That's funny. I've ended up having the carry my Shih Tzu a few times too. They have short noses and can't cool themselves as well, so I have to make sure she doesn't overheat, but she'll go forever if she could. She is really fit for a little 8 year old and still has loads of energy, she just can't walk in the heat.
