  • That's a great idea. I need to play that game as well.
  • I have found that the shorter my lecture - like this - Your best options are always real food - sticks with the youngsters more than you think. Short and sweet, but often and mix it up. She's getting the message, sometimes it just takes people a while to process and figure it out and if they think they are figuring it out…
  • You have to actually enter any weight loss that you have achieved into your profile to have your timeline move, regardless of what MFP is telling you what will happen.
  • I have a similar story. I have gastro problems, joint pain and chronic fatigue (so an autoimmune symptoms). Decided to experiment on my own and started with cutting out gluten, also while doing research on myself (my n=1 experiment) reading and researching online, both blogs and medical research. I felt like I was on the…
  • I was told that once, went on supplements etc., no change, I didn't think it fit me anyway. It's hard to describe debilitating continual fatigue, among other issues, especially when blood work comes back "normal", you sound like me. I've been searching for an answer to by issues for 15 years and always being told (after…
  • Speaking of hollandaise sauce, here's even an easier one and it is so delicious - no cooking: 2 egg yolks 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice Dash of Salt - to your liking Dash of Paprika - to your liking 1 Stick of Butter Put the egg yolks, lemon juice, salt and paprika in a blender and give it a quick blend. Melt the butter to just the…
  • I swim with a friend of mine every Tues and Thurs and one day she walked in to the pool area and I looked at her and said "oh my hell, you got skinny", she laughed. She had lost 40 lbs, but for some reason I didn't really notice until that one day. It was like it all fell off in one day, but I know she worked at it for…
  • I mash up a few raspberries and my few I mean about 10, throw in a about 10 of the darkest chocolate chips I can find, add a little shredded coconut and mix together and eat, it's so yummy and is just enough to take the edge of when I'm craving something sweet. Sometimes I'll top with a little whipped cream or throw a…
  • I've actually found the more fiber I eat, the worse my symptoms get and the worse I feel. I just make sure I have some fiber from avocados or chia seeds, but I only put less than 1 Tbls in my smoothie sometimes, but for my "conditions" less fiber is better, especially from grains, in fact, I am gluten free as well. (At…
  • I wish I could like all your comments! I try not to have to explain what I eat and what I don't eat to people because they usually don't really understand the LCHF idea, but all I have to say is, I have a gluten sensitivity and feel better when I don't eat it and they don't say another word, even though gluten and carbs…
  • This group and this post has helped me so much. I appreciate this group more than any other. As I sit here writing this, I am fighting my overwhelming fatigue that has plagued me pretty much daily for years (apparently there is nothing wrong with me either, I must be depressed is what I'm told over and over, which is fine…
  • Tried it, loved it! Thanks for the post, I learn so much from this website and my "diet" or eating habits or whatever are just getting better and better.
  • My bad, I thought they were talking about the Mark's Daily Apple post where he uses the term pastured eggs, not pasteurized eggs. Carry on.
  • I can't wait to try this! I have been adding the coconut oil and heavy cream to my coffee, but this sounds like an excellent plan for me since I love eggs and creamy coffee so much. Just a note, because I'm annoying like this, it's pastured eggs that he talks about not pasteurized eggs, which is different. He's talking…
  • It did seem counterintuitive to me at first that vege, fruits and whole grains would make me sick, especially when my doctor was telling me to keep increasing them, even when my symptoms were getting worse. I had to just throw conventional thoughts out the window and really pay attention to how I felt after I ate. I…
  • I was told many years ago that I had IBS and to increase my fiber intake, which just made me more sick and my symptoms worse, especially from whole grains. Started thinking I might have celiacs or something more than the "throw in the towel" umbrella diagnosis of IBS. I was right. I finally had an endoscopy and…
  • Burpees, mountain climbers, squats, pushups, jump rope (with or without the rope, same movement), lunges, Romanian deadlifts, planks, running/walking in place, dance, sit ups. I, personally, can't stand DVD type workouts, they just drive me nuts, but I put on music and do resistance and cardio and I don't need but a 6' x…
  • Also check and see if your area has a local Master's group. I swim with Master's and it is so much more fun. We have a coached workout, so I get pushed much harder than if I made my own workout and it's more fun to swim with a group of people IMO. I have made a lot of swim friends, plus I get instructions on how to improve…
  • For 20 years I bounced between 190 and 210 (my highest weight not including pregnancy). And for years I have tried to figure out why I couldn't break that 190 barrier and would find myself right back up to 210 again. I even decided that's where my body was most comfortable (cop out). Here's what finally changed for me - I…
  • This won't be helpful, but pretty sure I'd be telling her to eff off, with a smile, of course.
  • LMAO, love it. Maybe I'll switch to neighs and moo's.
  • I do this while swimming. Sometimes I pretend a shark is chasing me (I've done this since I was 8, so for 40 years) or I pretend I'm a dolphin and it helps my motivation. Or I pretend I'm in the Olympics and sometimes I secretly race the person next to me (but only if I'm faster). I have also been known to talk to the cows…
  • I totally know how you feel. I felt the same way and finally just bit the bullet and started lifting. I found once I got the "first time" out of the way, it was less intimidating and every time I went, it got less and less intimidating until I felt like I "belonged" there. The funny thing is, no one knew which time was my…
  • Is the pain like a screw being driven up the inside of your heel or like a burning sensation? I was having what I think is similar pain to what you are referencing and it is not PF. It is similar to carpal tunnel, but in your foot. It is called Baxter Nerve Entrapment or Tarsel Tunnel Syndrome: Symptoms of Tarsal Tunnel…
  • I agree with what you said, so you made me happy, if that counts for anything.
  • I totally know what you mean. In fact, I think sometimes I sabotage my efforts a little bit because I'm scared of "getting there" and then failing, so if I don't ever "get there" I won't fail. However, I'm almost there and now that I've lost about 30 and kept it off and started weight training, I'm not so scared anymore. I…
  • You have to drastically change the way you eat and you already know you can lose weight without the major and sometimes very complicated surgery, why would you do it that way? Not trying to be rude, but seriously, why? Learn to eat smaller portions, period. It's hard, but if you're already struggling with the aspect that…
  • If you crack your eggs against each other, they crack better and not so fragmented and only one will crack at a time, or use a flat surface instead of the side of a pan. Learned this from my brother who is a chef. Works much better to crack eggs now and I rarely have splinters shells.
