with veggies....then in the next paragraph you mention eating rice to up your carbs. Why not just up your carbs with veggies (more fiber, more vitamins and health benefits than rice)?
-
Watch that show "Downsize Me" (its on Hulu...not sure where else). Look at those people....every episode I saw, you can physically see the difference healthy eating and exercise makes on people. They look healthier, they glow, they're more energetic....whether they are overweight or not, the physical benefits are obvious.…

I agree....please see a dr. There is no one on a weight loss site who can give you a correct answer and that is not something that is normal. You need a real doctor to determine that.... Good luck!
-
My holistic dr gave me some natural supplements (I dont remember the name, I am at work and the pills are at home) that is supposed to quiet my adrenal gland at night for improved sleep. I can say that since I started taking the supplements, I have never slept so good.
-
Good luck to you. I am struggling with the same thing. I've been at this for years and years with little progress (yes, logging and exercising and exercising some more). I finally went to a holistic doctor and am trying different natural supplements to even out the hormones but I dont know if it will work...only time and…

Welcome to MFP! Keep it up....you'll get to your goals in no time :-) Congrats on your weightloss!!
-
I've always wanted to try weight watchers but could never bring myself to pay for something that I could get for free. Welcome back to MFP. I think each thing works differently for different people so as long as you keep trying until you find something that works, you're good. Good luck with your journey (it never ends lol…

Good luck, Rose! Being an athlete means that you've got part of the battle down :-) You know how to work out ;-) I hate wearing tight clothes but I've realized that the more weight I lose, the tighter and tighter my clothes seem to get. I am also one who wears guys clothes to hide my body until I realized that sometimes…
